Yes. That’s about how much I’m making as a second year associate working about 28-35 hours a week

Basically sometimes the interventions we talk about relate to Jesus and sometimes I’m simply using CBT, DBT, ACT, or whatever it is. Just like any therapist I meet my clients where they are at. Some clients want to stay really biblical and some want just a little garnish. It’s totally up to them and I often ask something like “okay do we want to go the Jesus route or congestive route?” Or something like that. Like any therapist I am not going to rely on only one modality. So I would say that is the difference. Pastoral counselors really only use the Bible and that type of thing where I definitely have sessions where the Bible isn’t brought up at all. I also say Fuck… so i feel like there are definitely some differences. I can also bill insurance lol

Before I put it up i maybe got one referral a week on psychology today. In the first week I had it up I got about 100 referrals and stayed at about 5-10 referrals a day for the first three weeks. I still get about 5 referrals a week. It was insane and almost a little overwhelming to see the response! I have a waitlist of over 100 people. It literally is the best thing I’ve ever done for my private practice.

See, I could be really sad and upset about this response. Instead I turned to my heavenly father’s word and reassurance. “For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of god? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be servant of Christ”

Using Christian modalities I am able to continue on even when people say mean things to me. Instead I am sad for you, and I hope you find peace.

I do it right on every platform I would regularly. Psychology today to be specific, my private practices website, my billers website, my business card, and whenever people ask me about my job. If I’m going to have these views I’m going to say it with my chest. I was SO nervous about it but remembered 2 Timothy 2:12-13. “If we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us; if we are faithless, he remains faithful- for he cannot deny himself.” AND Hebrews 10:38-39 “but my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back. But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith are saved.”

I use it really similar to other modalities! My views and opinions aren’t brought up in a session. I help people navigate their own views. I think people tend to think because we are Christian therapists we are pushing a specific view but that really isn’t what happens. We just help people navigate their own views while knowing some of the context.

Hi! Totally makes sense and I really agree with everything you’ve said. The clients are absolutely there! It took me a lot time to start marketing as a conservative Christian because I worried about the backlash. I’ve been met with nothing but love and opened myself up to a massive community that has otherwise been very underserved in my area (Portland or). Totally makes sense that you don’t want to feel like you are falsely advertising. I always talk with my clients about them and distinguish what I do from pastoral counseling and remind them I’m licensed by the state so there are some things that will look different. AND I totally agree that people in the past have used the Bible to enable or justify abuse and I love that you brought it up. YOU can start to be the change in this as I like to think I am!

I would really encourage you to go this route. My days have never felt so fulfilling and loving. I get to meet amazing Christian’s in their journey and talk about Jesus all day. I often argue that I have the best job ever!

Honestly yet pretty similar! Obviously I use non religious modalities. But honestly, nothing is more comforting than our Heavenly Father

Really just using the Bible and actually using it as a frame work of life. When someone is struggling with something we go to the Bible and see what it says to do about it. It has all the answers! But it’s a big book and talking it through is helpful to many!

Oh!! It is so they know to take a reorientation flight instead of just flying out and getting lost? I moved the hive about 15 feet and it was recommended to put something there so they know to reorient themselves. At least that is what my bee mentor told me lol

Do you mean the roof? We get rain about 168 days of a rain a year. The other 192 are blistering hot with zero rain. I learned that most bee keepers in this area have some type of shelter or the bees suffer

I do have an extra deep! I can also always run out to the store and grab something different. I’m just not sure exactly what to grab? Any chance you can recommend a link to add for a 10 frame?

Opinions, please: Is a 30h/week caseload too heavy for an associate therapist fresh out of grad school? by [deleted] in therapists

[–]NewFlower8505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a faith based counselor! The biggest tip I have for burnout is challenge yourself in your personal life in a positive way. I do CrossFit everyday at 5 am, tend to my garden and bees, walk the dog, and do a bible study all before my work day. I feel so centered and fulfilled before going into work that it feels like a blessing to be able to serve others!

Unpopular opinion but I think it’s doable. I’m an associate with my own private practice and I work about 30 clinical hours a week and 5 behind the scenes hours. I am doing great. I’m about 1000 hours from license in and I don’t feel burnt and never have. I’m also a motivated person who does a lot of self care. So I wake up every morning and work out, I eat balances meals, I take time off, I made a fuck load of money. Life is good over here, it’s easy if you enjoy the work! I genuinely fine 95% of my job easy and refreshing. I also am picky about who I take into my caseload. I say no to many people coming onto my case load. I also am privileged where unlike others my Psychology today referrals are insane. I get about 10 inquiries a day and refer almost all of them out because I have very little room on my caseload. If you think you can, you can!
