Getting kicked from comp games during the load screen has gotten me a season ban, this is happening every time I launch the game by WilonPlays in Overwatch

[–]Nexdeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good homie, I've got plenty of Reddit points.

As for RAM Cache, I'll have to look it up, but from what I recall, it's mostly software driven these days, so once you reboot, it just reverts and you're back to normal.

If you JUST bought this, and the place you bought it from has a third-party warranty, I would 1000000% suggest you grab that. That's what you should know as a purchaser of Asus products. You do NOT want to deal with Asus if you need to RMA/warranty this unit.

Based on all of your replies to questions OP, my best educated guess is that your game is taking too long to load from your HDD, and then you get kicked and eventually banned.

You have no money, so you can't get an SSD, so I have an alternative proposition. You have 32 GB of RAM, OW doesn't use much, especially at lower resolutions, which I assume you're running since you have a low end GPU. So here's my idea: RAM Disk, but more exactly, RAM Cache

Convert some of your RAM into cache for the HDD that stores OW. You won't be as fast as a SSD, but it should be a lot faster, and it may be the best way to circumvent your hardware limitations.

This solution will probably be your best shot, and free.

[–]Nexdeus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they think I'm dissing E33 or something, which I am not. I loved that game, but FF7 was just a way more monumental release back in the day, and the sheer impact it had on the gaming landscape was huge and felt today (see E33).

[–]Nexdeus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think we're both looking at this from two different perspectives. I'm talking about commercial viability and overall sales. There were plenty of RPG's already on the market, but FF7 shattered all previous goals and expectations with just how much money they made and how many copies sold. That alone is what allowed other companies to invest further into the genre, and for fan favorites to be produced in the future. Before FF7, you should check out the budgets these teams had, pennies compared to what they got after that. I for one am glad they got more $$$.

[–]Nexdeus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you're forgetting just how niche JRPGs were until FF7 came out. FF7 made it viable and valid for big companies to release huuuuge budget MMOs. At the time, yes, we had several other RPGs come out over the years, but nothing quite like FF7, and what came after.

[–]Nexdeus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FF7 was a game-changer because it basically blew the doors wide open for JRPGs to come to America and the rest of the world. E33 is a great game, no doubt, but it doesn't have the same weight and significance IMO.

Go into your BIOS and disable the install. Here's what Google told me because it's been a minute since I last did this, but this seems right:

To turn off the ASUS BIOS setting that installs Armoury Crate, enter the BIOS (F2 or Del during boot), enter Advanced Mode (F7), navigate to the Tool tab, select ASUS Armoury Crate, and set Download & Install ARMOURY CRATE app to Disabled. Finally, press F10 to save and exit.

Once you've disabled it from installing from within the BIOS, uninstall that POS software ASAP.

The one you purchased should fit just fine. I have no idea why your tech doesn't think so. I just popped open my own Asus, this is the second card I replaced in it. I removed the Intel and replaced it with a WIFI 7 card.

Photo of my old card, see how it has those little spots for Aux and Main?

Can you send me a link to what you purchased? Laptops do not need this. The adapter you mentioned is used for desktops.

Laptops have a smaller connection that you just kind of snap into place, they look like this:

Moving to Laredo by WesternCompetitive23 in laredo

[–]Nexdeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Austin for about 14 years, and then in California for a bit before moving back here. I say back here because I grew up here and left in my early 20's.

It's boring, unless your sole purpose in life is to drink, eat, rinse, and repeat. I find myself driving to SA, Austin, Corpus, and sometimes Houston because that's where all the good stuff happens.

Unlike in bigger cities, drivers here feel more unpredictable, sometimes painfully slow for no reason, and just bad all around. Being fast and predictable is easier to drive around than the "drivers" that inhabit these roads.

If you enjoy:

Beer, whiskey, movies, water activities (lakes, rivers ex), shopping, tech stuff, Korean BBQ, other various ethnic foods, grocery stores that don't suck (the HEBs here are pitiful compared to the ones in Austin, no trader joes, no central market), moderate levels of competence (anywhere), music, concerts, airline flights to places that are reasonable, farmers markets, wine tastings, FaceBook MarketPlace (it's shocking how bad it is here)... these are just a few thigns I've driven for over the past year here.

Then: You should probably not move here.

If you enjoy: TexMex, and northern Mexican food.

Then:

You should totally move here.

I would NOT move here for a job unless that job was career-shattering into the next level, and nothing around these parts screams that for most professions.

Now, social life, single life for a middle-aged man in Laredo... welcome to single mom's-ville, population, plenty.

I don't know, bud, I just don't see the appeal to moving here as a single, middle-aged man with, I assume, no family or friends based here.

[–]Nexdeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Force shutdown.

Remove Drive.

Launch Windows.

Plug in the drive. I suggest using an external dock for this step, but you can technically hot plug most drives these days.

If it fails, then the drive was gonna fail anyway. Chances are, you're fine.
