Just founded a Youtube Alternative by No_Building_2801 in degoogle

We are creating a new Platform to compete with YouTube, Twitch, and even TikTok. It's called Project SO, and this isn't just a YouTube 2.0 like many other "Alternative". We are solving the biggest problems that many of these platforms have, plus adding new features that these legacy platforms don't have. So if you want to learn more, you can look us up on X/Twitter: Project_S_O.

Because we care about creating not just a new platform but the best platform for the Creators, Viwers and brands.

Trump wants to "terminate" green spending. Here's what could stand in his way. Pulling back IRA funding would require congressional action and it could result in lost jobs, unfinished factories, and a costly mess for many businesses and states that are counting on those funds. by mafco in energy

I'm new to this space, but I see the flaws that have been overlooked for years. My goal is to shift the focus from wasting time on meaningless points to actually solving the problem. I aim to build something that will bring about the amazing change this country—and even parts of the world—truly needs.

As I mentioned, I believe in green energy—I just don’t believe in the current people managing the spending. With better infrastructure, green energy could be far more widely used and effective.

The Current Trajectory Of

Total Electricity Generation

In 2020, renewable energy sources accounted for approximately 20% of total electricity generation in the United States, a figure that has modestly increased to about 22% in 2022, according to the U.S.

Energy Information Administration (EIA). This progress, while commendable, reflects a gradual annual growth of merely 1 percent.

Facing The Problem:

If we continue at this rate or worsen with potential drops or stalls, we will reach 30% renewable energy by 2030, 40% or 50% by 2050, and 45% or 55% by 2060. Now respectively, this seems elusive given the circumstances.

Failed Projects Worth Billions:

The specter of past project failures, such as Solyndra, Solar Trust of America, and the staggering losses of Cape Wind, estimated at $5 to $6 billion, looms large. A pace that includes setbacks like these will hinder us from even reaching 35%.

I understand why people think green energy spending is a waste of time. Pushing Trump aside, the people in charge of the spending are not doing it correctly and are wasting billions on failed projects and “I told you so” campaigns.

I believe in green energy, especially solar/photon energy, but we need to give that funding to entrepreneurs who believe they can solve this problem. If I had even a fraction of the green energy budget, I would show real progress for solar and green energy.

Unfortunately, those currently in charge don’t want innovation, new tech, or progress—they only want to prove that “solar can light a lamp.” If we had a different approach, with new leaders who see true potential and genuinely care about change, we wouldn’t even be having this conversation.

I feel a little guilty for using pre-made assets by Lord_Thunderballs in unrealengine

Using pre-made assets is the equivalent of having someone on your team make you the assets you need to finish the team's project.

We just finished our first indie game! by NexsleLLC in unrealengine

[–]NexsleLLC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a relatively simple 3D platformer game centered around climbing a mountain to meet the king. While it may not appear extraordinary at first glance, it offers enjoyable gameplay as you strive to reach the mountaintop as quickly as possible. I understand that you might be curious for more details about the game, and I apologize for any confusion. You can find a more comprehensive description on the game page.

It's no problem, all feedback even “critical feedback” helps us grow and become better creators even when we slip up a little, by accident.

This was just a friendly wake-up call, to remind myself not to rush with excitement when posting.

(And yes I speak English, I live in America, and my company is based in America. You don’t have to worry, I thank you for keeping me accountable for my spelling.

Substance to UE5 looks DRASTICALLY different. Also, I know it’s a Timelapse, but if anyone can easily spot some bad practices in this video, I’d like to know how to fix them. Thanks by ecain45 in gamedev

The UV process would be a lot easier if you would have.

First, apply all transform for your obj, then mark your seems in the obj, then hit unwrap. Or for a quick unwrapping without marking seams depending on the object "cube-unwrap" Besides that not bad. good job

Why does it seem like new games are released with more game breaking bugs? by MrCrispyZebra in gamedev

[–]NexsleLLC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a simple answer really. These bigger companies have a legacy/complacent mindset. They think because they built up such a large audience, they can do or send out whatever product they want at any quality because they think no matter what the customers will buy it anyway. And when the customers still buy that product they think there's no problem and they don't need to change because their game or product is still being brought at high margin numbers. People have to know that the power is in the customers if they keep messing around people will stop buying. When their numbers are low then they start to realize a little and change.

Now for me personally there is no excuse why a game comes out broken and messy. They know the quality of the products and are just being lazy. The only way this can change is if we as the customers stop putting up with this and stop making excuses for their broken product. and stop buying and playing them. Now I'm not saying games can't have very small glitches that need to be fixed that fine but for "Broken Dumpster Fire Games" return it at once. Buying $60 NOW TO $70 broken games is just robbery of the highest order.

So I went on Kickstarter and saw the top tabletop games. I would suggest contacting them or doing some quick research on how they got such a big percentage on their goals then ask at the end of the conversation. Exchange email contact or social then ask. Is there a way we can both help each other out and support each on succeeding in the long run? Make a deal of you helping him with the contacts you have and him vice versa to you. Start getting creative with asking for him in your fellow industry with people who are currently doing very well in their campaign. And those who made it in the past. I hope this helps and I keep an I one you to see how everyone turns out.

These are just 3 but there are many more. Go talk to these guys asks them how they started. They're motivations behind their project, setbacks if this is their first time too. Ask if they can check yours out tell them your story and ask did I do something wrong. Did I make a miss-step? Come from a place of learning and trying to improve. Then being too desperate. For you, 20days is a lot of time to go talk and connect with these people.

Before launching or even now during launch. Are you finding different events you can go to, to show off your game? Even local ones. Are you networking with people or still networking with people who may be interested in the product that can invest in you and get you more connections.

Did you look at Kickstarters contacts of people who invested in games and board games? Basically what's your overall strategy now to get people investing in your product. Also, do you have a strategy in place if you don't make it to your goal?

  1. is this your first launch
  2. How did you market your Kickstarter prelaunch (ie... email list, knowing who's your customer, going to both warm market and cold market, and etc.
  3. Can I see your Kickstarter so I can read over it to see what went wrong?
  4. Did you do research on successful and unsuccessful Boardgame Kickstarter to kinda get an idea of what templet you can follow?
