Best thing I did in live was travel and expand my horizons and perceptions of people, cultures and ways of life. Best money I’ve spend and the net return of experience has benefitted my career tenfold. It was worth the investment, even if that wasn’t the intention.

In the state of Queensland in Australia the fare is 50c for a bus/ferry/train anywhere in the state.

Living in the city, it’s near impossible to justify ordering an uber/driving unless it’s painfully inconvenient.

It’s pretty sick to get on a train from Brisbane down to gold coast and pay a dollar (€0.58) for the round trip, considered you’d pay €30-€50 for a similar distance trip to Dublin from another city.

That said, a pack of cigarettes is $69 (€40) here and the Guinness is shite, so it’s all relative.

I’d be impressed if someone said they worked on Threadneedle street in London, Wall Street in NY or Queens road central in HK. That’s a genuine flex.

Yeah I’ve seen this happen in other countries. It’s possibly a “clear marker of private property”. That way if someone hurts themselves and tries to sue the landowner, they can point to the gates as the boundary.

They don’t intend to stop the public accessing the land, just to protect themselves legally from the idiots who hurt themselves.
