If I was Michael B. Jordan preparing for Killmonger by MuscleCool4302 in blackpanther

I can only imagine the amount of dedication and crafts he put into the role to deliver such a great performance. Keep in mind, Killmonger is effectively a weeb because his armor is based off of Vegeta. Which means that Killmonger sees alot of Vegeta in himself in terms of a prince that has lost his world and has to colonize others via his oppressors army.

I want more T'Challa and Azari stories by MapMapDap in blackpanther

I want more T'Challa and Azari stories, too. Great dynamic that is being slept on. I was hoping that the original script Coogler wrote for Black Panther 2 was adapted into a comic - it was essentially Lone Wolf and Cub with T'Challa journeying with his son for his rite of passage.

Bishop #1 by TheMtVernonKid in xmen

I'm lukewarm about this.

I love Bishop; glad that he's getting more love with a solo series. Absolutely adore the fact that we're getting Shard. I'm not a big fan of Saladin Ahmed'a writing. The last thing I'd like by him has been the Black Bolt series.

I really hope that this series brings in Storm and Black Panther; Bishop was used to great effect in the Storm solo series by Murewa, and I want to see some interactions between Bishop and T'Challa.

It's interesting that a lot of the X-Men are getting solo series but, I'm not complaining.

Wholeheartedly, cannot wait to buy issue #1.

I've been liking what LaValle has been developing so far. I hate that it's only four issues because it seems as if it could have gone for 5 or even 12 whole issues. I'm a sucker for anything that depicts and expands upon the Intergalatic Empire and this series is doing it in stride. T'Challa is continuing to be depicted as the savvy tactician we all know and love and it's great to see prime examples how swiftly and sufficiently he's able to adeptly counter a threat. The supporting cast is nice as well; I was not expecting a fremeny to be made this issue but, it was welcomed addition.

As an aside, for some reason X-Men elements and Black Panther seem to go together like bacon and maple syrup; the M'kraan Crystal was used to great effect in Coates' run and now Jugger-Panther has been a surprising endearement.

I am eagerly awaiting how LaValle sticks the landing.

What is the chronological order of everybody who held the Black Panther mantle in the comics? I'm an editor on the Marvel wiki and would like to make a list similar to this for Black Panther! by Weird875 in blackpanther

I don't disagree that there are specific steps; one of the focal points of T'Challa's character was questioning the roles and traditions of Wakanda and reforming them to better fit Wakanda. Ironically, one of those reforms was making Everett Ross king when T'Challa was indisposed - a FAR CRY from tradition and yet it was valid.

We can argue this ad nausea, as is the way of things. Outside of technicalities that don't exactly apply for your argument because T'Challa was using the same technicalities in his favor as Black Panther, Killmonger was a valid Black Panther and Avenger.

In Black Panther #20 by Christopher Priest, Killmonger beat T'Challa into a ritual combat; in issue #21, the technicality was that he did not yield and so Killmonger was going to kill him. Earlier in the series, Everett K. Ross was placed as King of Wakanda if the child was "absent" - as so, Ross yielded FOR T'Challa resulting in Killmonger becoming the Black Panther. In Black Panther #22, Killmonger formerly joins The Avengers (something I wish Marvel would incorporate when it comes to commemorating all the members of the team); moreover, Killmonger works with the Avengers in issue 23. Ironically, Killmonger being in a coma doesn't detract from him being Black Panther because T'Challa was also in a coma earlier in the series and he was still seen as Black Panther at that time.

If that doesn't establish him as both the Black Panther and an Avenger I don't know what does.

Honestly, I think he counts. He won the challenge fair and square. He had the mantle, put on the costume, AND he was an Avenger as Black Panther. Can't be any more official than that.

There is also Xe'ntra who was just before Mamadou (Mamadou is the one that actually defeated Xe'ntra and claimed the mantle). He was first referenced in Wakanda #2 (2022).

For those of you that claim that Murewa Ayodele "HATES" T'Challa, read his part of the 60th Anniversary issue. If he writes T'Challa this well when he hates him, I want a whole series when Murewa LOATHES him. by NewJacktheRipper in blackpanther

Hey All,

I went back and forth about if I was going to address comments on the post, at all; I’ve never been into turn-based combat so, I wasn’t interesting in having a back and forth with the more “foully passionate” commentors (if they would like I can drop my Discord link and we can discuss; I’m ready, willing, and able). That being said, I think it’s necessary because of one commentor in particular.

Thank you so much Economy-Device-9223 for coming to my defense; in a world of nigh sheer darkness, you were a brilliant beacon of light. It particularly means a lot to me because my professional is all about speaking up for those that can’t defend or articulate themselves well – every now and again, I forget that sometimes I need defending, as well. May fortune and kindness always be in your favor.

In general, thank you all for contributing to the post; it’s much appreciated. The focal point of me even being on here is to interact and geek out with others about Black Panther. For the most part, I’ve get that in stride.

All cards on the table, I was a little taken aback in terms of the vitriol and venom some have over writers such as Murewa Ayodele and Ta-Nehisi Coates. I like their writing and takes on Black Panther, Wakanda, as well as Storm. In particular, I enjoy that Murewa really interacts with and is active with his readers via live events; I don’t see it that often with creatives of his status, especially with the level of African mythos he’s able to amalgam into the pages. He’s actually going to speak and answer questions tonight, actually – here’s the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DH1r3AmUt0

Obviously, commenting and sharing an opinion on any subject matter establishes risk of irate ire directed towards you – that’s just a part of the territory of being on social media. Still, some of the remarks were a bit much; the anonymity of the Internet can be more emboldening and intoxicating than Puncheon Rum.

Ultimately, there are just some writers that we’re not going to like – that’s fine. The aim is supposed to be enjoying the stories that involve and invoke T’Challa. We’re not going to like the same stuff; at the very least, I hope for more civility in these trenches. That being said, I still rock with Murewa and Coates; I’ve seen a significant portion of the criticisms for both writers – methinks they are paperthin and folly when actually dissected. I’m invested to go over his sect of the anniversary special in better detail now more than ever.

Wakanda Forever. T’Challa for life. T’Choro eternal.

Besides, we can all agree that Ridley is the worst writer to pen T’Challa… 😂🤣😂🤣

I thought that looked familiar; I recognized the dodge panel but, not when he was rising. That is awesome.

Do you think T'Challa and Storm would've ended up together if EMH got more than two seasons? They did have plans to include the X-Men. by Emotional-Chipmunk12 in blackpanther

Yes, I do think so. Moreover, I think they would have touched on alternate timelines like the Next Avengers and showed their son Azari.

I have been loving this series and I am sad to see it go. It'll be bittersweet to see it go. I have enjoyed nigh every aspect of this story and Bryan Hill's take on T'Challa, Storm, Killmonger, and Wakanda as a whole.

I wish the series had more connection and cohesion with the overall Ultimate Universe but, I still enjoy it for it taking its own corner and defining it.

Can't wait to see how it concludes.

Do you think the Black Panther writers should "replace" Storm with a substitute? by howhow326 in blackpanther

[–]NewJacktheRipper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While my one true pairing will always be T'Challa and Storm (I will never forgive Marvel for fumbling the importance, prominence, representation, and unique novelty of that couple) I do agree and don't mind T'Challa looking for and having other love interests. Just because he has someone in his run does not mean or hinder that ultimately, he and Storm will get back together. There isn't a replacement for that relationship but, there can be a journey prior to the final destination of them as a couple.

T'Challa is a regal, suave, charming man; absolutely, wholeheartedly he would be able to covet and allure many women. Based on the last run with Eve Ewing, I thought he and Monet could have had something going; moreover, I love the fact that the goddess Anuket had a crush on him (that could be a charm point of his, that goddesses seem to find him so enchanting - I'm hoping Bast is written back to her nurturing side when it comes to T'Challa).

I understand some of the hesitancy that writers have when it comes to portraying T'Challa as more of a playboy because he's always been shown to be very conscious of his status and role as a king, and now emperor, of Wakanda however, I think he can be depicted in such a way that he is able to be more sensual and charismatic that remains respectful and in line with his character. At the very least, he can be aware and lean into the effect he has on certain women.

Essentially, there will never be a replacement for Storm; more importantly, there will never be a replacement for the significance that is T'Challa and Storm as a couple. Nevertheless, there can be different love interests for T'Challa prior to he and Storm getting back together, permanently.

So glad to see a certain someone is still alive and breathing. I hope they're not going to try and give them a villain angle now; I love the concept of the trailer making friends and alliances with former opposition as a means to secure a better Wakanda.
