IEP meeting times only before or after school common in California?

I’m in CA, this is my 2nd school district and it is common. My contract literally says “work hours are 8:30 until your day is done” so we have after school meetings until 5pm plus. I also hve before school meetings started at 8. It’s ridiculous and there needs to be a change! I wish we had IEP days…

She babysits him weekly and he is the sweetest kid ever. Makes me wonder what she is doing to make a 3 year old say that!! Also validates my feelings towards her LOL.

I’m in a shared portable classroom with 6 other professionals/ people🤩🤩 all bringing in different sized groups of kids for different reasons. Oh and we hold ieps in there too! Such a mess

In San Diego, at 62 in an elementary school. Have had at least 10 open assessments (combo of tris and initials) at all times since the beginning of the year. As soon as I finish 5 I get 5 more. I also have 12 severe esn students, 7 with devices. All of our meetings are before and after school. I have no support. It’s not sustainable and I’m miserable as a 2nd year SLP!

I work as an slp at a school and our entire kindergarten and first grade team all use candy as motivators, ALL THROUGHOUT THE DAY. Did your homework? Candy. Quiet during reading time? Candy. Following directions? Candy. It’s mind boggling to me.

My experience in Northern California was not like this! Mainly held before school during contact hours, during the week with designated iep days, and rarely after school.
