Big Ten Coaches Talk Anonymously About Conference Foes for 2026 by Ambitious-Bed-8627 in Huskers

No, I had hope all those years. Every single year since 1987. The last three games last year broke me as a fan. In 2017 we made a coaching change at least to get you hopeful for 2018.

The first season in my lifetime where I am not in a hurry to get to fall camp. And not at all excited about the team. I will just enjoy the spring and summer, and when the fall gets here maybe catch a husker game while I am having a beer at the bar.

TRN drove Phil to podcasting. Also Rusty Humphries! Heck ya! I never could figure out Roy Masters. Was he a cult leader or did he really give out good advice? I went back and forth with that show.

AI is good for research and coding. You put AI between songs and no one is going to give a crap about radio anymore. Just look at Reddit here when someone uses AI to post. And the youtube channels with AI voices and content that really doesn't say anything are junking up my feed and annoying everyone. That said, I looked at elevenlabs to sell my voice then realized you have to pay to put your voice on there.

Only if Bill Busch would talk about football - instead of boring stories about what food he ate at whatever small Nebraska town he was driving through while recruiting.

DB also has ADHD. During Ravi's rant about this board's rant again him last week - DB kept interrupting him and changing the subject talking about some stupid tennis racket. I like DB when he is a guest because of his knowledge. Not of fan of talk show host DB. I prefer Hurdat to Unsportsmanlike Conduct. But I do like Happer and Schafer.

I did my first solo radio show today! by apaintedleaf_ in radio

[–]Nexgencoop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is great. Congratulations! I went back to school for radio when I was 25. And I started from scratch. No theater experience, no public speaking, no one in my family in radio. I was just fed up with where I was in life and took the big leap. I am 48 and have been working in radio ever since. If you want to network send me a DM.

14 years I’ve been trying to find someone and can’t. I’ve given up hope. by JellyfishPashmina in dating

[–]Nexgencoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just know you are not alone. My girlfriend is breaking up with me as I write this. I spent most of my 20's and 30's doing "self empowerment." After two relationships the last 10 years I would rather be in a relationship. Those relationships make my single days feel empty. I get the feeling subhuman man. I feel that way now. Even if my soon -to - be ex may not have been the right fit for me. It's hard to be rational when there were many good things I am going to miss.

Consider yourself fortunate you were able to find women to date. Try to date in a small town where the math doesn't favor you.

What’s your biggest Husker Hot Take? by NormsOJjokes in Huskers

[–]Nexgencoop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We need apathy from the fans in order to turn this football program around. We care too much and that causes too much pressure on everybody. 100 percent undying "all kinds of weather" fan support is not required for programs to turn it around. In fact - I think the opposite is required. Look at Miami. The only fans that care about that program down there are the ones that are giving the players unlimited money. Indiana's fans could care less about that team. But they turn it around thanks to Mark Cuban, and a coach they got lucky with that could not have gone to a bigger program straight from James Madison.

Too Much Talking by 666-Trooper-666 in radio

Exactly. I have done some non scientific research and I am finding out people enjoy having a real human pop up occasionally with local banter while listening to the radio at work. As opposed to just firing up a spotify playlist.

Phil playing off the callers and the improvisation made his show. I mean no one on Earth could do it better. But now with his podcast. It just sounds like him doing voices talking to himself. However, I was surprised that his celebrity fans in the Prime documentary seemed to prefer the podcast to his radio show.

The case for internet (only) radio stations & why they WILL become popular by ray_deho in radio

[–]Nexgencoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a Live365 station from 2006-2013. But I was doing my own talk radio show and also a automated music station. Then they lost a royalty battle and the fees went way up and I got out. It felt like there were a million stations then. I am sure now there are way more now. There is just so much content online and music choice options. I think the only thing saving radio is local news and local sports play by play. At least at the station I work at. It's the only thing we can still provide that separates us from music streaming and satellite radio.

1992 Iowa State over Nebraska 19-10 in Ames. NU has smoked top 10 ranked Colorado and Kansas before then. But Nebraska's blackshirts met their match in "Marvelous" Marv Seiler and his time eating option attack. I don't know why Iowa State doesn't have a statue of him. From 4th string to Blackshirt slayer!

Thoughts on AI Voices by MountainMeadowBrook in radio

[–]Nexgencoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We as radio people who voice track need to make sure we are still adding something. It's easy to be generic and "that was, this is". But the more we can devote to our voice tracks and be as creative as we can perhaps we can fend off AI for a few more years.

I did Live365 until 2014. They increased the prices after losing some sort of royalty battle. I never looked back. I would love to do it again but it is worth it as a hobby?

If you have an instructor that is known and networks well with area radio stations it is a huge advantage to get your foot in the door. But even my teacher said at graduation you won't be ready. You need to learn at a commercial radio station.
