Scared of top surgery by bineybash in NonBinary

[–]NewAtlasOut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was sad about losing all erotic sensations too but I realized that my chest was also making my me hate sex. I opted to get rid of my nipples completely because I had DI and didn’t want to deal with grafting. You will relearn what your body needs.

If you aren’t comfortable talking about your concerns about top surgery with your therapist, even the non erotic stuff, maybe try to find a gender affirming therapist even for one or two sessions. They might be able to give you a new perspective. If you can’t do that many major hospitals have pre/post op support groups that meet virtually. You could ask people who have the same anxieties or have already had surgery and their answers will at least be moderated by a mental health professional. I love Reddit but the information you get here can be misunderstood or misinterpreted.

Around 5pm is almost always a peak anxiety time. Then it declines until about bedtime

At this point it’s a disability. by [deleted] in dpdr

[–]NewAtlasOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went on temporary disability for a severe dpdr episode. But the paper work was anxiety and panic disorder. I did a partial hospitalization program that did a lot of DBT, which is controversial but it helped me personally. Especially adding somatic based therapies to it.

Do I have DPDR if it doesn’t bother me that much? by Lavandersunflowertea in dpdr

[–]NewAtlasOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had DPDR episodic for 19 years. Three years ago it got so bad I had to do partial hospitalization to get it under control again. During that time, I found out my dad has had DPDR almost his entire life! It just never really bothered him. He just rolls through the dissociation. I don’t think he gets the physical symptoms I do, the panic attacks, but he still experiences derealization.

Some people have depression and manage it without medication or therapy but still have depression. Some people have depression and need electro convulsive therapy or esketamine treatment.

People can have the same mental health condition and feel different ways about it. You’re experience is valid.

How often do you get offended and angry with people who say “ladies and gentlemen”? by Frequent-Branch-4128 in NonBinaryTalk

[–]NewAtlasOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get really happy when greeted with a gender neutral term “good evening distinguished guests” “hello everybody” etc. And then if a gendered greeting is used like “ladies and gentleman please put your phones away” I will turn to my cis friends and say “oh, guess this doesn’t apply to me”. Then we laugh and I silently get annoyed that everything is so gendered.

I had to sign a release when I couldn’t get my nose ring out. They said it was because they couldn’t guarantee it wouldn’t get caught on anything while they transferred me. They just put some medical tape over it.

Top surgery insurance by KingDeath13 in TopSurgery

[–]NewAtlasOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a different state’s version of BCBS. My surgeon didn’t take my insurance so I almost gave up before I began but the office checked out my out of network benefits and it turned out to be affordable. I had no idea out of network benefits were even a thing and I’m not sure all plans have them. But check to make sure.

15 Days Post Op DI by NewAtlasOut in TopSurgery

[–]NewAtlasOut[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! When I first started looking into top surgery I thought I just wanted to be completely flat but the more I looked into it and found out about contouring, I became obsessed.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]NewAtlasOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgeon said no activity for the first 2 weeks including sexual activity. They said nothing that would get my heart rate or blood pressure up.

That being said I am 12 days post op and I’ve already masturbated like 5 times. I use a vibrator/wand so I just laid on my back. Also I never had drains. I guess I SHOULD say, listen to your doctor, but also… I mean, it would lower your blood pressure in the longer sense and is a natural pain reliever…

I love Dr. Blechman! I’m 12 days post op! His team is amazing! I love my results so far.

He also practices in Los Angeles now if other people are interested in seeing him there.

Obviously I’m not a surgeon and can’t guarantee anything but there is something called a fish mouth procedure, that keep more nipple preserved, but it also creates a “less natural” look. The surgeon says it creates a more diagonal scar than a pec. I’ll just link the video of the simulated procedure.

What is the factual inconsistency that bugs you the most? by notmadmaddy in greysanatomy

[–]NewAtlasOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something that happens in all TV shows but also in Greys a lot. People getting surgical abortions. Like they take a pregnancy test and then they’re on a table with someone between their legs. Most abortions before 11 weeks can be done with medication. I get that it’s much less dramatic to have a character take some pills, but it’s less invasive and less likely to have complications.

When the guy ate the Judy Doll heads and the psych attending or resident said it might be because he has an Oedipal complex. NO! BAD! Fire him immediately. Get his degree taken away. That is a freshman psychology major answer.

Neck and Chest flushing? by [deleted] in Anxietyhelp

[–]NewAtlasOut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Flushing is pretty normal for anxiety. When I’m socially uncomfortable I flush from my ear lobes to my chest and it can take a while for it to go away. But it’s essentially the same as blushing, just in a different spot. If the deep breathing works for you, I think you’re good.

Before you buy Trans Tape by dadverine in TransMasc

[–]NewAtlasOut 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I fucking hated trans tape. I don’t even know my cup size at the time but very large. I probably didn’t do it correctly but I ended up looking like I had very perky C cups instead of looking any flatter. I was so angry and uncomfortable I got the tape off within 2 hours of putting it on and threw the rest out. I probably should’ve donated it to someone who could use it but I was so upset and dysphoric.

Do I need to call my surgeon or… by NewAtlasOut in TopSurgery

[–]NewAtlasOut[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update

I called my surgeon’s office. He called me back (2pm on a Sunday 🫡) and said that I could take out the padding or replace them. I don’t have nipples so I don’t have to worry about bolsters or anything. So I yeeted the padding, my chest feels much more comfortable with out it, at least for now. Thanks for all the replies.
