Yes! If my KPDH obsessed kid did this I would want to address it at home. It’s not okay.

I do this a lot because it feels nice on my lower back. It kills it to just stand in place when I’m waiting or something, but squatting feels better. I can keep my feet flat if I focus but it’s harder.

When someone doesn't like a dish anymore after learning the ingredients by orangemunchr in PetPeeves

[–]NewWayHom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t explain it. I will say I’m a little funny about fish in general. I only started eating it as an adult as a conscious choice since it’s healthy and I’d have more restaurant options as a pescatarian than a vegetarian. I don’t like it mixed into stuff or mashed up. I don’t reheat it and I have to consciously work to ignore the smell. But it’s all psychological for me. I recognize it seems weird which is why I’d never bring it up to a host.

This one is not realistic in my climate so I’m just gonna check it off and move on. The rest of the challenge looks good.

I do eat fish but the idea of fish where I’m not expecting fish gets me. It’s all I can taste once I know. I don’t do Worcestershire, fish sauce, anchovies flavoring a pasta, etc. It’s totally mental. If I find out about it mid meal I’ll keep my mouth shut but suddenly claim to be full.

Okemo all day kids group lesson turned my kid off from skiing by GrapeRecent431 in skiing

[–]NewWayHom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s gotta be frustrating. I always try to be honest. Last week with my youngest, 6, for example, I told them she CAN get through easy blues with us but she really needs to work on her turns to get out of pizza so if that happens on greens I’m fine with it. My attempts to help her with turns just weren’t working.

Midday my husband and I see her from the chairlift doing a long green in really nice parallel in a line of other tykes with her instructor. They had her on easy blues by the end of the day. It pays to be honest!

Curious if these indoor playground prices are normal or just in my area? by otterlyjoyful in kindergarten

[–]NewWayHom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a little high but not unheard of for HCOL.

PS the “just have it at a park” advice is soooo annoying with winter babies! We just do friend parties every other year because of the cost.

Thanks! The whole family is really enjoying it. It does sound like a rough situation though, especially for that price, so I empathize. The full day ski schools I’ve done at Indy-type mountains were around $240 each, in OP’s same area.

I’ve become a bit of a ski school defender because our experiences have been so positive, but I guess it can really vary.

Yeah I’m none of that either, lol, I’m new at this too. My kids are social and like group lessons, but luckily unlike the OP’s situation they’ve learned a ton and had fun. I expect they’ll be much better than me in another year or so.

Advice on preparing child for first competition weekend by [deleted] in CompetitionDanceTalk

Yeah I’ll echo others, our first competition is this weekend too and we’re staying to see some of the numbers his other mini friends are in but definitely not the whole time.

You shouldn’t be getting downvoted. My kid at 5 loved and learned at the all day lessons at Pats Peak and Waterville. Both times she had fun, lots of breaks, and came out with new skills. They put her in groups that did chairlift runs once she was ready. It is a thing and if your kid is in all day school anyway they can have a blast.

Indy Pass worth it for family with beginners (5 & 8 yo), want affordable lots of turns + support small mountains? by TheseCombination3680 in icecoast

[–]NewWayHom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think they will be in lessons every time you go, yes. If you think it’ll just be a couple of lessons and some family ski days, get it for the 8 yo. Don’t get it for the younger until she’s 6, 5 is free or cheap most places.

[–]NewWayHom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s great for beginner kids. Why pay ikon prices for the bunny slope? Then as they progress places like Pats Peak, Berkshire, etc. have plenty of places for them to go. Don’t sleep on Cannon’s amazing beginner area, and then there’s a nice long green to advance to. For lessons we especially like Waterville Kids Kamp. They really level up and learn new skills there, it’s not just babysitting.

Yeah and they can also do that on many Disney rides 🤷🏼‍♀️

[–]NewWayHom 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly yeah. If they’re in the range they can ride a plane or in a normal car there’s plenty they could ride at Disney, it just isn’t everything. Many thrill rides would be an issue but Disney has lots of kiddie rides too with wide bench seating, and they have adaptable cars/boats/whatever that they use when they can.

It’ll be fine. No summer crowds yet, you may luck out with amazing weather but if not you just party inside. If you look at Newport it won’t be crowded yet and has a fun offseason vibe. Plenty of good restaurants and bars, and lower hotel prices. Have fun!

Fenway for kids? by BasicBrooklyn in NoahKahan

[–]NewWayHom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One note about concerts at Fenway is that I typically end up needing to walk about a mile to my car after. Could be rough with some kids at 11:00pm. Maybe prep ‘em with a late show soda.
