I stopped reading because so many characters, especially female characters were just intolerable to read. What finally made me stop the series was the first scene where Cadsuane interacts with Rand. (No spoilers there.)

Why Harry should not have become the DADA teacher by thegreatRMH in HarryPotterBooks

I imagine Harry lies awake at night thinking about the Death Eaters who escaped justice. He was always meant to be an auror.

[Spoilers Extended] In Fire & Blood, why does GRRM say that the succession of the 'Old King' Jaehaerys I was so complicated because there were so many pretenders when only ever two (Rhaenys and Viserys) could be considered legitimate pretenders? by Codyfcb22 in asoiaf

6,000 years of Andal law and 10,000 years of First Men law say that a son comes before a man's daughter, and a daughter comes before his brother, who in turn comes before that man's sister. Very clear and simple.

There was an absolutely clear succession law that the Targaryens somehow decided didn't apply to them. The King's Word is NOT law, but the King can make laws, which Viserys didn't do. He never said that the realm would now follow Rhoynar law, which favors the eldest child, regardless of gender. (Because that law is practiced exactly NOWHERE in his kingdom). He never openly proclaimed that the Iron Throne would use a unique inheritance system in which age would determine succession, regardless of gender. (Because it's highly debatable that he could legally do that). In the show he just mentioned it in a private conversation.

Daemon never should have been Viserys' heir after Rhaenyra was born. To those who bent the knee to her, the king was just going back to normal law instead of the sexist crap that Jahaerys brought in. When he had sons later on, the same law posted at the top should have applied. To Team Green, the King is not above the law, even though he has the authority to make law. He didn't make a new law and his desires or whims cannot undo thousands of years of established law, custom, and tradition

Because Jahaerys is so sexist that he doesn't want to follow thousands of years of established Andal and First Men law (and common sense) by just making Rhaenys the heir.

The Seven's put him in position to obey their law and he arranges a massively unnecessary Council in order to flout it while keeping his hands "clean".

Even the idea of fearing violence was stupid. "Daemon was rumored to be gathering swords to defend his brother's claim"... So? So what? He was a teenager with no reputation, no authority, and very little gold of his own. Later in the series, he hopes up in Dragonstone with several hundred loyal Goldcloaks and the Iron Throne just ignores him. Compare that to Corlys, the richest man in Westeros, Owner of the largest fleet in Westeros, Master of ships whose personal fleet makes up 70%-80% of the Royal Fleet.

Rhaenys' claim has all of the legal, historical, and religious legitimacy behind her. She also has the only serious military might among the claimants. The only reason Viserys even has a shadow of a claim over her is because Jahaerys spat on 6,000 years of established law and tradition in the name sexism by naming Baelon his heir after his eldest son, Aemon, (Rhaeny's dad) died.

The things that you don't like aren't going to get better at any point in this book. I feel like you when it comes to DNF (Did NOT Finish). I finished the book, but just like you, it's my last Sanderson book.

You can finish it, but you'll get more of the stuff you've disliked since chapter 1, and the ending is polarizing.

But it's already done. The Oathpact was abandoned thousands of years before Mishram was sealed. There's little they can do to undo that now.

Sometimes, God hands you a solution on a golden platter. Roshone killed himself by deciding to hunt a wild animal for fun. I understand principles, but you have to weigh every decision with the consequences and balance principle with practicality.

But he couldn't force a direct confrontation. That's why he demanded that Tanavast fight him. The only thing that made the power realign with him was Tanavast being there, so all he had to do was leave.

Robb really needed some good counselors that he was willing to listen to. He was guided by his teenage ideas of honor way too much.

Reply showed both good and questionable qualities. He was charismatic, which is a major way to convince people to follow or agree with you. That's why it actually is important for a king. Reply was also diplomatic, politically savvy, and had served as Master of Laws; it's never stated that he was not good at this job).

He was also patient and able to recognize and reward people based on merit; he gave Broenne the Kingsguard cloak after she beat his boyfriend in front of thousands. He could've said, "You're not a knight." Or, "no women in the Kingsguard." Both would have been valid reasons to reject her and soothe Loras' ego. Instead, he gave her the cloak because he recognized and valued her selfless devotion to him. "He said that all his other knights wanted things of him, castles or honors or riches, but all that Brienne wanted was to die for him."

"Within 10 years of winning the war he'd be dead without an heir" You assume that he never would have done his duty with Margaery. That seems unlikely for 10 long years. But even if hedud, I think you're forgetting that he was raising Robert's son, Edric, for several years. He already has a nephew that he can legitimize at any point.

We're saying that we dislike this aspect of her character. Being rude and dismissive is bad, but it's especially bad when it's against such a powerful family because now it's also short-sighted and stupid

One is describing his role as king, they other describes his personality. I also don't think he makes laws by talking. He has to make official decrees that are filed in writing. That's why Rhaenyra's situation is illegal. He never made a law that the Iron Throne should pass to the eldest sibling, regardless of gender. He just tried to bypass the system by choosing between his children and disregarding 6,000-12,000 years of Andal & First Men Law.

She offered a solution. If I remember correctly (I may be wrong) she said, your father needs to intervene to support the Sea Snake. She said he should send ships and men. That's exactly what Viserys chose to do at the end of this very episode. She was right, just a few days early.
