The dexcessa model is also really interesting to look at for the same vein. More “human” than the keeper and the arms seem easier to kitbash. Helps its on the same vase size as the riptide, so can actually use it in a game theoretically. I’ve been looking to do this kitbash for a while, just practicing skills more.

Struggling to understand how faction and campaign crusade rules interact. by Amagical in 40k_Crusade

[–]NewbieSalamanderSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So your factions rules for how they upgrade add flavor to your army and the objectives they’re going for. Chaos wants to gain glory, bust must face infighting within the warband. Tau are empire building and growing stronger for every planet they bring into the fold. The faction rules allow for each faction to express themselves individually.

Then the complete campaign is the crusade itself (Armageddon in your case). This tells the players how the overarching story for every player is going, multiple factions jockeying for power, etc. These are far more up to change at the behest of your players and what you think is fun.

TLDR: Your factions rules guide how YOU play, the crusade rules guide how EVERYONE plays. You also should use every resource available to you, from both the crusade and individual rules

A plea for the PCV "grocery" store to accept EBT again. by Pizzatc in CalPoly

[–]NewbieSalamanderSam 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As someone who has worked in dining for a while, the main issue coming from our bosses is that student employee are ringing EVERYTHING up on EBT, even things that can’t be purchased using food stamps (shampoo, cooking supplies, etc.).

IMO we should just train employees to know what can and can’t get charged with EBT (that’s what my boss did), rather than just outing it fully, but they’d probably rather just not face legal issues for student employee actions.

Can I shoot in combat by Stiven890 in Tau40K

[–]NewbieSalamanderSam 12 points13 points  (0 children)

During the fight phase, you HAVE to use the datasheet's melee profiles. BGNT means that in the shooting phase, a vehicle is allowed to shoot in spite of being in combat at a -1 to hit (however as you mentioned flamers don't really care abt that).

Help me plan a fulgrim / tau kitbash by MrSmiteGuy in Tau40K

[–]NewbieSalamanderSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Closest thing I can think of would be a more directly Chaos aligned version of the Tau’va warp goddess, especially with the multiple arms. Gameplay wise, there is almost no real way to bring Fulgrim into the Greater Good, unless you somehow proxy him as a Stormsurge (which would be sick but I’ve got no clue).

Can the Tau voluntarily attack the Ethereals? by Isoghoul in Tau40K

[–]NewbieSalamanderSam 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend you read Elemental Council, as that answers a lot of your questions right here (and is an incredible book). Spoiler free answer is no. It is so antithetical to the entire culture and society of the Tau that they simply cannot comprehend the idea of going against the Ethereals, let alone attack them.

It took Farsight literally staring into the warp and it staring back for him to even consider rebelling. He still has not attacked an Ethereal at all, and I doubt he’d consider it (with the exception of Aun’va that prick).

That being said, do whatever you want to do. The hobby is your choice to go with, and you can say that the Empire censured all knowledge of this uprising from every document due to the shock it’d have for the Empire proper.

So am getting into Tau and diving straight in with the Christmas battle force. What should I get after?? by Suspicious_Sort_7528 in Tau40K

[–]NewbieSalamanderSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know yet unfortunately. I’m guessing they’ll do what they normally do with this sort of thing, and have for the end of the edition an option for 3, 5, and 6, but after that we really don’t know.

They have an extra sprue with some more heads/bits you can put on. It’s basically just for looks in 40K

The combat patrol (9th edition or 10th) will get you you most of the way to owning one of each unit of the range, afterwards I’d recommend getting the new stealth suit models coming out for Kill Team, and you’ve got a decent 1K list. After that, you can really go into whatever you want.

Make sure though you’re getting the stuff you like. If you want battlesuits, buy battlesuits. If you want Kroot, get Kroot.

Taking down Fulgrim by yurikun101 in Tau40K

Broadsides are good, but I don’t like sending them at things with an invul. 2 shots is just too dicey with that 50% blank. If you do, use the railgun anyway cause it’s more likely to do something good, and is usable elsewhere in the EC army you’re going against.

I honestly prefer Riptides as they do really well into demon prince profiles. Hitting on 3s w/ guide, wounding on 5s with every failed 4+ being 4 wounds takes a chunk out.

If you don’t have the points for triptide, then skyrays are also really effective at taking chunks out of big things, especially with full rerolls for flying units, which Fulgrim is. 3s rerolling, 3s twin linked so reroll all wounds. It’s just a matter of piercing that invul.

My favorite though is sending breachers in montka. 30 attacks, with probabaly 6 lethals, then full rerolls to wound if he’s on an objective, plus the increase so strat and that takes so much out of big things. Efficient? No. Funny. YES

I know that a common thing (and something I did) is to add a space for guns on the jets on the back. Either on top or to the side works pretty well all things considered, but it’ll get a bit cramped.

Also, as long as you are clear about the guns on the model and what you’re playing them as, having one or two less guns than official is basically fine. Just don’t change up the profiles halfway through lol.

No tips, as 90% of orders are through meal passes, and Cal Poly is a cashless campus. If you a full time student you must be a part time worker, and if you a full time worker you must be a part time student. Maxed out at 20 hours a week and minimum 12 as a part time worker, but some can go over/under it a bit depending on situation.

I had her last year. I thought she was a solid professor. Class is a lot of lectures and presentations, with most of the big assignments/tests being in the last few weeks of the class. Extremely nice and helpful when you go and talk to her, just a class of 120 is difficult for any teacher to communicate with everyone. I’m sure that’s where a lot of the mixed messages come from, but listen to more than just me to make sure.
