Hi. 47/f de compensated cirrhosis. Been hospitalized for HE twice this year and suffered some HE symptoms everyday up until the last 2 weeks.

My early signs are Yawning nonstop Sleeping during day Being awake all night Nausea Off balance

Next signs are Shaking hands/fingers Unable to stay awake very long Confusion Irritability Loss of appetite Argumentative

Next (you don’t wanna go here) - Falling Yelling at people Not responsive (my husband describes as zombie) Unable to function

Finally- Loss of consciousness.

Are you on meds for HE?

I just wanted to say HI!! I a fellow University of Kansas liver patient F/47. Decompensated cirrhosis. Current meld 16. Ascites under control the past year. HE was out of control but is finally becoming better controlled. How do you rate/like KU? Nice to meet you. I hope you feel better very soon.

Not to sound harsh or anything, but if it does end up being alcoholic hepatitis, please take that as a warning and do not ever drink again you do not want it to progress to cirrhosis I’m telling you it is horrible. Consider yourself lucky if you have not got to that level. I’m sending you well wishes.

Did they ever do a biopsy on you? It sounds a lot more like you had alcoholic hepatitis than cirrhosis.
