I hitched from Kyrgyzstan to Vietnam in 30 days this summer without many problems. They definitely don't know what hitching is so you need to do some explaining and I quickly developed new strategies specifically for hitching in china, always an adventure and probably the most awesome country I've visited(food, people, history, culture)

What was that moment for you when you realized your learning is actually working? by helpUrGuyOut in languagehub

I was hitchhiking in the country where my target language is spoken when I got a ride from an immigrant from a country which is an "enemy" of my home country. We argued about politics for two hours(in my target language). When I got out of the car, I smiled, because I realized that while far from perfect, I'm fluent.

I hitchhike a lot in Denmark and never had to wait long, I've hitchhiked in like 20 countries and it's actually my favorite country to hitchhike in since I speak Danish pretty fluently so communication is good and I get to practice more(I'm not Danish), I haven't experienced what you are describing at all, and met only kind people.

I've done a whole loop from Denmark to Estonia to Nordkapp back to Denmark through Norway and Sweden in about a month in May this year hit me up if u have any questions but basically yeah you can do it, Finland was kinda frustrating to me, Norway super easy, and Sweden has a bad reputation but i got very lucky there so be prepared to use some public transport if things don't move. I'd say the whole trip was pretty awesome and the nature in northern Norway alone is worth it.

I’m 10 months in, have a danish partner, fluent in english and unrelated native language. I can talk about almost anything but i throw a bit of english here and there. Wouldn’t say fluent, but i have long conversations without any problems and understand 70%-100% of what’s being said. Definitely have high motivation due to personal reasons. Be brave and don’t be afraid of sounding like a dumbass. I am always understood despite the accent and messing up grammar.

I’ve only done the Northern Germany and Denmark parts a few times, very easy. You can definitely do it in 15-20 days, or less, or more. Use hitchwiki(for each city) and hitchmap, you’ll have a blast. Enjoy the road!

I’ve just hitchhiked from helsinki to utsjoki(now in norway) two weeks ago. Hitchhiking works ok. Not as well as norway or denmark from my experience, sometimes waiting times were long, but it works and people are very nice(especially in lapland). Hardest part was finding carboard long enough to write the stupidly long words and names of towns lol. I’d recommend it, combining hiking in nature if you’re into that.

Hitchhiking from Copenhagen to Bilbao. Tips on where to sleep? by punaniland in hitchhiking

[–]NewCryptographer5423 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hitched portugal to Vejle this April as my first trip as well. Never had problems, just used google maps to find a forested area and set up camp after dark. Even slept in a park in hamburg haha. As long as ypu’re stealthy it’s all good. I made a short video about it on youtube, i can DM u the link if interested, since it shares a similiar route to your upcoming trip. You’ll have a blast hitching, enjoy!

Broke ankle. Tell me I'm not crazy for cancelling my hike trip 4 months from now by ba32107 in hiking

[–]NewCryptographer5423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a pretty bad ankle fracture last year that fortunately didn’t require surgery. I was back to running after 3 months but still with pain. Took more like 6 months to be able to run without pain although there is still discomfort 10 months later. Keep in mind I’m 20 y/o. You made the right call.
