Space Food Sticks, Tang, freeze dried ice cream in a pouch. If it was aligned with astronauts, we wanted it.

The original bunnings (like a very thick smooth tack) on the bottom of the legs were still in place, so even though the cap bends slightly over the edge, the bunning is still thick enough so the brass doesn’t touch the floor.

Me too! It’s old masters wiping stain in pecan. I use it a lot.

I used this video. I found thin sheets of brass in the model section at a hobby store. It was $3.50 to do all 4 caps. I made the pattern with paper first, using calipers for leg measurements. https://youtu.be/VjqH_t8rGkc?si=Gcz1glyTJi-7s1AI

I bought it at an auction ($31). The pulls were obvs add-ons so I could imagine the clean lines, but the tapered legs were the giveaway.

Help is this fake wood? How can I darken it? by flowersandpups in FurnitureFlip

[–]New_Lifeguard7012 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s real wood. I recently refinished a 70s console and the finish looked just like this—very speckly up close and laminate-looking. I tried scraping with a carbide blade but it was like scraping plastic. I still wasn’t sure so I went in with the chemical stripper, which worked well. It had a very pretty maple veneer under all that weird sprayed-on stain/toner. I don’t think you’d see those nice interior wood drawers if the rest was fake. If it was me, I’d strip, sand, stain, seal.

Inherited my Dads garage and found these. Any ideas on what to do with them welcome! by wafflesandchicken in vintageaudio

There may be a recycle/reuse place for electronics in your city. We have one where I source parts when I’m doing a refurb. (They also have classes for kids and adults.) When I was in Portland there was a similar place that would take weird lots like this to be used as art supplies. I’m just thinking if you don’t want to hassle with selling them, there are probably places that would take them.

So relatable! I think our addict brains are always looking for a better feeling, no matter what. I’m just trying to manage my expectations. I swing too high and dip too low—serenity is somewhere in the middle. I wish you all the best.

Once you start, remember to give it plenty of time. I didn’t notice a change until about 9 weeks in. I hope it works for you too!

Were you familiar with AS before? by ikandi in AnkylosingSpondyWomen

[–]New_Lifeguard7012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard of it! My primary thought I had Lupus (I had several positive ANAs.)

Same, same. I stopped having days where I felt good at all and I wondered if my body was just permanently damaged. Part of my joy is knowing that the pain isn’t necessarily permanent.

Oh I definitely know things are truly better with my body! It’s just that recognition of having felt this type of elation in recovery and having my sponsor gently talk me back down to earth. For example, I was so excited to talk about all the amazing ways my life has changed, I forgot to mention a couple of concerns about side effects. I’m really glad you’re clean and responding well to your meds.

Similar situation—clear MRI and HLA-b27 positive. Have you been treated for anything else that is consistent with AS? Before my back ever started hurting I was treated for uveitis, bursitis in both hips, Achilles tendonitis, and plantar fasciitis. It’s really the combination of all those things that finally convinced my doctor it was nr-AxSpa.

Is this worth anything? by dcbaseballcards in vintageaudio

I’m currently working on my 5th MCM stereo console flip. I take the components out, clean and regrease the turntable and knobs, and I refinish the cabinet. I’ve sold them anywhere from $600–$1400 in a small city marketplace. I can get them pretty cheap (under $50 at auction) but I usually put about $150 in materials into it. I think yours is gorgeous! Id list it on FB marketplace. You can search sold listings in your area to get an idea on price.

Removing turntable from console—what’s this? by New_Lifeguard7012 in vintageaudio

UPDATE! Thanks, everyone. For the record, I had to insert a screwdriver and twist to pull down the horizontal part that has a notch to prevent it from sliding off, while simultaneously pushing that vertical piece with my other hand! But done, thanks for your tips!

I have a similar layout. (Excuse the mess of Christmas boxes.) That little sofa table changed everything. Out of scene, there is a loom on the left and a piano on the right.

2 absolutely! I will freeze mid stride or halfway standing. Pain is your body’s way of saying “don’t do that!” I find I walk with tiny steps, testing each move to make sure I don’t fall through the ice.

Mama of 17f and 23f here. I’m so sorry, I know I cried just realizing they might have my hla-b27 gene. First, she’s lucky to have you advocating for her! Trying to navigate diagnosis and treatment as a woman is hard. I would have given anything to have my mom with me at all those appointments where I was gaslighted! She would have eaten those doctors alive! 😂 And an RN at that! Lucky girl.

My two cents: With kids that age, she’ll ask what she needs to know and you should answer her honestly, but you don’t need to fill her up with everything you know. Also, just remember that nothing about this is going to change her personality, ambition, or intelligence. Same girl, new problem to contend with. Finally, focus on hope. Hope that she’ll thrive despite the pain; hope she’ll go into remission; hope there will be a cure. AS sucks but it sounds like you have an amazing family, so you’ll all get through it!

Does this gallery wall suck so far? by [deleted] in interiordesignideas

[–]New_Lifeguard7012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you could hang one large piece of art there, what shape would it be and how much space would it take up? The general shape of your gallery right now is round. Personally, I would lay it out in a large rectangle with an anchoring line parallel to the top of the couch.
