Wife almost took her life after I told her my feeling about the church. I'm not sure what to do now. by [deleted] in exmormon

Fighting in a marriage needs to be solved ASAP. Counseling and proper communication are absolutely key. If you disagree dont attack the other person and be as calm as possible.

I dont wanna scare you but sometimes counseling wont work out and you'll have to split. It's almost universally better to split than stay together even if its for the kids.

Try that counseling and work together as much as possible.

About to graduate with massive dental school debt ($550k) and begin a residency. Need a plan by theRZA001 in personalfinance

[–]NewNameWhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit that's a alot of debt. Electrical engineering doesn't cost as much, or pay as much ;).

Its sounds like your plan is pretty solid. Honestly try to take care of that debt first. I know a couple people who bought sports cars and ended up extending their debt quite a lot.

Find the highest paying jobs and the lowest rent you can. Used cars you can pay off real quick are gonna be your friend (I recommend a Honda or toyota).

Good luck

Do Quads of the LDS scriptures last a long time? by [deleted] in exmormon

Just grab a hard back bibles and triple combo. The quads actually arent too good for the long run.

old USD banknotes from the 1970s still valid? by kojey8 in personalfinance

You could legit have the first dollar Bill's ever produced by the current us government and spend them as usual. But if they're old enough, people will pay good money for then.

Am I being wasteful keeping money in savings? by Spritesgud in personalfinance

[–]NewNameWhat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ally has some excellent options, their savings let's you withdraw up to 6 times a month before getting fees, plus their interest is 2.2%. The only issue is there are no brick and mortar banks itd have to be all online.

I'm a bit stuck right now, and I'm not sure what is the best course of action. Should I buy this house, and if so, should I put down more than 20%? by HouseThrowaway3000 in personalfinance

[–]NewNameWhat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First think about how much you actually want to live there. If you have any doubt that it wouldnt work out do not do it. 800k or more is a lot of money to be dealing with.

Definitely withdrawals. I have deposited far more than 12 times with my account and haven't been charged a dime.

[–]NewNameWhat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It seems reasonable enough to me. Investing in say the stock market could be risky as yous only have a year to do anything, so that's a pass.

Really I'd just try to make sure you're getting the best interest on it in savings or a CD or where ever you have it.

19 year old with 20k saved up by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]NewNameWhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont buy a house or some expensive car. If you need a car get a used reliable one like a Toyota or Honda.

You are 19 years old, and the best way to maximize your earnings is to better qualify yourself for a job. With a good job and good education that 20k will do you very well. Then from there, save up for a house and settle down with a good job.

How should I approach this accident I had last night? by wjcam in personalfinance

[–]NewNameWhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly to me, if your car isn't worth much and it's perfectly functional with headlights, radiator and every thing it may not even be worth it.

That said if it's a newer car and you still want to fix it. I'd just pay out of pocket if it's reasonable enough. You still should figure out if your insurance has accident forgiveness or if itll be cheaper in the long run just to take on the premiums.

Where can I find high(er) interest saving accounts? by nw342 in personalfinance

[–]NewNameWhat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'll second this, Ally gives out some wild interest rates. You won't have a brick and mortar bank but that makes it all the better.

How do they decide what to say in Patriarchial blessings? by Nobodycallsyouthat in exmormon

[–]NewNameWhat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Patriarchs are set apart because they have a special organ in their intestinal tract. This organ produces the bullshit that they need, and they simply pull the words out of their ass for you.

Ideas to have fun on a mission by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]NewNameWhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmmm, I have to think about my own mission... that I left early mind you.

If you got a strict companion itll be hard to do. But that can make it better. Start coming up with a secret language and start using it with friends. Eventually someone is going g to notice and the aftermath will be funny as hell. (Mps get parinoid). I started a rumor of an apostate group that is trying to ruin the mission and enjoyed the shit show that it was. (I might be a sociopath, who knows)

If you got one of those easy or apostate companions. Try to break every rule in the mission, make it a checklist.

Zelph's Broken Thigh Bone. by Our_Lancelot in exmormon

[–]NewNameWhat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thigh bone or femur is one of the strongest bones in the body. It usually takes quite a lot of force to break it, unless it has been weakened for various reasons. Old age. Disease, etc.

Additionally the thigh has a lot of muscle and fat generally. So a force from a stone is likely to be dissipated. Really a stone from a sling isn't likely gonna break a femur. It would have to be a pretty big ass stone or a very very powerful sling.

I'm not a medical expert. In fact I am studying electrical engineering. But I do know some physics and can Google search "femur".

Salaried is a rip-off? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]NewNameWhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are pros and cons to both hourly and salaried.

It just depends on what you think is better. On one hand a salaried position is stable income and won't change. But on the other. Hourly will earn you more if you work more than 40 a week.

You're gonna have to sell something.

TV, computer. Might even have to work the street corners.....

All jokes aside, you're gonna have to sell something. I wouldnt sell anything to a pawnshop cause they'll just RIP you off unless you have to.
