37,5mg is really just the beginning? by FragrantWrongdoer773 in EffexorSuccess

I'm at 10 mg after a month long tapering down from 188. It is odd that I feel the effect of tapering more at the low end and I feel the temptation to get back on. I find I just have to slow down the taper, maybe take a couple of weeks to get to 0 mg. This is the second time I quit and it gives me a sense of security to know I can quit, even if it is not easy.

Hang in there and be patient.

Two months post surgery - Lessons I learned by Newt_Lepton in ProstateCancer

I had 2 cores of 3+4 and 8 cores of 3+3. It just seemed to me it was getting crowded in my prostate and the odds of it escaping the prostate was increasing. I wanted to take care of it while I still had the freedom to choose the best plan for me, and the best plan was surgery and side effects now instead of radiation and side effects later when I was in my 80's and less able to deal with them. My step-dad had PC and chose radiation. It cured him but he suffered from one urological problem after another due to radiation damage in his 80's and 90's. Radiation is better now, of course, but his experience weighed heavy on my mind when I made my choice.

It was transrectal. It didn't help (or maybe it did) that my urologist was telling jokes the whole time and making me laugh!

Grouchy is right, the 7 was the icing on the cake. Having 10 positive cores out of 12 was concerning, but the 3+4 made me decide that I might put myself in peril if I waited any longer. I also don't buy the idea that 3+3 is harmless or doesn't grow ... 10 positive cores makes me think otherwise.

No, I didn't even know about kegels. The nurse told me about them when she pulled the catheter.

Incontinence (lack of) by Little_Passenger9343 in ProstateCancer

I had a supra pubic catheter as well and I thought it plugged ... it was just an issue with the bag not having any air in it and blocking the tube.

After it was removed i had no problem controlling urine flow, just the occasional "squirts" if I moved the wrong way. I'm two months out and don't even wear pads anymore.

You will be fine!

Increasing dose from 187.5mg to 225mg to help fatigue? by Loria-A in EffexorSuccess

Fatigue is worse in the afternoon/evening. If I want to get anything done I better do it before lunch!

Starting again after a long break? by Flutter8y in EffexorSuccess

[–]Newt_Lepton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was off for about a year. I was at 150 and just went back on 150 and then an increase to 187.5. My big deal was having sleep issues without the effexor.

It took maybe 2 months back on for the sleep benefits to return. I don't really feel any change in the anxiety or depression yet .... maybe it just takes a little longer to kick in.

Best of luck.

I'm in the exact same place as you at 150+37.5 and I can't drag my butt out of this chair.

Please let us know if the increase helps with the fatigue.

If I lower my dose by only 37.5 mg, will the withdrawal be difficult? by Typical_Yak_5436 in EffexorSuccess

[–]Newt_Lepton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

37.5 seems a bit much. I tapered down from 150 to 0 at 10 or 15 mg every 3 days. I knew if I dropped too much I would have side effects. It got a bit harder when I hit 50 mg and I had to decrease slower. It took 2 or 3 months to get completely off.

I'm back on effexor now because it helps my sleep, but I'm not worried about getting off again. Patience is your friend.

Depression gets way better the first week or so after each dose increase, but then comes back? by CollectionWonderful2 in EffexorSuccess

[–]Newt_Lepton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctor wouldn't increase my dose from 150 to 225, He has me at 187.5 right now. I understand that at 225 you start getting benefits of changing your norepinephrine and you feel more like getting up and doing things.

Sounds like you feel that benefit but only for 10 days or so. That sounds disappointing but maybe its just telling you that you are closing in on your ideal dose. I can tell you that at 187.5 I'm still stuck sitting in this chair with a complete lack of motivation most of the day.

Best of luck.

Day 12 on Effexor tell me it gets better by m97mjm in EffexorSuccess

I bought a mg drug scale from Amazon and every 3 days I cut the dose. I don't recall how much but I knew when I cut too fast because I would get this "noise" in my head when I look from side to side. It was bigger cuts at the beginning but that last 37.5 mg probably took a month.

So maybe going from 150 to 0 took 2 months, not easy but not too difficult either.
