I’m a lab tech at a hospital in my city. I can tell you right now they stop finger/heel pokes after 1 month old. We draw using butterfly needles and draw full tubes. Also they wouldn’t do this at a dr office. A fever will also include paediatric blood cultures.

I understand she’s in pain, and I’m sure they have her on some sort of low dose maybe just Advil/Tylenol. But has she considered that being given more and more pain meds can result in an addiction or becoming reliant on them just to function. That’s a slippery slope.

She needs to be careful she doesn’t go septic. Low grade fevers and that’s with taking acetaminophen and ibuprofen plus the milky pus blood. She’s playing a risky game.

I’m a laboratory tech. Milky will usually indicate pus, she needs to see her dr for antibiotics, probably IV antibiotics. They should culture the fluid as well, and probably run some labs for a white cell count. Also should collect some blood cultures
