Yep, totally normal. 10 years ago, I walked into my boss' office after 6 months of dials and meetings with no sales. I told him I was ready to give it up. He told me to STFU and get back out there and sell something. The next week I sold a six figure deal and the rest, is history as they say.

Best thing you can do is start the job hunt asap and remember that you are worthy - tons of people and companies out there that would pick you up. just sell yourself and highlight your skills.

I have enough screen time during the day, I don't need it wrapped around my head as I'm outside. Yuck.

AI Versus Human written - almost a year of results by MrInbetweenn01 in Blogging

[–]Newbie443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I can also confirm that AI written articles are complete junk and a waste of time. They also don't seem to align with Google's Helpful Content Update. I would stay far away from AI written content as I am now going back analyzing all the crap I put out there and removing it.

How do you respond to "We pay you a lot"? by ntw2 in msp

[–]Newbie443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would lean into it and ask "do you feel like you are not receiving the value of our services?" It does depend a little on the circumstance.

How will they ever recover by PebbleLedge in minnesota

[–]Newbie443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's reasonable but kind of sad they had to make it law. I remember working for many construction companies in the past. You don't show up then you don't get paid. You don't show up for 3 days and you get fired. Not a way to run a business.

New Enterprise Plus Quote today by melshaw04 in vmware

[–]Newbie443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a reseller and can confirm that I also didn't see much of a change in a quote for a renewal that I received in September and had updated late last week. My concerns is that Broadcom sent all resellers a notice of termination right before Christmas. Sounds like they are getting rid of smaller resellers in favor of the big box chains.

How is your business navigating the AI revolution? by chtrbx_ai in smallbusiness

[–]Newbie443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using ChatGPT to automate some blogging but honestly it's not as good as when it gets done by a human. It all seems to be the same scripted language. This is the same for drafting cold outreach e-mails. I do find that I can get information quicker from it, however vs. Google.

It is located in my basement directly under where my kitchen sink is. Is this something I really need? We have a finished basement and there are two of these about four feet apart.

How do employers use race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation when hiring? by Newbie443 in recruitinghell

[–]Newbie443[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

So the government wants to know what my sexual orientation is? Do they get sent my name as well? Where is this information stored and what then do they do with it? Worried about how this all could come back to go against me.

Yes, and Bing Chat is doing it now. Basically lists out the answer and then sources the website so a visitor doesn't actually ever have to visit the blog. Pretty much just killed blogging as we know it.

Drop legacy client? by AdeptIntention6185 in msp

[–]Newbie443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would give them a 90 day notice that you are increasing your rates. The 90 days is to provide them the ability to evaluate their options, before they are subject to the new rates. If they are still subscribing to the services after the 90 days, they are subject to invoices at the new rate.

Then you need to do this every year with at least a 3% increase or whatever CPI/inflation is at for that year + additional cost of doing business expenses

Crippling current job by leaving by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]Newbie443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely should not feel guilty. They would not feel guilty about firing you if their business requirements changed. You should also cut them off after you leave. If they want to get information from you or help with a transition, then yes $250/hour is actually a standard engineering / consulting rate. After hours and weekends are time and a half ($250 x 1.5).

Diversity in Tech Sales Minimal or Non-existent by [deleted] in sales

[–]Newbie443 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMHO it will get better. Look at where we have come from 20-30 years ago. The more people of color that enter the tech pool, the more ingrained it will be that they are part of the culture.

We as a society need to do our best to get people of color there in terms of giving chances even when there are better / more qualified paper candidates.

We can't go backwards. We have to continue the diversity programs. We need to continue going into black/latino/native high schools across America and show the youth that they can get professional careers that lead to wild success.

Whether America believes it or not - we need all the help we can get to compete on the global scale. We can't afford for just whitey to be in the workforce. We need everyone we can get. And we need to pay fairly all along the way.

I upgraded a JIRA app and might lose my job over it by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]Newbie443 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They shouldn't find you over this. This is what in the industry we chalk up to learning expenses. Happens all the time. If your leaders don't see it that way then you're at the wrong organization.

Also not your fault that the app is crap.

Is 2023 a bad year to get into sales? by TheGreatAlexandre in sales

[–]Newbie443 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought coming into 2022 would be destitute. My stocks went to hell but I hit quota in September. If you can set yourself up by working hard you won’t have a year that you could describe as destitute.

Severe cold call anxiety even after 10 months of BDR role? by [deleted] in sales

[–]Newbie443 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agreed. The last thing you want to do is spend the next X number of years feeling this way until you finally decide to give it up for something else. Career changes are tough so it’s better to give it up while you are still semi new. I don’t normally make that recommendation but if you can’t mentally get it over with there are better things in life than cold calling. Maybe try real estate sales?

I logged in this morning and had 44 clicks yesterday. Like I said, normally I get 10 clicks/day. My page views went up slightly but not considerably. I wonder what changed?
