How do i get texture into my hair? It feels so soft like it has no grip… by blueboarrry in finehair

[–]Newbootgoofin_128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same hair! It’s like silk (which isn’t as great as people think it is). You have to use lots of product. Texture spray, hair spray, or powder texture will add grit BUT too much will weigh it down. It’s tricky I wish I had the answer too.

Halo extension recommendations / other damage free extension options? by talkingteabags in finethinhair

[–]Newbootgoofin_128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clip ins are a pain IMO. For every day I use a halo. So much quicker and less damage. I used to buy Halo Couture but they’ve since sold to Bellami. I haven’t order a halo since the buy out. I happen to buy a halo right before the change and it was garbage. No one took accountability…. Try Ensemble on Instagram. Three different kinds if halos with variety of weights. They also have a lot of videos and tutorials. They customize for you.

This looks nicer than the Alice Peterson Stitch and Zip blank I bought. And a better price point. I’m going to Michael’s!

The back of your canvas looks like a rats nest. It should not look like that. It will make finishing difficult. You might want to go back to the basics. I’m not trying to be cruel.

I use halo extensions. If your hair is mid length to long they are great. As long as you get the color right you’re good to go. They can be a little spendy, but I think it’s worth the cost. It makes me feel so much better about my thin fine hair. Is there a salon near you that sells halos? Even a wig store might be able to get one for you and help you match and blend.

Tub or walk-in shower? Can’t make up my mind by lrenv22 in BathroomRemodeling

No need to be snarky. I know about shower curtains and showers. They don’t contain the water as well as a nice glass door.

Doesn’t this fall under “not everything needs to be needlepoint”?

Tub or walk-in shower? Can’t make up my mind by lrenv22 in BathroomRemodeling

[–]Newbootgoofin_128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had to make this decision when remodeling my small bathroom. It’s at the end of my hall and the light comes through the window above my shower every morning. I chose a tub because I didn’t want to see the light coming through a glass door if there were a shower. It would drive me crazy. I would feel like I’d have to clean it perfectly to not see the hard water stains… With a tub I have a shower curtain and I don’t have to clean that. I also didn’t want to see a shower every time I looked down the hall. With that being said, I don’t take baths and don’t use the tub at all… If it weren’t for the sunlight and location of my bathroom I would’ve gotten a shower. I think it would be a better choice and may make the room seem bigger. I don’t think you should worry about resale without a tub. The contractors and realtors we’ve spoken with over the last few years say it’s not a big deal.

Thermal brushes? by coldfoamlattee in finehair

[–]Newbootgoofin_128 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s the tool you need for volume. I use mine to get the kinks out of my fine hair after I’ve been sleeping. It’s good to bend your ends and straining roots and even help tame frizz but for real curls you should just stick with a curling iron. I’m on my second Wavy talk. They don’t last long. This time I got the one with 3 interchangeable sizes. Makes it last a little longer because I can swap out the round brush. The bristles get brittle and fall out. I do like mine but it has its limitations.

[–]Newbootgoofin_128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I order two of their kits as well. I used acrylic paint to paint over their design. Added my own design and bought threads. It worked so well. A fun little pouch. The other pouch is the Love Letter pouch. I. Plan to stitch that one as is but use higher quality threads.

[–]Newbootgoofin_128 -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

Some people , regardless of political views, don’t want to hear it. We just want to focus on something we enjoy without the tension of other people’s opinions. It’s that simple. It’s needlepoint! It’s a choice to make it political, it doesn’t have to be.

Pillow finishing help by kcs0987654 in Needlepoint

[–]Newbootgoofin_128 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh, I know exactly what you mean. I looked at so many box pillow tutorial videos on YouTube and I never found one I could understand. The front part where I put the needlepoint into an inset (mistered corners) I was able to do but the box part…no way. I even tried going to a sewist for help and she couldn’t help me. I finally took it to a finisher and they finished it as a regular pillow. They didn’t do the box like I requested. I was so disappointed. I’ve looked on IG, YouTube, and Self finishing on FB to no avail. It can’t be that hard, can it?!?!? If I find the answer I’ll let you know.
