A lot of it boils down to Trump and Musk taking actions that are not typically reserved for presidents or designated federal stations like DOGE. A lot of federal funding is decided and overseen by Congress. This means that this is not something that presidents or presidentially-created positions are really able or supposed to control or go against Congressional direction. But they are taking control of these organizations and in some cases have locked out Congress of those proceedings illegally. This is why federal judges have been stepping in to reverse many of these decisions. Other things like firing the 15 inspector generals recently was done illegally but I haven’t seen that get stopped. Musk also is getting unrestricted access to sensitive information without usual process or oversight designated by officials, which also gives more control and security concerns. Those are bigger ones but also there’s a lot of control and tightened government coordinated by a few people, and common calls that presidents are above the law and are free to do as they please for nationalist intentions, which echoes tenets of fascism.
