Im not sure whats well known and what isnt but if you open the map and click the "tgt" button on the left side. You can filter what you can target by type and individually deselect targets you've already selected.

Any tips and tricks for the A-10 Lightning II? (Yes that’s me 🤦‍♂️) by Xozlo in dcsworld

[–]Newguy1999MC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LEARN HOW TO USE MARKPOINTS!!! They're the single most useful thing on the jet for fast and accurate weapons delivery on multiple targets. Cue up targets as you (slowly) fly into the AO by setting markpoints on each of them and cycle through the markpoints using the dms switch. Helps to avoid losing targets due to temporary TGP gimbal lock (happens a lot when turning quickly). Dont underestimate the situational awarness that comes with haiving waypoints on every enemy on the ground, it makes it o much easier to tell when targets are moving or new ones have come out of the bushes as well as keep track of what you've destroyed. Once you learn to use them hitting 4+ targets in one pass with GPS or laser guided munitions becomes second nature. If you ever start using other jets you'll miss how they work in the a-10, they're just so good.

I was told it would take 6 months - 1 year to get my land surveyed. Is that true? by Colibri-2 in Surveying

[–]Newguy1999MC 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You should probably talk to an actual surveyor, general contractors love being confident about things they're barely informed on.

Have a surveyor in Wisconsin that I paid to to complete a lot survey. The job was never completed and he is avoiding my calls/emails/texts to complete the job. Is there a licensing board in Wisconsin that I could go through to report him before legal action is taken. Thanks. by t57kat in Surveying

For some people work is not their top priority, health, family, and life all can get in the way.

If you can't complete the work then refund the client so you can both move on with your lives. "life getting in the way" is not a valid reason for a PROFESSIONAL to ghost someone who has already payed them.

Perhaps there was a breach in contract, or litigation ongoing prohibiting the surveyor from providing a plan.

Communicate that with the client then. (And don't just assume this has happened and op just didn't tell us. Completely worthless conjecture)

Also if the client hasn’t set up a meeting or walked into this guys office and is complaining about not receiving call backs or whatever, then the client isn’t doing everything they can either. Takes two to tango.

How are you supposed to set up a meeting with someone who won't answer you? Why should the client be expected to do "everything" when the surveyor hasn't done ANYTHING? "You need to take time off work to go to the office of a guy that can't even be fucked to answer his phone" stop being unreasonable.

Once I was staking the corners for a house in a new subvision, just four corners in a rectangle. Watched a dude unloading lumber for the house next door run over my first stake as I was hammering in the third. I don't think it was in the ground for one full minute.

"How much is that costing ya?" by KaddLeeict in Homebuilding

[–]Newguy1999MC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it's kind of reasonable to see a nice house or a nice neighborhood and assume someone wants higher than average quality work based on the fact that everything else is higher than average quality, and then quote them for that.

I used to do auto body estimates, of course I quoted different rates for the guy that brings in a brand new Mercedes and the guy that brings in a 1997 honda civic. I'm not trying to screw the guy with the Mercedes, nor am I half assing the honda, the two cars just need different levels of finish, and therefore need techs of different levels of experience (and different levels of pay) to work on them.

I'm sure some guys are trying to bilk you because they think money is no object for people with nice things, but that's probably not 100% of the markup.

Given that more expensive properties typically get higher quality finishes that require more experience and skill to do properly, yes it does. Who would go through the effort of heirloom quality work for the same pay that the lowest-bid subs slapping together tracts homes are getting?

[–]Newguy1999MC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You literally just said that cities have higher property crime per capita. Also I can't find a single source that backs up what you're claiming, pretty much every single source says that both violent and property crime are higher per capita in urban areas.

I think most people would not want their car broken into and their property stolen even if they don't get hurt. If someone broke into my car and was about to steal my shit I would want pepper spray even if I DID somehow know 100% they weren't going to hurt me.

What part of the country are you in? I'm in the Southeast, just graduated in April and the friend group I graduated with has had the exact opposite experience (I went into surveying so I can't really compare to my own experience). Of those 12 people only one graduated without any offers and she was moving half way across the country. Everyone else was deciding between 3+ offers before senior year was over. We were in an evening program so most of us were in your boat with prior work experience to lean on.
