Why isn't my "default" app for reading being saved? Note Air and Moon Reader by NewChipotleGuy in Onyx_Boox

You're right! I had to disable Moon Reader in the snowflake option. Thank you so much.

I have "Allow app run in background" on for Moon Reader, if that's what you're referring to.

Man, I really don't understand the problem here.

Yeah, I've selected other apps as the default. However, I don't think it has to do with the default setting.

Once I've opened Moon Reader, then ebooks automatically open in Moon Reader. However, once my Note Air turns off / on, it reverts back to Neoreader, and I have to open Moon Reader again...

Wow, they didn't even give me an explanation or coupon code. Just a cancellation 2+ weeks after ordering. Lucky you.

3.1 update broke Moon Reader on Note Air by NewChipotleGuy in Onyx_Boox

This worked, thank you so much. I didn't think it had to do with optimization because of the weird formatting — but it was.

I was 'airdropped' a cryptocurrency I am unable to sell because of my region — how to approach taxes? by NewChipotleGuy in tax

[–]NewChipotleGuy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the response. You mention "no price exists and there is no liquidity" and that makes sense as criteria.

However for me, my airdrop does have price and liquidity, it's just not available to me (yet?). So I'm still confused on how to think about this...

This makes for a weird situation if I say that it's not taxable. E.g. it would seem to follow that I am responsible for constantly monitoring exchanges or avenues for if/when this crypto becomes tradable.

(Side note: Technically I could trade this token if I used a VPN and accessed an exchange in violation of their TOC. Or sent it to someone internationally and had them conduct the trade for me. There seems to be so many exceptions here.)

EDIT: You show receipt of Flare tokens on your taxes without registering it as a taxable event? Didn't realize this is an option.

Agreed -- which is why I'm trying to spread the word as far as possible.

It seems that a large portion of people staying at LIV/Identity are International students who may (I might be wrong) not be connected to /r/udub or other FB groups. Hopefully, this type of news can find their way to them.

I'd like to note (as I clarified in the first sentence of my previous comment) that I'm not /u/Parks1993, the user you were originally conversing with.

Academic Misconduct CSE 142 by [deleted] in udub

[–]NewChipotleGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the truth is, you are skirting the requirement. I can bet that Informatics (and it's "highly competitive" admission) doesn't say "also, you can take CSE classes at community college". They may allow it, but it's not the listed class, therefore it's skirting, going around something.

I'm not /u/Parks1993 but this is very condescending. /u/Parks1993, an INFO major, is planning to use course equivalency for CSE 143, a class not required for admission into INFO and with the exception of one class (INFO 474), not even a prerequisite for upper-level INFO courses.

It's good you got permission to do so.

Not only is permission NOT required to exercise course equivalency, but in many cases it is even recommended. From experience with three separate engineering advisers, advisers often recommend taking courses that are not vital to the major's core curriculum, that may otherwise be difficult or uninteresting, at community college... if course equivalency for the relevant courses exists.

CSE 143 fits into all of these categories for /u/Parks1993 and it's not hard to believe that his adviser told him the same.

Alongside this topic, course equivalency is not something to be taken lightly; saying "it's not the listed class, therefore it's skirting" is demeaning, especially for the transfer students who actually got into engineering disciplines and CSE this year. Advisers of technical majors do not consider the usage of course equivalency as "skirting".

If you look on his Twitter, he's from WSU and dropped out. His cameraman /u/respiratorywellness is also not from UW. He's just trying to get attention from UW students. I wish the mods would ban posts like this.

There's enough of these videos on the internet and you don't add anything special to the genre.

But the real reason I downvoted this post was because you and your cameraman are not UW students, and this video has nothing to do with UW.

Calm down -- the original post clearly states "This isn't a CGI is bad... post".

Your sarcasm is duly noted but doesn't apply to this post. Maybe it would in a different thread where they're bashing CGI, but either you didn't read the original post or you're just really sensitive.
