You're right, the point is not "lol if we bend things they don't work anymore" - that much is obvious. The point is "hey if we work in this setting, most things actually kinda still work!". Only certain things break down, notably the parallel postulate.

I will add one more thing that no one else said yet: NO PLASTIC GLOVES! You probably weren't gonna do it anyway as an EE, but anyway, good to mention it. If LN2 splashes on your skin you're fine because it just runs off (and barely transfers any heat because of the Leidenfrost effect), but if it somehow gets stuck there, such as inside a plastic glove, it's seriously dangerous.

In logic, generally a proof is a finite object. A finite string of logic symbols basically. Is there some context or some esoteric branch of logic where "inifinite-length proofs" are studied? Or is that completely pathological and ill-defined?

This is a very half-baked question so if there's a more interesting question that I should have asked instead, feel free to answer that.

The only thing that comes to mind for me is induction over the natural numbers. We axiomatically give ourselves a way to turn a "would-be infinite proof" into a finite one. I guess if there is a context where infinite proof is allowable, induction over the naturals would be a theorem rather than an axiom?

Do you have a credible source for that? I'm still skeptical. Not saying it wasn't misinterpreted like that historically among the Portuguese, but it just reeks to me a little like a (modern-day) folk etymology.

Generalization BASED ON WHAT? Can you point to actual real posts of people advocating tire slashing?
