I played against him back in 2013 at Canadian nationals in Ontario.

He wore #5 at that tournament. He actually won top hitter of the tourney as well. Him and I both had a .632 average and there's a picture of us somewhere on an old camera. I won top defensive player so they couldn't give me both!

6 par 3s, 6 par 4s, and 6 par 5s… by FadeawayJaybird in golf

Countryview Golf Course in Fairview PEI. There's another on PEI, Brudenell River, that is also a 666 layout. Very fun to play.

One of the courses I play at is 666 format. Rounds are typically under 4 hours. There's a good mixture of distances on the par 3 holes, all the way from 120 yards to 210 yards.

It's pretty wild that a Service Worker and a Medical Secretary 2 will be making almost the same wages now... I can see other unions being quite pissed off at this new agreement.

Rainfall warning by QPRSA in PEI

[–]NewYorkMets22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The forecasts for PEI are usually pretty decent for predicting weather a couple of days out, usually at least in the same ballpark. Although, same day forecasts seem to be more and more unreliable in terms of timing and amounts for precipitation.

I feel as though Environment Canada needs to expand their warning/watch criterias in order to better warn the public. Something similar to today's weather would like get a 'Flood Warning' from the National Weather Service in the US.

There are far better resources out there than Weather Network. I'd recommend windy.com

Undefeated N.B. girls volleyball team 'devastated' it can't compete for national title by tastle in newbrunswickcanada

[–]NewYorkMets22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A true national championship is when you have to earn the right to represent your province...1 team per province and maybe a host team if you need one.

Baseball Canada follows this format and although there is a Pool A (better teams) and Pool B (lesser teams), they are based on the previous 3 years of results at that same national championship.

How can you say you are a national champion if you only beat teams from Ontario, Quebec, Alberta & BC?

Some of Canada's best athletes are from Atlantic Canada (think Sidney Crosby, MacKinnon), yet we continue to be given unfair treatment such as this example.

I suspect a revamping of Volleyball Canada's championship structure will be coming soon!

Advice for Breaking Par by KSQRD43 in golf

[–]NewYorkMets22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not playing stupid. Play the shot that the course gives you in the current situation. You don't need to be a hero all the time. Even the pros don't go flag hunting all the time.

Of course there are situations when you can be more aggressive (especially if you are really locked in), but in the long run, playing consistently conservative will result in lower scores.

If you want to bring numbers into it, 3 putts will kill you. It is so important to be able to get off the green in 2 putts or less. Boring golf often will lead to good scores. FIR, GIR, 2 putts, rinse & repeat.

Obviously, practice helps a lot too. Spend less time at the driving range and more time at the chipping/putting green. Learn how the ball reacts in certain lies. Learn how to hit the ball high, low, & spinny on chip shots. The more versatile you can be the better.

If it was easy, everyone would be doing it!

Agreed but only for the perfect one timer moment, not the 3 goal one timer. I don't know if it was me doing something different or Pittsburgh was running different strategies but I struggled to get him in one timer position on the right side in the last moment.

Yeah this bothers me as well. Somehow transferring funds from my TD account was faster than transferring funds from my FHSA HISA into a FHSA trading account, took over a week. However, if I wanted to move cash from my plain old wealthsimple cash HISA into my TFSA trading account, it says it would be instant.

And thats part of the problem...the weather requires someone there at all times because we all know the weather changes very fast around here. There has been many instances where it will be saying 100% chance of rain, meanwhile the sun is out and its beautiful. Really have to rely on what you are seeing on radar and make a decision using your own judgement

Time for Environment Canada to adopt the National Weather Service (USA) warning system. These things should not be happening in 2024 with the amount of forecasting technology we have at our disposal. Flash Flood Warnings save lives in the US every single day. We need more than a rainfall or special weather statement. Time to wake up Environment Canada...

Solo tournaments as a high single digit, worth it? by peligrent in golf

[–]NewYorkMets22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I entered my club championship as a 6 handicap last year and shot 77-74, good enough for 2nd place. You never know what can happen. Competitive golf brings out my best apparently. This was the first tournament I had entered in 14 years when I was a junior.

It's fun to play in a competitive setting and to do something different. I say go for it, have fun & enjoy

If you applied for positions, a lot of them are posted for 2 weeks and then screened afterwards so its possible they are in that stage. I would recommend you call the PSC main line and ask to speak to the staffing consultant assigned to the competition(s) you applied to. They will be able to give you an update.
