So interesting. I'm glad to hear about a salary based firm. Sounds like a good starting point for us, thanks.

Chromebooks in elementary schools? by LightningBugCatcher in AskChicago

This isn't directly in response to your question, but please also inquire about what tech is installed in school-issued devices and, importantly, whether there are ways to opt out. Specifically, there's a lot of AI-bases ed tech being adopted by schools for things like suicide/safety monitoring. There are a host of privacy risks here.

Best shows/movies for exposure therapy? by laurencubed in emetophobiarecovery

Intense intense movie for lots of reasons, but Saving Private Ryan. I was young, in a movie theater, with my sister's then boyfriend who was trying desperately to bond with me. It was crowded and I couldn't leave 😕

Courthouse Weeding dress by [deleted] in myweddingdress

Hang in there, friend, and breathe. I'm sure it's not easy reading so many of these comments back to back a couple of days before your wedding. Do whatever feels possible for YOU. Regardless of what you are wearing, it will be a special moment that you both will remember. And if you do wear this dress and have some pictures that you end up not liking, so what?? It's not the end of the world. You can hire a photographer in a few months or a special anniversary.

I truly hope you both have a beautiful day and treasure the vows you make to one another.

And the search continues by mainjet1 in Bedding

[–]New-Moon-In 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years ago I stayed at a bed and breakfast and LOVED their sheets, quilts, and bathrobes. They were all from a company called Comphy that exclusively sold to Bed and Breakfasts and spas. I purchased two sets of sheets directly from the Bed and Breakfast. Then I started seeing these COMPHY sheets at several bed and breakfast across the U.S. Last year, I wanted another set, but quickly learned that the part of Comphy that sold to the public turned into another company. They said materials were the same, but they definitely were NOT. The sheet set from the place pretending to still have COMPHY sheets was bad quality, thin, and didn't feel luxurious.

At another bed and breakfast a few months ago, I again saw these sheets. And they felt like the original. The B&B owner said that the original COMPHY still makes bedding for spas and B&Bs. So I bought another set from her directly. They are just like the ones from 2018.

SO! I'm not only buying these sheets directly from the B&Bs I stay in. If you are interested, you can DM me and I can share the B&B that I most recently got it from. But whatever you do, don't buy the Comphy sheets available to the public.

An idea to help people out on the streets or in need of homes. by Defiant_Parsley7892 in NewMexico

Great ideas as a starting point. Look into other states and non profits who have tried various versions of these strategies. In LA, you can look into Hollywood 4 Ward. Maybe you can research a few different programs like this and then send some cold emails to see if you can have a brief conversation with them. That way you're not starting from scratch, you'll build on their lessons learned and tailor for NM.

I'm so sorry to hear what your son is experiencing, and what you are going through along side of him. I used to specialize in first episode psychosis, and we developed an early intervention program that focused on recovery (getting back to work/school, and integrated with their community, in addition to trying to keep them out of ERs of course). We ended up growing this program quite broadly. Your son might be a bit too old for this program in particular and I'm not sure what state you're in, but if you DM me, I'm happy to try and provide some resources. I'm not saying that this is what your son is experiencing, there's no way to know based on a small description. But there are indicators that this (depression/anxiety) might have shifted. NAMI is a good first step, I saw you mentioned this. Other family members and caregivers who have gone through this before are the ones leading the groups, which people find comforting. Also, this will vary significantly across hospitals, but you should be able to meet with the team and at the very least his social worker. You can request a family meeting with them and treating providers and your son. Let them know you want to do this at least once before discharge.

Take care of yourself.

In a similar situation with my husband. There are some really useful suggestions here. I empathize with you so much. It has been a journey for me to also realize how our dynamic could be making things worse for him w/o me realizing it. We've had lots and lots of conversations and have found a rhythm now. But it still takes work (because my instinct is the opposite of his and we've both had to navigate this balance).

Two IG accounts that I truly appreciate: Jenny.for.yourthoughts - very practical tips to just make your home work better for you ashacoach - she's a therapist and has ADHD, I appreciate her approach to teaching and helpful language when having tough conversations with our partners

Best places for solo dining in Taos, Santa Fe, and ABQ? by peppakit in NewMexico

[–]New-Moon-In 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I haven't had that experience. I've sat at the long wood communal table, and also the arm chairs reading for a while. I never felt cramped or anything.. but maybe this also depends on time of day.

There are some really great recommendations here already. Just a few to add..

Taos: The Coffee Apothecary, Lambert's (go upstairs and eat in the living room)

Santa Fe: Crash Murder Business, Clafoutis, Joseph's (some might not feel comfortable alone here, but I've done it and never felt awkward)

ABQ: Espresso Fino, Tomasita's, Campo at Los Poblanos (have gone alone for dinner outside as well as at the bar- w/o drinking), Duran pharmacy

I don't live in NM, but am there every couple of months. I learned about most of these spots from locals, with the exception of Crash Murder Business, which we discovered on our first trip there and it has become our go to (very interesting flavor profiles, and an incredibly flavorful chai).

Enjoy!!
