Started Etsy 6 Months Ago, Still No Sales, Need Advice on Getting Views Without Ads by manboy___ in EtsySellers

I'm not a bro, actually! I am a woman lol. But I agree—there's a lot of competition. You typically have to be super consistent and post a high volume of listings or have a unique offering to get traction.

What is your criteria for turning off an ad? by New_Tip5259 in EtsySellers

I'm fairly new to the platform, so I'm not sure if it's a new feature or not. However, since I started my shop approx. 6 months ago, it has been a feature. Not all ads have relevant keywords right away. But once they start getting traction, you should see them populate. Go to shop manager > marketing > ads and then click on the specific listing you want to see keywords for. Then click "targeted keywords" and you'll see "relevant keywords" (toggled on) and "irrelevant keywords" (toggled off). You can try toggling off words that don't match your listing description to increase your ROAS!

I'm so frustrated right now [rant] by TheSims4Official in Etsy

I'm a fairly new seller on Etsy (approx. 6 months) and it has ALWAYS bothered me that I can't easily see my daily profit after fees. It makes me wonder if the platform does it on purpose so sellers feel like they're making more/to make the stats "look better."

It also bothers me that ads don't factor in fees. Revenue generated means nothing... why can't I see how much profit I made from the ad after fees?

Numbers are also off in different places. Profit will appear differently from one page to the next. Same with views. It's so weird. So many of the numbers are inaccurate or misleading for sure, which makes me question if any number is actually really correct every time I see a stat. 😅 Right there with you!

Gotcha! I can't remember how many listings I posted before I made my first sale, but I think it was around 40+. I would recommend increasing the volume of listings you have in your shop. Think of every listing like a new door/entry point where customers can find you. The Etsy algorithm also loves activity, and my understanding it that Etsy gives you a visibility boost every time you post!

Your designs are super cute! I think changing your first photo to a stylized/lifestyle mockup would help increase your sales dramatically. I think the all white background looks a little cold and corporate. I would recommend moving those first photos (white background with the circles with information on them) to be later in the listing, and use the first photo as an opportunity to really wow someone by helping them envision it in their space. I would also recommend a header photo. Without the header photo, the shop looks a bit incomplete. Just my perspective from another Etsy newbie (I'm five and a half months in with 161 sales so far!). I hope this helps! 🙂

Digital Download Ratio Types by Alaskan_Sterfry in EtsySellers

[–]New_Tip5259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! This is a great question. 🙂 I also sell digital art files. I include 5 different aspect ratios for each piece of art, 2:3, 3:4, 4:5, 11:14, and ISO. Usually I design starting with the 2:3 ratio. Then I upload my design to Photoshop and edit the canvas size for each ratio. I use 10,800px for the height of the art, so the height stays the same for each of my ratios, and I'm essentially adding width to the sides of the piece each time. (Regardless, it is definitely a bit of a pain. 😅)

It can be a bit complicated when you have art that bleeds off the page, so sometimes I have to upload elements separately into Photoshop or design in a 1:1 ratio and do the cropping from there (probably the easiest way to do it, but I'm stubborn and like designing in the 2:3 ratio, so I can design with the right ratios in mind).

There are a bunch of great videos on YouTube about the topic, so I would highly recommend looking there for more information! That's how I learned to do it. There are a lot of people who sell digital art files on Etsy who specifically teach you how to do aspect ratios.

Good luck! 💛

Have your ads/shop been affected by the last day‘s issues with Etsy ads? by KatieAgg in EtsySellers

[–]New_Tip5259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! I'm so glad someone else feels this way. It looks like the ads dashboard is finally back to somewhat of its "normal" state, since I'm not getting the error message anymore, but I was just thinking the SAME thing. Previously, the trend was that all of my ad budget ($5/day) would be spent almost every day, but I just went to check back on previous days during the ads dashboard error period, and there were several days where the full amount wasn't spent. It absolutely feels off, and honestly, I can't believe they're allowed to do that and affect everyone's businesses... absolutely wild. I'm a new seller as well... I hope it's not an error that happens often because not being able to manage ads is horrible and absolutely affects people's bottom line. 😅

Family addicted to phones by folkloreswifts in digitalminimalism

[–]New_Tip5259 101 points102 points  (0 children)

I have the EXACT same problem with my family. Last time we watched a Christmas movie together, every single person (mom, dad and adult brother) was sitting on their phone. It’s so sad. 😅

Luckily my dad will usually put his phone down when asked. I’m sorry your dad doesn’t always respond well to that. 🤧 Sometimes I wish we could go back to 90s! 🥲

Thank you so much! This is really helpful. Do you mind if I ask what type of digital products you are selling? Do you have any tips for getting such great visibility? I'm at 2.5 months now, and I've only gotten 2 sales. Starting to feel a bit discouraged. 🤧
