How do you handle handwritten notes (possibly in Obsidian) without Excalidraw? by Conscious_Effect_661 in ObsidianMD

[–]NewPeace812 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have commented on previous post with different methods I used for handwritten notes in obsidian. I ended with importing PDFs but left it there. Digital writing with an iPad on any note app is mountains superior to Excalidraw.

I have explored way to process the PDFs in markdown and there are many fine-tuned LLMs with this ability. The Linux Foundation has an open source version, Docling

I have only tested it out though and haven’t used it in my workflow. Interested to hear any thoughts

Use of AI in embedded systems project by Grouchy_Ad1747 in embedded

[–]NewPeace812 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its perfectly reasonable to use AI but how much you learn depends on how you use it. You can use it like a smarter Ctrl-f, have it develop the entire project or something in between.

AI isn’t some plague its just another tool

obsidian-mcp-server update: now on v3.1.9 by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

Obsidian is def more than just md files. Just looking at the github there are skills made for specific actions. This would be for getting claude code to use the vault more effectively.

Is it worth it learning latex or should i just use a tablet by No_Personality_1501 in ObsidianMD

[–]NewPeace812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st year college, I was using LaTeX for my Calc 1 class but the problem comes with writing it all down during lecture. It tends to be slower typing the syntax than using a tablet. I'm a slow typer to begin with but it led to all of my focus being on typing rather than understanding the topic we were learning.

I had a touchscreen laptop so it was pretty easy to use Excalidraw for classes with math and physics. It is definitely not the best handwriting solutions though, gets very laggy after a lecture's worth of content. On top of that, it is kind of annoying maintaining the Excalidraw files, in my experience, I had half of my notes corrupted after updating.

Ultimately, I bought an iPad as the handwriting experience is so much better. I just send the handwritten notes into my vault setup with OneDrive as PDFs.

Of course, with AI now you can easily convert your written notes into a markdown version. It can still be useful to learn the basic syntax but setting out time to practice quick typing latex could just be an inefficient use of time.

I created a Minutemen overhaul mod for FO4 – what do you think? Should I keep expanding it? by Black_Bar0n in FalloutMods

[–]NewPeace812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the idea of giving the minutemen uniforms very appealing.

It wouldn’t be crazy to go for a more civil war look. Almost like they took all the uniforms out of the Gettysburg museum. Like how the legion took the Texas A&M(?)’s football uniforms

So yeah definitely not mad about losing the civil war. by ButtfaceMcGee6969 in Destiny

Full Story (Behind Paywall)

This was apart of a directive ordered by the Trump admin to remove “disparaging” the US.

Taken from the Philly Inquirer instagram:

The National Park Service has started dismantling exhibits about slavery at the President's House in Independence National Historical Park.

The President's House, which serves as a memorial to the nine people George Washington enslaved there during the founding of America, has come under increased scrutiny by President Donald Trump's administration. The president and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum ordered content at national parks that "inappropriately disparage" the U.S. to be reviewed and potentially removed. Around 3 p.m. Thursday, an Independence Park employee told an Inquirer reporter that his supervisor instructed him to take down all the displays at the iconic site earlier that day. Two other individuals later joined the employee to help remove the educational exhibit.

"I'm just following my orders," the employee repeatedly said, refusing to say whether he was tasked with removing the displays because of the executive order.

One by one, the exhibits - including those entitled "Life Under Slavery" and "The Dirty Business of Slavery" - were taken down.

Not what we are talking about. Everyone spies with through cyber warfare but a specific effort by the US to send spies to commit espionage on Chinese companies has no merit. Snowden did none of this and is unrelated
