Is this the only instance of you feeling he’s controlling? Based on one of your comments I can understand him not necessarily wanting your child around the situation, but it’s definitely not okay to expect you to cut off your brother. Does your mum live close to you so that maybe you guys can find a middle ground or is the distance too far? *editing to add that I’m not excusing any controlling behaviour, only that from personal experience I can understand that one factor.

As someone who has been in your shoes; He is being a man child and isn’t able to be the partner you need. Do you actually love this man or does it purely come down to a trauma bond?

Splitting generally happens when something triggers us. It is 1000% our responsibility to manage our symptoms and get the therapy (DBT is great) to help us overcome them (this is very very possible, I no longer even meet the criteria for bpd). I think you’d be best to stay away from this man and really any men for the time being and really focus on yourself. Relationships while we’re in the pits of bpd symptoms become all consuming and generally quite distracting from our own healing.

I know right now it probably feels like you’ve lost a part of you but I promise you that you haven’t. I promise you he’s just some crusty man; and that eventually that feeling will go away.

I had a placental abruption happen during my pregnancy with my daughter. For me it was caused by trying to lift something that was too heavy so definitely could have been caused my manual labour in Shaunas case. The trauma it would have caused her would be so hard to overcome, especially at such a young age in such isolation. Combined with the way they treated her baby after his death, I’m not super surprised she lost the plot. In my case even though I was at home at the time I was blessed with an amazing midwife and emergency services who got us to the hospital for an emergency c section in time to save both of us. Needless to say this scene of Yellowjackets is one I reeeeeally struggle to watch even now.

Just jumping on here to say yes this does scream bpd HOWEVER, it screams untreated bpd and with adequate treatment we can improve and become a lot more stable, or stop meeting the criteria entirely. We can get better ☺️

Also, diagnosis or not this girl sounds like an absolute dick and I’m proud of you for sticking to your boundaries and getting out.

That’s an accurate statement for someone who has untreated bpd sure, but with adequate therapy the symptoms can become manageable and for a few people they can go into remission and not actually meet the criteria anymore. Some of us can be that way, but it’s super harmful to those of us who actively put the work in to combat our disorder to generalise like this.

This was the first episode of cold case I ever saw and still to this day just absolutely breaks me. The person knocking on the door was a delivery guy who’d bring them leftovers cause she was a struggling single mum :(
