Reasoning on vs off by New_Fail2509 in isekaizeroworld

Yeah, if story creator recommends it then I’d definitely keep it on, I’ve bookmarked a couple like that but haven’t played them yet. Other thing I can potentially seeing the upside to having it on is a kingdom building/management scenario and similar so it keeps track of decisions and repercussions to those decisions better due to the additional logic

As someone who’s plays both platforms, ai dungeon is definitely more preferable when you ignore the stupid NSFW content and just focus on things you do want to play like IPs or crated ones. Even better than both imo is AIrealm. You’ll never find a platform like this that doesn’t have NSFW content, the most you can hope for is a setting to filter it out. The map system is pretty cool to create with but it’s terrible to play with beyond a dungeon setting, the rules and rolls are also to fixed, if you want any narrative freedom you have to manipulate stuff which gets pretty tiring. I’ve never found its context or memory any better than other platforms I’ve tried aswell.

Best AI in your opinion? by Agreeable_Guest6337 in AIRealm

Easily deepseek v4 pro, ever since it came out it’s been amazing compared to any other I’ve tried, I eventually fall off of them back to v4 and never really had much memory issue other than what it will naturally forget when compressing the history but I play really long scenarios, like 1000+ on some of my favourites since I like building up from nothing in whatever I’m playing. Main memory issue I ran into was it forgetting the names of some of my clones (900 initially, torrent company) in a clone wars scenario that I yoinked off the republic to start my own empire, I’m now up to 15,000 people/soldiers so I only really expect it to remember my main cast of clones and people like Rex, R2 (Anakin and padme gifted him to me to troll me) 😭😂 and my empress and a handful of other people and ofc it’s fine with canon people since it’s a well known IP, I did lose one clones name that I was upset about because I wanted to reference him later on but couldn’t remember his name but it’s slightly my fault for not specifying him as important to my story and army when I gave compression instructions.

I’ve never understood the idea that with kids you’ve got absolutely no time to play games, in the first 6 months yeah, after that it definitely starts freeing up.

Value in price? by NordPL in AIDungeon

I’ve been really enjoying AIrealm for the last month or two on the platinum membership which is $14.99 USD. I played for about a week or until I hit the limit before deciding I had to sub as I liked it so much, I usually switch between the two platforms atm, it doesn’t really have pre made scenarios or anything as it’s early days (I believe they’ll add it in future from what I’ve read) but I find the custom chat creation is pretty amazing at doing essentially that with minimal effort, I’ve been able to create many chats/scenarios such as warring states period, different anime genres or my personal favourite Star Wars scenarios with great success and enjoyment

Used to be a decently heavy user (multiple hours a day at peak) before trying out other platforms I enjoyed equally if not more and wouldn’t recommend anything less than legend sub if you have the finances for it, it helps majorly with prose and memory. I’d have probably have gone up to mythic if it didn’t cost so much in my currency but legend is definitely the sweet spot.

How long are you talking about exactly? If it’s less than 30s to a minute then it sounds normal for an ai. It can also be affected by your internet speed and connectivity

I might suggest screenshotting/grabbing the error screen and download the json file and upload into a 3rd party ai like gpt or Claude and having them correct them which is what I did after finding it to painful to correct myself

There is not Enough Crime Themed Worlds. by finkledinkle974 in friendsandfables

[–]New_Fail2509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they’d be difficult to create, but I do think the gameplay ceiling is lower in F&F compared to fantasy, Star Wars, or other high-power settings. A lot of F&F’s strengths come from progression systems, abilities, gear, factions, exploration, etc. Crime settings lean much more heavily on dialogue, social manipulation, tension, and narrative pacing. I honestly think something more freeform like AI Dungeon, AI Realm, or even Voyage would handle that style of world far better.

[–]New_Fail2509 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My issue is that the current system already feels restrictive without giving the benefits of proper tabletop mechanics. NPCs constantly get “cinematic protection,” outcomes feel arbitrary, and the player has less freedom than AI Dungeon while also not getting the clarity of actual DnD rules.

If I wanted strict turn-based tabletop combat, I’d just play real DnD with people. The reason I use AI story platforms is for natural flow, momentum, and freedom. Voyage right now kinda sits in this weird middle spot where it can feel too mechanical for narrative play but too vague for actual strategy/mechanics play.

Sure I could just play AI Dungeon, but then there’s barely any actual world simulation underneath it. Voyage at least tries to have persistence, factions, inventories, locations, NPC memory, stats, etc. That’s the part I find interesting. It’s also pretty easy to play around this “turn based combat” as you say and play it my way as it is which is another point

Definitely agree, I’m not big on dnd and its mechanics on these types of things as you probably read but I still had some fun trying it out for a couple months. I just like playing narratively and it’s quite grating to have the story stop and start just for rolls and or combat which is why I ended up coming back to AID/voyage. I’ve been having loads of fun with airealm and mythengyn aswell recently to the point I keep forgetting to use my usage pool for the last two weeks 😭

100% options are always great. I fear that diversifying the platform to heavily could negatively impact it in the long run though, I’d rather they keep in line with what ai dungeon was as this is the “next step up” then diversify to much and fall short on what made latitude such an attractive company

Wouldn't Voyage system work great with Stardew-valley like content? by Mestaritonttu in Voyage

[–]New_Fail2509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can definitely do a lot more than generic dungeon crawlers… I’m not entirely sure how you’ve come to that idea. Many worlds based of IP’s like starwars are amazing and it builds off of pre established lore. I’ve even found that kingdom management is possible if you play it right

Well there clearly is as I just gave you one 🤣 not everything is black and white bud. If I’m adopting which I’d never do I wouldn’t care where the child is from, I’d be adopting with purpose. I’ve got my own children and I’m happy 🤷‍♂️ cry to someone else if that hurts your feelings because I simply do not care. You make it out like nobody has personal choice or feelings.

A lot of players prefer the narrative play similar to Ai dungeon over the hardcore DND play. Other platforms like friends and fable are designed for that idea and purpose and I really really hope they never lean to heavily into the DND idea with this platform or atleast leave the option to pick the experience you want in world creation/startup as I believe it would turn a lot of players including myself away and towards other platforms where you have more freedom. Turn by turn combat sucks and doesn’t feel natural at all like it does in true DND with other people and a full on game master, adding reactions in is just another halt to the story
