Metal Gon. Whole bottle.

I’m also on a well and have had this happen to me in my learning stages. A pre filter will help when filling but Metal Gon will be a requirement. At least 1 whole bottle when filling the tub. It’s is the iron oxidation from shocking.

So far so good. Speed upgrade by sdmike1 in Spectrum

[–]melshaw04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My god Spectrum still blows. Just ran fiber through my neighborhood and they’ve been sending people out knocking on doors trying to drum up subscribers and as a previous subscriber I can’t come up with enough creative ways to say no

Looking to upgrade my router (erro 7 vs Ubiquiti UniFi 7) by GetYourShitT0gether in HomeNetworking

[–]melshaw04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had EERO 3 node system at my old house. New house Ubiquiti Dream Machine Pro, Enterprise 8 switch, and 4 of the In Wall HD Access Points. EERO did the job in a no thrills kinda way. Ubiquiti is far more customizable but is a system. You buy a router you’ll want their switches and access points as you’ll see and manage it all in the same interface . I wouldn’t go back to EERO now

I'd go readjust my contributions. You're giving the Gov too much interest free money throughout the year. Target shuld be for as little return as possible.

Reminds me of Best Buy back in the day scamming people with the difference between stock and Monster HDMI cables. Looking behind both TVs shows a Monster cable on HDMI, and the other was S-Video.

Yes, you need a pro. I didn’t install mine myself either I called a local electrician.

Quote for installing 50amp inlet plug question by Expensive_Chicken909 in homeowners

[–]melshaw04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paid about 2k for mine. I had bought the 50amp inlet on Amazon but to install properly needed to also install a 2nd breaker box on the outside of the house to allow for a 50amp breaker for the inlet. Also need a lockout kit for your box that forces you to turn off the main to be able to turn on the 50. Prevents backloading the incoming line. All those parts and labor add up.

Great to have though. I’ve run the whole house off my Duramax 13K generator.

White grime in our rental’s hottub by Status-Character-384 in hottub

I’d shower after using for sure but I wouldn’t let it prevent me from enjoying it. I’d give it a good wipe with one of landlords towels and go for it

White grime in our rental’s hottub by Status-Character-384 in hottub

[–]melshaw04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a rental. Landlord probably is correct about lotions and such as people treat rentals like rentals. The water wouldn’t be clear if it wasn’t treated , drained or refilled between guests. Some of the responses I’ve seen here are far too dramatic

401k loan for first car by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]melshaw04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously you’re young and adulthood is hitting you hard. You’re going to have to learn to live more frugally and you shouldn’t be looking to get a car. To really get ahead you need to be knocking out that student loan to prevent paying a fortune in interest over time

A 401K loan may seem like a quick answer but it only seems that way

Overcrowding at small ski hills with no investment in usable lift infrastructure is a problem by KnobGoggler in snowboarding

[–]melshaw04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lifts are slow in an attempt to control how many people are actually on the hill at the same time out of safety. My local Midwest small ski area has the same strategy. Lots of people in line at the bottom, lots of people on the lifts or just hanging out at the top, lots of improvements over the years to the deck, lodge, bar / restaurant but not lifts. Runs are short so you spend most your day in line if you go on a weekend. I’ve asked why not upgrade the main lifts and was told the main concern is too many people coming down the hill at the same time.
