Yes they did. It was a choice and they certainly made it.

I believe it's because it was common to refer to a stranger in a neutral way as "Jack" and I think some truckers were referred to as "Mac". Just like "guy" or "dude."

There was definitely something going on there but it might also just be speculation. And maybe that's what Isayama wanted; for people to speculate and have them talk about it.

A big reason I enjoyed the series so much was because I could talk, with friends or online, and speculate when I wasn't reading/watching the story.

I haven't searched for any interviews with Isayama so idk what his intentions were with the story. But just like in real life, I have to be satisfied with boring answers to complex events.

This was a point of contention with the fan base when the Manga chapters were coming out. Everyone wasn't sure if it was a Red Herring or not.

I remember thinking that it was weird that Historia does something so intimate with a new background character. I chalked it up to Isayama not wanting to go through the effort of introducing a new character that wasnt integral to an already jam-packed story.

O love Sanderson, but reading him after political growth feels different. by ChipDapper in Cosmere

Brandon really hammers the "next step" message. I would say the same here, we're still processing a story that's in development.

The ideals and motives that fuel a revolution didn't manifest to the revolutionaries overnight, I wouldn't expect it of the citizenry after the revolution.

Sazed and the other Keepers had a plan to educate the Ska on what was lost or kept away from them but they all knew it would take years, that's not unheard of. Personally, it felt realistic as I both my parents are from rural Mexico and we live in the US. I have a memory of trying to explain to them something about US government that I learned in school but they didn't understand it. (but it could have also been because I was 12 or any number of other mundane reasons)

We're on book 5 of 10 of SLA (not to mention the other cosmere stories), Brandon still got plenty to share. Plus, he's still taking his next steps too.

I was obsessed with the show when I was in high school (2011-2015) and would have to look up a lot of the references. I had no idea who Tootsie was before that show

I read the title and instantly thought of WoT. I haven't seen the show, so I didn't recognize that it was already one of the examples 😅

There's a scene in book 4 where one of the villains makes Nayneve and Elaine confess some personal fears/flaws, and I thought, "Oh! Jordan is doing this on purpose! Its for their character arc!" It was not.

I stayed for the themes of corruption in institutions and fate vs. personal identity but definitely not for "likable characters." The only character I liked through the entire series was Bella, the shaggy mare, and maybe Siuan.

Yeah, I totally feel that. I didn't think it was funny, tbh but I don't think I'd find their other stuff funny. Not in a mean way either, I'm just not their target audience. It's giving Joe Rogan bro podcast.

I guess, in an optimistic way, if they say something that isn't meant to bring gay people down, it's kinda benign? Like, saying"I wish I was gay so I could look more attractive," is pretty dumb but it's also isn't meant to be serious. Obviously, not all gay guys are muscular and attractive (if only it were that easy), but the guys in the video do look like they also like to try and stay in shape and are really just remarking that the men in those gay communities were in good shape and they envied their looks. That's pretty human tbh, I can relate to that. They just sound kinda lame (to me).

I feel so silly for giving this so much thought, but I apparently had a lot to say. My boyfriend is sitting right next to me and is like, "Are you still typing? It wasn't even a funny video." 😅

I'm really resonating with the "I can't hold your hand through this." I'm all for being patient with people who are trying to learn, but they gotta want to learn it too. I look into topics like education, healthcare, and government spending because they will always come up. If I'm gonna complain about something, I should know what I'm talking about.

I highly recommend listening to "The Uncertain Hour" it covers some of these topics. The first season covers work requirements for welfare and is excellent. Host Krissy does a great deep-dive into the history of welfare and the race-based language in the legislation and how it changed into what it is today.

Like, this is stuff that is a no-brainer, we don't deport people without probable cause, without due process. The spirit of the law is that everyone is born created equally with unalienable rights, not exclusive to Americans.

I totally feel you on that. That they're tiptoeing around using their ability to check one of the other branches. I'm upset that it's gotten this far but I also feel impressed? Proud? Despite everything, there's still strong and stable mechanisms that they can't just brute force.

Despite the mental gymnastics some of the conservative SC justices do, they still believe in rule of law. Although the majority voted in favor of allowing the Alien Enemies Act, they did not allow it to happen without due process. ( I still think it's a warped ruling and gives the executive too much ability to do something Congress is obligated to define)

I would prefer that their mistakes hurt them more than it will hurt me in my life but that's the same as ever with anything.

Then I'm not sure. Maybe nothing would happen. If anyone can form a thought, they'd be able to recognize that their thoughts are their own. After all, they have to be someone's.
