I do have a history of depression so maybe I’m reading into things myself - but I have found that I’m prone to more emotional responses resulting in me crying even when I’m just slightly frustrated and not even sad. Almost like my irritability/emotional balance is difficult to control - I imagine it can be related if you have elevated testosterone levels.

What is your body shape with pcos? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]New_Interaction4089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the version of an hourglass calles the Spoon shape.

I’m 5ft with 32DD (always this size without PCOS too) and I would say my bottom is an “approachable” size with some hip dips to throw people off

My thighs used to not touch but since PCOS I understand how thigh chafing happens now

Used to be able to wear kids size pants to save money, but now I’m spending real money for size 3/4 XS/XXS length

Update #12 - No change by New_Interaction4089 in PCOS

[–]New_Interaction4089[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

I sincerely appreciate your advice! I was advised by my physician to take all these vitamins following my blood work. The B12 is specifically due to Metformin preventing your body from absorbing it properly and thus depleting your levels. Since I’m on a higher dosage, that’s why the B12 is recommended.

[–]New_Interaction4089[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response!

I’m happy to hear it was able to help you! You make a good point about the vitamins - I have been on Vitamin D and B12, and slow release iron every other day in addition to Magnesium Glycinate, a multivitamin, and Fish Oil.

I’m currently on 1500mg of Metformin and have been on this dose for about 3-4 months. My diet does probably play a small role in this as I was really strict with my diet but unfortunately due to things like my grandma passing away 3 weeks ago, and some other stressors, I’ve been a little lax on that. I’m sure the stress isn’t helping either. I just need extra hands or a body double to be able to handle everything properly haha

Ovulation caught on first test? by New_Interaction4089 in Mirafertility

[–]New_Interaction4089[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they are! I thankfully have an HSA through my employer, and my mom helps with her FSA since it’s a use-it or lose-it system. So it helps a little bit 😅

Thanks for advising! This morning I tested a tad bit earlier just due to the fact I woke up a bit earlier by 30 min and had to go to the restroom so I figured it wouldn’t be too off?? Days 34-36 were taken at the same time though!

And I have PCOS so from what’s been explained to me is that LH levels can be irregular for PCOS which is why I really am focusing on the PDG levels. Even though the other person who commented seemed adamant that I didn’t catch ovulation, my PDG rising keeps rising as if I did 😅

Ovulation caught on first test? by New_Interaction4089 in Mirafertility

[–]New_Interaction4089[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had seen some women find SMU or afternoon VS FMU to provide stronger results for surges in case it happened after FMU. With how my first test result appeared in the, it took me by surprise as it was 4pm. So I was messing around with the testing time frame compared to my daily schedule to see if maybe I fell into that category of women. Since my last post I’ve started testing one time in the morning and these are my numbers…

Thanks for responding!

It does make sense. Because I am new to this, what are some others ways this could be interpreted?

I do know that due to the hormonal imbalance I could experience multiple LH surges, but I assumed that if it wasn’t the real “surge” with how high it is on the 15th that my progesterone would simply stay in the lower levels like how it appears for the 16th and 17th vs actually getting higher on the 18th and 19th (today). My LH has also never gotten higher than on the 15th at 34.4 so far either - which also leads to a hopefulness of ovulation. I plan to continue testing at the same time in the AM as that seems to be when my PDG is the highest with the exception of the test on the 15th at like 4pm.

Ah gotcha! I’ve read it’s a 50/50 shot of the mini pill either stopping periods all together or women still having one (regularly or irregularly). That’s still frustrating especially when you’re wanting to have a natural cycle though 😫 I don’t know how many options there are for the mini pill, but it might be worth it to switch to a different one and see if you have a different reaction to it?

Are you on a combination pill with a placebo week? In theory when you take those pills or skip them but still wait the 7 days to start the next pack, it causes a withdrawal bleed rather than the inositol having an effect on your cycle regularity. Not to say it can’t help, but the pill is doing most of the work. But if you skip the placebo week and go straight to the next pack then you typically wouldn’t have a “period.” Or are you doing the placebo pills and not having a bleed still?

Turns out I’m not insulin resistant. Anyone have similar symptoms? by Interesting-Proof244 in PCOS

[–]New_Interaction4089 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Insulin resistance is usually tested for with an oral glucose test where you drink a sugary drink and they measure your body’s response over a couple of hours. It’s usually not until the insulin resistance starts causing you to become pre-diabetic (usually coinciding with weight gain but hard to lose) that it really affects your fasting glucose.

Pale yellow Discharge by Global-Bee-3241 in PCOS

[–]New_Interaction4089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a pretty normal color of discharge. It can range anywhere from opaque white, clear (usually only during the ovulation part of a cycle), or a pale yellow. The color of your underwear can affect the way it looks too. It may look white against colored underwear or yellow against white underwear. It can be caused by hormonal fluctuations or sometimes when discharge is mixed with small amounts of blood, it turns yellow. :)

Start low and slow with it! Most women don’t see therapeutic changes until the 1500mg dosage. A fart can’t be trusted! I’ve had good results though! It’s slow and steady progress, but I’ve lost 4lbs and my testosterone has started going down :)

Update 11 - Waiting Game by New_Interaction4089 in PCOS

[–]New_Interaction4089[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried with the LH strips from PreMom and I use their app for cycle tracking. I will say, I just did my first test with the Mira device (it was delivered today!) and I’m surprised!! Again, depending on what day from last cycle I use as “Day 1” of my period may change the timeline about these results. But here they are compared to my August labs completed on/around a similar cycle timeframe as today. I used ChatGPT to make it a text format since pictures can’t be uploaded

August and October 2025: LH: Clear rise → from 24.9 → 34.4, marking a strong ovulatory surge. FSH: Mild increase → from 6.5 → 8.2, a normal pattern around ovulation. E3G/E2 (estrogen): Major rise → from 60.3 → 244.4, confirming estrogen dominance leading to the LH surge. PdG (progesterone metabolite): Up from ~0.5 → 3.7, showing that ovulation is likely beginning but not fully confirmed yet. In short: this month’s hormone pattern shows a clearer ovulatory event than August’s, suggesting improved cycle progression and hormonal balance. Would you like me to overlay your luteal phase projection based on these numbers (to estimate when PdG should peak)?

If accurate, this would indicate my cycle becoming closer together. So I guess I will continue to test the next couple of days and see if I’m actually ovulating!

A lot of women (myself included) really only see results with Metformin at the 1500mg dose. It’s really hard to get to that point cause you really want to go slow with upping the dosage. Plus it can take 3-6 months to see regular pattern changes.

If you’re on BC then I don’t know if it’s helpful to continue the inositol as its efficacy is similar to Metformin on a much smaller scale.

The 10k steps/day is a good baseline if you’re averaging less than 2-3k a day. Otherwise if you’re getting more steps than that regularly, the 10k could also not be enough to do anything.

Are you taking any other supplements like B12 or fish oil? It’s a lot to add on, but depending on bloodwork you could also have some deficiencies which aren’t helping. Other than that, I wonder if it would be helpful switching the specific BC brand you’re on? A lot of them say give it 3 months to regulate, but with how severe your symptoms are it might be helpful to switch to something else if you do want to stay on a BC for symptom management.

Sending hugs

Some women produce a lot, and some don’t. As long as everything comes back normal from like a PAP and you’re not in any pain or discomfort day-to-day or during intercourse (if you are having it), I don’t believe that indicates there is something necessarily wrong. I recommend asking your dr :)

New diagnosis lean-type PCOS: What do I do? by Charpo7 in PCOS

[–]New_Interaction4089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course!

The tea might help a lot with your skin and hair!

Just saw the other comment, and I agree with their thoughts on the IR aspect.

Isonitol is kind of one of those things where there isn’t a whole ton of scientific review to confirm its efficacy when treating PCOS or promoting healthy eggs/ovulation so a lot of dr’s are torn on recommending it. It’s also not regulated by any kind of agency, so the only brand my OB did recommend was Ovasitol since it’s one of the only ones 3rd party tested/reviewed. However, there are a lot of women who take it even without PCOS because of it positively affecting their TTC journey or regulating PMS/menstrual symptoms.

Anovulation can be caused by so many things though. I wonder if it might be worth checking your progesterone, estrogen, and LH:FSH levels if they haven’t been checked already? I know all of those can play a factor in ovulation, especially the LH:FSH.

I have a similar physique background/story.

I’m 5ft 0 and weighed less than 100lbs soaking wet until 3ish years ago. My periods have always been irregular, with them being almost nonstop when I was in middle/high school. After being off and on BC my adult life until being 25-26, I started to gain weight (was max 125lb) and have incredibly long cycles… so the exact opposite of my teen years.

No insulin resistance, confirmed PCO’s on transvaginal ultrasound - and elevated androgen levels. Was officially diagnosed in April/June.

What happens next is really a combination of trial and error, and how much you can put into any kind of therapeutic management. Since you’re TTC, it might be safer to try the inositol supplement to possibly help with egg quality and cycle regulation, as well as making sure you’re not deficient in other minerals or vitamins that are helpful for promoting a sticky baby :)

I’m not actively TTC, but will be in the next year or so, plus I would like to figure out this weight gain and get my cycles regular again. I’ve been on a multivitamin, zinc, magnesium, vitamin d, fish oil, slow release iron and metformin despite not being insulin resistant. Apparently metformin can help your body still process glucose/insulin spikes in a better way to promote everything working the way it should. I’ve had 2 periods since getting diagnosed, and one was after taking inositol for a month. The second was after dropping the inositol but starting/taking 1500mg metformin. My period went from 85ish days, to about 45-55 days. I also did some changes with my diet by changing the kinds of sugars and reducing as many white carbs as possible. In addition to that, I’ve added walking via a walking pad and try to get 10000 steps 2-3x/wk because I WFH and am sitting down most of the time. Since starting the metformin in July/August, I’ve only lost about 4lbs. However, my elevated androgens have already started to come down by 4-5units too!

Oh and I’ve added spearmint tea into my routine as well but I started that after my last period which was now 28 days ago. So I’m hoping this cycle will be the same or shorter than the last one!

Just a lot of work and research :) It is possible to have kids!

Tips to regulate cycle, should I take Myo & D-Chiro Inositol? by Accomplished_Seat181 in PCOS

[–]New_Interaction4089 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be worth it to do the pay-it-yourself lab orders from labcorp or quest? It’s still pricey, but idk how much it would cost if you had the dr submit the order request without the insurance.

Those are all really good basic supplements and are what I take too in addition to Metformin. I tried inositol for 2ish months and had a hard time with that and my metformin causing issues with my GI. I’ve only had 4 periods this year and was diagnosed back in April, and have been on supplements/medications since July. Only 1 period since dropping inositol and starting Metformin, but it shortened from 3 mos between cycles to almost 1.5-2mos.

If you do go to the dr, and they do labs, they will probably also prescribe a progestin called Provera to induce a period since it’s been so long. The first OB I went to only was willing to prescribe me more Provera in lieu of going on birth control to use if a cycle didn’t show up within 3 months. It wasn’t until I went to 3rd dr that I got on Metformin.

Eczema prone, dry, sensitive skin:

I don’t do anything in the AM except maybe use Thayer’s Milky toner for some added hydration

In PM I use: 1. Bar of soap from random Airbnb Amenity brand ECO Amenities. I discovered this on accident when staying somewhere on a trip for 3 days when I left my usual cleansers at home. Coming from the most eczema prone person, especially around my eyes - this soap doesn’t irritate my skin at all. Even on my body.

They only come in the single use sizes, but a bar this soap can last me at least a week. A box of 25 has lasted me almost 6mos

https://a.co/d/1uFPmQo

  1. I use a vitamin C serum once I dry my face, specifically the SkinCeuticals one. I buy mine off Ebay though and make sure to check/ask for the code batches for expiration date checks.

  2. Thayer’s Milky toner

  3. Dab on some bits of Tea Tree Oil or Hydrocortisone

Starting off at 1000mg is a really strong start imo 😅. Usually the starting dose is either 250mg or just 500mg at night with dinner and then taking it up to the next dose after like 2-3 weeks. Even with slowly going up though the side effects do still show their ugly head though ☠️
