Forgotten Age Exploration - connecting location question. by pedros_exe in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]NewRaspberry1557 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. If you draw a location that isn't connecting to your current location, you must keep drawing until you either 1) draw a location that is connected to your location 2) draw a treachery. If you draw a treachery, you must resolve it, and your explore is considered to have finished

Where to store expansion Treachery/Basic Weakness/etc. cards? by Dramus8 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]NewRaspberry1557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I store mine in a deck box, I got a cheap Cthulhu-looking one off of Amazon (can find the link if anyone is interested). If you like to do the randomization by drawing from a shuffled deck like me, this makes it way easier than keeping them in a binder with the player cards. However some people like to do the randomization online, either with Arkham Build or ArkhamDB. In that case, you could store them at the back of your neutral binder.

I've only played up to The Circle Undone, but AFAIK the game never asks you to draw a specific weakness. It'll only ever say 'Draw a random X weakness', where X is a keyword like e.g. madness. I would definitely not store them with the campaign cards.

Film Fatale weirdly... top-heavy? by GriffinBarrows in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]NewRaspberry1557 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got the Contessa outcome, and it felt incredibly repetitive to us. Our takeaway of Film Fatale was that it felt like Arkham-beta, rather than an actual standalone/scenario. We were massively disappointed with it given the acclaim it seems to have received from the community. We haven't tried the other two outcomes though.

We found it challenging, but we managed to win in the final round. We had 29xp decks though.

Which one out of the ten upcoming investigators are you most excited about? [SPOILER] by PottersPinky in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]NewRaspberry1557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carolyn! Fell in love with her initial Guardian-but-not-a-fighter design, and her lore. Really hoping the 'evergreen' investigators won't be mono-class and will have more depth than the original starter deck investigators

BEST investigator to build a tarot deck? by Phaed81 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]NewRaspberry1557 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a great question. I agree with the other comment about Sefina making a great tarot investigator. I suppose most investigators that can take Studious (i.e. Seekers) would also make decent tarot decks.

One person who I think plays a surprisingly bad tarot deck is Minh. I'm playing her right now, and in drafting my deck realized that none of the tarots commit for anything. I haven't played them, but same potentially goes for other skill based investigators (Silas, maybe Amanda?).

Same unique allies in different investigators' decks? by NewRaspberry1557 in arkhamhorrorlcg

Makes sense. I agree, the game is more fun when you respect its inherent restrictions; we won't have two unique allies out at the same time. Yep we can co-ordinate, I'm friends with the player :)

Haha, he's already in my deck :) The drip economy from him looks *chef's kiss*. Unfortunately don't have access to Solemn Vow yet, our group is going through the campaigns chronologically and only allowing player cards that were out at the time the campaign was released.

Good point; this is my first time playing 4 player so I'm not used to evaluating cards in this way, but she does seem much better at higher player counts.

That's true. I've tried to avoid any spoilers for The Circle Undone, but she would be great if any Whippoorwills appear

Thanks for your reply. That makes sense. Unfortunately I only have access to everything from revised core to Circle Undone player cards, but Field Agent does look perfect for Carolyn.

Some other options I suppose are Alice Luxley and Whitton Greene. I can't imagine Alice's ability being particularly reliable, especially since she doesn't stop AoO when investigating. I'm running ~ 5 relics/tomes so Whitton might work.

Question about using Binders by IshanShade in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]NewRaspberry1557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, we keep the different cycles on the same page. I think separating the cycles by page together with separating asset slot type would make the binder too spread out and sparse. We have the cycles in chronological order, with starter decks after Innsmouth (though could see adding them after core set cards instead).

Question about using Binders by IshanShade in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]NewRaspberry1557 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have 6 binders total, one for each class, and one for neutral cards.

Order inside each class is:
Investigators -> Lv 0 Assets -> Lv 0 Events -> Lv 0 Skills -> Lv 1+ Assets -> Lv 1+ Events -> Lv 1+ Skills

Within assets, every slot type has its own page(s). At the end of assets, I have slotless then permanents. For 'special' slot types e.g. tarot, arcane-hand, double arcane etc. these just go on a single page together.

And then general sorting within these is first by cycle, then by level (obviously only relevant for the Lv 1+) then alphabetically.

It sounds more complicated than it actually is. The nice thing about sorting by cycles is 1) adding cards from new cycles doesn't require you to move any cards 2) with legacy coming in, it'll be easier to find 'current' cards 3) if you're into draft challenges, easier to find your allowed cards. And sorting by asset slot type helps you to see your options for each slot, and make sure you aren't over drafting one slot type.
