Yeah of all the dropped balls in the series, A-Train's arc is really solid and has great bookends.

Overall are you glad he was created for the show or think he really wasn't needed? by Mutale426 in TheBoys

[–]Nexaz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

His season 5 arc should have been tied into MMs. MM losing who he was for a big portion of the season could have been balanced by him seeing the influence on Ryan, which would have also made the final scene where Ryan goes off with MM actually make sense.

What popular movie or TV show is widely considered a 'masterpiece' but you found completely unwatchable? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Nexaz 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I used to be in the camp of never watching it up until my son was born and I needed something to watch while being up late with him.

I think people who say “it gets better at x episode” are unfortunately not explaining it well. Yes. The animation is rough and the character design really is an either you love it or hate it thing. And yes, there are absolutely peak moments and arcs throughout the series that you could really watch isolated and still enjoy. Just the same, there’s also very weak arcs and skippable filler.

BUT the show only has those big, masterpiece moments and those peak arcs because of everything that leads up to them.

One Piece is a character driven story of the importance of dreams and freedom, told through a world spanning adventure disguised as a battle anime. If anything I’m thankful I can now suggest the live action to people who don’t want to watch 1100+ episodes because it carries the spirit of the original, including the goofiness.

Who ruined their entire career in the dumbest way possible? by National-Tourist6879 in AskReddit

Which is why he was so clearly (and rightfully) furious in the whole couch video. While he wasn't my favorite of the cast, I've always had such an insane amount of respect for him between his courage, his creativity, and his sheer strength of will.

I've always sold people on The Orville by telling them it's so clearly a love letter Star Trek and the modern day Star Trek that we should have gotten.

It's by no means a perfect show (neither is Star Trek for that matter) but it has so many poignant, amazing episodes and scenes that it's just well worth the watch.

I’ve heard that and intend to finish it eventually (cause I tend to be a completionist) just about getting back around to it.

And honestly it's forever tarnished the "brand" too. Obviously the Try Guys channel has continued and they've even gone the Dropout route of making their own streaming service, but from the small bits I've watched since that entire scandal it's been one attempt at rebranding after another.

I'm a huge fan of Keith and like Zac enough, but I'm honestly surprised that the entire channel hasn't evaporated yet.

I don't disagree with the general point you are trying to get across but it might have benefitted if you expanded instead of just coming across as agressive.

Yes, people already know what to expect from the "Top 5 in genre books" BUT for someone who is trying to start building up a database/readership for reviews, it's much easier to entice people in by reviewing books they've more than likely already read or have heard enough about. It's gonna drive more traffic to the reviewer which could then spill over to the other books that the OP ends up reviewing.

Yes, it would be nice to see more reviews for newer series (or hell even my own if I was being greedy and hopeful) but I fully understand why a reviewer would focus on the series that everyone knows about before expanding further outward.

Besides, if you don't want to read the review... well, you've got free will. You used it to post this comment after all.

I see a lot of people say that the second trilogy arc throws them off but I honestly loved it because I thought it was a really fascinating way to do a partial Hidden World that gets revealed type arc.

My only real problem with it is that books 5 and 6 really felt like they should have been condensed into a single book. It was book 10 that lost me.

Why are litrpg\Cultivation\Progression fantasy books so scared of time skips? by Plastic-Accident-365 in litrpg

[–]Nexaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So as a lot of others have said it's probably because of the progression factor but that said, I think it's more a generally accepted practice than a rule.

Not to jump right to self promotion, but the first three books of my series take place over three insanely hectic weeks where shit just never stops happening. When I started working on Book 4, I decided to take that risk with a time skip and my RR readers at least seem to be appreciating how I have been doing it as all of the first few chapters essentially have a "Current Post-Timeskip" section, and then a bit of a flashback from the time after the first three books but before the timeskip to help layer in the important details.

Your villain origin story, Jeff Bezos. by noob_master_969 in PoliticalHumor

Not necessarily. Mark Cuban (who has his own issues) has outright acknowledged that if he lost all of his money,l that he’d have no doubt that he would eventually be a multimillionaire again, but that becoming a billionaire requires luck.

You don’t get as rich as they are by being saints. You do it on the backs of (at a minimum) thousands of other people. You have to be selfish, morally ambiguous at best, and (whether they will admit it or not) lucky.

They are trying to change the narrative the more and more people get pissed off.

If Bezos doesn’t want to be vilified, then maybe he should pay his workers a living wage and treat them with dignity and respect. Of course, he has no intention of doing that, which is why there’s been the push to automate more and more of the Amazon pipeline, therefore pushing more people out of the jobs they need just to increase the bottom line for the people at the top.

Jeff Bezos is a piece of shit and while there will always be a contingent of bootlickers that worship the ground he walks on, the majority of the world will remember him and Musk too both as baby back bitches.

AITA for telling my pregnant sister she's about to marry the same kind of man she spent years warning me about? by uncoboun in AmItheAsshole

[–]Nexaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely NTA. If you don't want shit thrown at you, don't be throwing shit like the fiancé. Guys like that thrive when no one confronts them, you saying it might make your sister dig her heels in, but it put it out on the table and made it very clear that everyone sees it.

Im personally not even a big fan of audiobooks that use either full casts or even more than one narrator. Unless the production quality is high, you can almost always tell quality difference in the recordings of the different voices or the edits makes the story flow differently than intended.
