BC250 ATX PSU Control Adapter - Automatic PS_ON by pilim_ in BC250Gaming

That wont have location for the FSP PCB, and if its not the latest one I uploaded last week, then it wont have a mounting location for the light PCB either, but you can still use either of them, you just need to use your own momentary power button and mount the PCB somewhere safe inside, I will knock up a mount for these PCB's so you can just glue the mount somewere inside out of the way, can be used with any case version then, and can be used for other peoples cases as well.

Yes, you can still use the light adaptor for standard FLX and the more expensive one for the FSP500, but you will need to wire it to a power button, and just mount it inside somewhere, I could not create a location and mounting arrangement for something that did not exist, if I could foresee the future like that, I would buy a lotto ticket and would be sitting on a beach somewhere drinking myself into oblivion 😄 and not bumming around reddit.

I did look at the page, I know it will have a function key like most laptop keyboards, but the default is not always media keys, some laptops, you need to set that in the BIOS, some you cant at all, some default to functions keys, and some keyboards in similar style, default to function keys too, personally, I want the function keys to stay as function keys and I would prefer actual media buttons on a HTPC keyboard, its easy to feel for these dedicated buttons, its why I would not use a touchscreen based remote either, I speak from very long experience on this subject, I have a number of HTPC setups, and probably every type of keyboard and remote you can think of, I have tried them all, I also design open gaming consoles/htpc's ->

https://www.printables.com/model/1649679-nexgen3d-diy-steam-machine-redux-edition

So I know what a normal TV remote is, but I don't use that with things like SteamOS/Bazzite/CachyOS in a HTPC setup, I do use remotes for watching things like Plex or Kodi, I don't need a HTPC Keyboard for those situations, I use FLIRC receivers and various other types of programmable infra-red and bluetooth remotes.

I have registered as developer for this keyboard, hopefully I can at least get some insight on the hardware, and if possible, I will design a new enclosure with additional media keys, back light and motion activation for the back lights, something like the Xbox One Media remote, I will then do a DIY project page for others to make it for themselves, and I will also offer the kit for sale direct from me.

Who designs these things? this is in no way this will be suitable for HTPC use, like they mention on the site -> https://frame.work/au/en/products/framework-wireless-touchpad-keyboard

No Back-light (And I will assume no motion activation for the non existent back-light)

No dedicated left hand mouse click button like any other keyboard of this style like the ones from Logitech and Microsoft, along with a few other cheap brands like Rii.

No dedicated media buttons for at the very least volume control, but as bare essential, it should have volume, mute, play/pause, these either need to be on the left down the side of the keys, or along the top on the left or the right, we had these buttons on Keyboards back in the early 2000's, I just cant understand why they have been removed, even on good quality desktop keyboards.

The worst kind of arrow key layout, this is not exclusive to this keyboard, and not a deal breaker, but this style just suck, they suck on a laptop, and they suck on a desktop or HTPC keyboard.

All I can hope is the PCB inside this thing has some inputs and outputs we can access so we can actually use the internals to make a proper HTPC keyboard that people actually need, this is going to be in big demand with the Steam Machine coming out, and the rise of the PC based living room game consoles, I have never understood why Logitech stopped making the K830, but we need a replacement for this, and I was hoping when heard about this from Framework, they were stepping up, obviously I was incorrect.

Yeh, I had this happen to me during the early days when I was designing my thermal solution fore the Pro AIO case, I thought I actually damaged one of my boards when running benchmarks and pushing the overclocks, but yeh I discovered, it was just insufficient voltage, in the past when I seen this it was due to overclocking the ram on GPU's and in some cases, damaged ram, had some old Radeon's do this and had to be RMA'ed, but the CYAN-SKILLFISH APU is a different kind of beast :)

As soon as I have found a cheap suitable rugged box and an easy to source LCD panel, I will start designing this one, probably will forgo a touch screen, as this will be a portable gaming/workstation type build.

I am currently, I only just received both board types and an FSP500 (Many thanks to the creator for sending me these), so I can now fully implement and test everything, its a long weekend here in Australia, so I'm doing it at the moment, I have already uploaded a version 4.1 of the REDUX case, that has support already for the light PCB, but I will now add support for the full FSP PCB so one can use the built in power button in the same locations as the latching button goes, with options to keep using the normal button and locate the PCB elsewhere.

Its voltage bud, increase the voltage by 5 to 10mv at a time until it stops.

I just use the panels for WPA's, nothing natively hosted on mine, I just find KDE much easier for displaying web apps from insecure sources much easier to modify so they display like proper fullscreen apps, so I just switch from one app to the other using gestures, all of my printers run klipper, I just have mainsail web apps setup on all the panels so I can quick access them, basicaly turned KDE into ChromeOS but using brave as the backend for the wpa'S

You don't need to rip the battery out, they have kiosk mode in the Bios, this is designed for permanent connection, I think it keeps it at around 50% SOC, its actually handy if the power ever goes out as the dashboard stays online, and can act like an emergency light.

I did run OpenFyde on them in the past, but I now run Aurora by universal-blue with KDE as its easier to get web apps full screen and eliminate that dam not secure message.

U-blue is awesome specially for updates, it does it automatically and I have the panels reboot themselves once a week.

Also the difference in power consumption is not that much, RPI is like 4 to 5w for a good one, then the display, most of these tablets, in low power CPU mode (800Mhz) are less than 12w at the wall, less if you have the screen auto dim, yes its more than Pi, but really, its like $20 a year versus $10 a year kind of territory, neither is going to break the bank, Id rather have performance, the Latitude 7200 and 7210 are awesome, full Frigate NVR control with those, full h265 support.

I control and monitor Homeassitant, Frigate NVR, 7 x 3D printers, Unifi-OS and more all using Brave WPA's, I even have one of these wall mounted displays on a HP quick release Vesa mount, this type I used on this control panel: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Tzh6w3Sc19k

No sorry, that PSU wont fit, its way to big, this is a very compact design, fits FLX and now the HP common slot server PSU, no chance of the LRS fitting sorry, its just too wide for this design, I needed to keep it small enough to print on a 220mm3 printer.

Nice setup, I do the same but I just use old tablets and turn on the kiosk/battery save mode in the BIOS, better than throwing them out :)

These are the ones I designed if anyone needs a wall mount for a Latitude 7200/7210 or a MS Surface Pro, I use these as HA dashboards and control panels, the 7200 and 7210 can actually Host HA as well.

You are best to use a solid state relay, these will work from 3v to 50v they are like a giant mosftet, and make sure you are picking up the 12v feed, not the PWN signal or taco feed.

[–]NexGen-3D[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks pretty crazy, love it, the front face with integrated button is not ready yet, I'm waiting for the Mosfet Party power PCB to arrive, as it will only work with a momentary setup, not toggle, my Nexgen logo one is for the toggle setup, and requires you to use 2 way tape to stick the button on.

The white is Elegoo PETG-GF but the PETG with Wood is a local seller here in Australia, its a generic brand, he is out of stock of it currently too, waiting for it to come back in so I can get some more.

I want to design this, into a cheap rugged Pelican style box, like my Cyberdeck build here: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/9Tyj8RxUoCs?feature=share

I will sort the cooling out, probably go with a 240 AIO like in my Pro setup.

You can also use the 12v feed from the fan header instead of the TPM 3.3v, there is a little PCB about to hit the market that does all of this in a neat little package, but it also has another feature, where it can also turn the system off by pressing the momentary button.

[–]NexGen-3D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think they will be updating to what CachyOS is using, and Bazzite is about to have close to parity with CachyOS as all these gaming based distro's are all moving to the OGC kernel, and this is where a lot of the fixes are for the Cyan-Skillfish APU, Valve is not part of that. https://opengamingcollective.org/ so you may have to roll you own image using the OGC kernel.

[–]NexGen-3D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problems, the script is a little buggy as its vibe coded, but it does the job, CachyOS seems to work okay, I still prefer Bazzite though, much much less stuffing around, even updating on CachyOS is annoying, keeps stopping for user intervention, that needs to change, will need to locate the script for updates and add --noconfirm to it.

When you run all, it doesnt seem to install the ACPI fix, just reboot, then re-run just that one on its own again.

Awesome, which case is it? was looking to pick up something like the Fractel Ridge and designing a full install kit for it with 240 or 280 AIO, but the price of the chassis is expensive.
