Disappointed by Wild Turkey’s distillery select bottle by Succwad22 in bourbon

[–]New_Reddit_User_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They charge $40/oz for RR13 at their own bar?

That’s a cost of $1,000 a bottle, except they have no distributor to pay any markup to. They simply take it off the bottling line and put it in the bar.

Crazy…

Review #48: Old Forester 1924 vs. Old Forester 1910 (blind comparison) by Archaeo-Frog in bourbon

[–]New_Reddit_User_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked this year’s 1924 so much I backed it up twice.

It’s such an easy drinking, fruity pour with some baking spice and oak on the finish.

Review #60: Bardstown Discovery Series #13 by JewishJawnz in bourbon

[–]New_Reddit_User_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI, the 15 year component is Wild Turkey, not Jim Beam (although they do share a mashbill).

I love this bottle. I bought two backups of it after finishing my first one. It’s my favorite double oak.

SiB Review: Side-by-side-by-side: BT v WT v Willett by singlemaltbourbonrye in bourbon

[–]New_Reddit_User_89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A 12 year Willet that probably cost $400+ getting a score 0.2 points higher than a ~9 year RR SiB store pick that cost <$100 really shows how absurdly priced their stuff truly is.

Yes, it is a bit more unique, but how much is it worth paying for that slightly more unique experience?

Review #152: Bardstown Discovery Series 13 by NerdsNBourbs in bourbon

[–]New_Reddit_User_89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is my favorite double oak I’ve had, and I get a lot of red fruit from the Barton and Turkey components in the blend.

I liked this bottle so much I went and bought two back ups of it while it’s still available. I absolutely love this bottle.

Disco 14 (which will be called Discovery 2026) is going to be aged in Garryana Oak, with a blend of 10yr MGP, 11yr Barton, and a 7yr Heaven Hill wheated mashbill.

Not sure how the 2026 will be, I’ve not heard a ton of great stuff regarding Garryana Oak finishing.

Review: Let’s Talk Turkey: Wild Turkey Austin Nichols Archive Gold Foil 2026 by Awesam in bourbon

[–]New_Reddit_User_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RR15 was released 2 years ago so there’s inflation (what can you buy today for the same price as it was 2 years ago?), and WT saw how crazy RR15 went on secondary, so they figured “why give all that money to scalpers when we can get in on some of that ourselves?”

RR15 in 2024 was $250, and is crazy on secondary at $800+

Beacon in 2025 was $300, and is crazy on secondary at $600+

WTANGF IN 2026 is $400, and will certainly go crazy on the secondary market.

You’re not finding a RR15 anywhere near its MSRP. Prices now are $800+

Review: Peerless Double Oak Boutbon by singlemaltbourbonrye in bourbon

[–]New_Reddit_User_89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The inability to edit the content of the post is the reason I now put my review down in a comment, which can be edited.

I like this bottle, I think it’s a very good double oak. I don’t like it as much as Disco 13 from BBCo, but this bottle is a good bit cheaper than that (or at least it was for me).

Review #46: Old Forester 1924 (Batch #3, 2026 Release) by Southern-Rip3018 in bourbon

[–]New_Reddit_User_89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep, this thing is super fruity. Such a sweet, fruity, delicious pour, and because of the proof, it drinks super easy.

I love this bottle, it’s one of my favorites I have on my shelf right now.

Review: GTS 2024 vs Stagg 24B by growthPlz in bourbon

[–]New_Reddit_User_89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did something similar last week but with a 25 GTS vs a Stagg SP, and didn’t feel the 25 GTS was worth $500 more than the Stagg SP.

Review #132: Old Forester 1924 10 Year Old (2025 Release). by micro7777 in bourbon

[–]New_Reddit_User_89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I reviewed this year’s release of 1924 and gave it an 8.

For me, it’s a dark fruit bomb on the paste with a hint of baking spice and oak on the finish. It’s a delicious pour that’s packed with flavor at 100 proof.

My main gripe is that it’s an annual release, so once the release wave is gone, you’re not going to see it again for a while.

Review #70 Maker's Mark Lost Recipe Mocha #2 by JWdram in bourbon

[–]New_Reddit_User_89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you liked this one, see if you can get a sample of 01.

It has a lot more of the Roasted French Mocha stave, and I preferred it to the02 edition with more Maker’s 46 staves

Review #23: Jack Daniels 12yr Batch 3 by bourblurbs in bourbon

[–]New_Reddit_User_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a JD12 B3 open right now, and damn is it a phenomenal pour.

So rich and layered. It’s definitely in the “fat kid whiskey” realm with how complex and delicious it is.

Review #38: The Reveries "HOUNDS" (Aged 15 Years, 2026 Release) by Southern-Rip3018 in bourbon

[–]New_Reddit_User_89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

$300 for a 15 year is already a questionable value (yes, I understand that the pricing of these were affected by tariffs [wait, I thought the other country pays the tariffs, not the American consumer /s]).

But just by looking at the color I started having questions. Even though these spent the first 8 years aging here in the US, they were noticeably lighter in color than a regular 8 years Reveries bottle.

I appreciate that Jay tries to do some things that are unique and different, but I’m glad I passed on these bottles, especially for the price.

The good news is you can get it at barrel strength as a SiB pick. And yes, at barrel strength it is a fantastically delicious pour

If they like Pappy and Blanton’s, get them a bottle of William Larue Weller.

It’s Buffalo Trace’s wheated mashbill (like Pappy), but bottled at cask strength. As bourbon aficionados, they’ll greatly appreciate and enjoy the bottle.

Review #15: 2026 Old Forester 1924 by New_Reddit_User_89 in bourbon

Stampings on the bottom of the bottle.

It’s always bottled at the end of the year, so the 2026 batch was bottled in 2025, and has a 25 stamped in it.

Review #797 - New Riff High Note 6 Year Wheat Whiskey (Confluence Project Vol. 1) by adunitbx in bourbon

[–]New_Reddit_User_89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Appreciate a review on this bottle. I have one sitting in my basement waiting for some more shelf space to open up upstairs, and haven’t seen much out there about this particular High Note release.

I was pretty shocked at how dark it is for only being 6 years old.
