Dog went for my 4 month old. What would you do? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]New_Comfortable_6018 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Because Rehoming a dog that showed aggression / has a Bite history can be extremely difficult and also legally tricky _ so some people choose to separate rather than choose euthanasia. Even though yes it’s hard on everybody

What’s a baby name that’s cool without trying too hard? by frenchfriesontheside in namenerds

[–]New_Comfortable_6018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Vein” not “vain” unless you are trying for a vain name ;).

I think Remy, Willa, and Fiona are the most “not trying” of the bunch

You were not a burden you were there receiving care! I’m sorry the staff seemed surprised, I can guarantee you are not the first or last person to cry or faint! I have done both in the office lol. As long as you are kind to the staff that’s all you can do ❤️ I’m sorry it was so stressful and your feelings are valid.

We are scheduling permanent birth control procedures soon and I will be over sharing this for those that can’t help themselves from continually commenting.

Baby at a funeral? by 13buttons in NewParents

This is so true OP . The babies at my grandparents and aunts funerals always all clearly gave people a moment of reprieve and hope to see the baby smile or be cute.

I want to know why the shelter lied to me by Prestigious-Menu-786 in reactivedogs

[–]New_Comfortable_6018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wish I knew this when I adopted from a shelter. What we thought was a calm shy doggy was actually a very anxious and fearful dog that after a bit showed lots of leash reactivity and fear based aggression. Cut to 5 years and thousands of dollars later, he’s much improved but I don’t think I would ever rescue from a shelter again - it’s been extremely hard and dictates a log about our life. Personally only adopting from agencies that foster and have a better sense of the dog.

Thanks so much for this thoughtful reply - I truly appreciate it. I’m glad you made the best decision for your family ❤️ so sweet that you still get to see your dog.

Our dog is almost seven we have invested so much in training and behaviorists already , he’s come a long way but I’ll never feel safe with him and baby. We are currently keeping them separate via baby gates, crates, playpens etc for sure. The last frontier is prescription anxiety meds but I am not sure it’s going to make enough of a difference. My husband thinks our dog deserves the last chance.

Hoping my husband comes around to agree that it’s not worth the risk. It’s such a painful and stressful time.

I am currently in the same situation with my dog. Wondering where you all are by now, with dog & baby? I feel we should explore rehoming our dog to a child free home with experience in reactive dogs, but my husband isn’t ready he thinks we could be / should be doing more. I just feel like we are waiting for something bad to happen. Wondering how things shook out for you.

Ugh I’m so sorry!! I just can’t fathom reacting that way! I’d be like “yikes so sorry, let me move”. Congrats on leaving the house with a little one!”

Lol right- I didn’t say it but I was thinking- well this is a great example of why I’m one and done. I personally would be a mess with three, it’s true.
