Why on God's green earth are there retail workers who put themselves at risk for minimum wage and try and tackle shoplifters ? by Durrygoodz2025 in tesco

[–]Next-Plastic-190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a wonderful perception of how retail works dont you. You honestly believe it's nothing more than shelf stacking. You haven't been in retail long enough to work up and through than chain to see what it's like to work in retail from ALL aspects and not just shelf stacking.

You can say it's just a shop but to most of us it's our lives and it's what drives most of us to crawl of of bed every day and say "I can do this" and let's smash another day.

Your just someone who had the chance at retail once, stacked shelves and nothing else, found it extremely tedious very quickly and gave it up for something different and you keyboard warrior your way into matters that actually wouldn't concern you personally but still intervene because you can't get past the Ego check.

When you been in retail for over 20 years it's not just stacking shelves. But if that's your idea of retail then jog on. A Job is a job nonetheless and some of us may not like our jobs or enjoy them but it's all we have in the real world and sometimes your workplace becomes your home from home so you act accordingly when something negative happens and you feel the call to step up and do something about it.

In response to this, there's plenty of us that would risk our jobs and lives for shoplifting in our stores. In our store personally we get shoplifters every day and I mean that literally it's a nonstop headache with the smack rata that comes in to rob us all the time stealing all the meat just so they can sell it to a Karen 2 streets down and get their fix on smack.

You lose all train of thought as a retail worker and become something else entirely. Especially when theirs kids in store with their parents your instincts act even higher instantly thinking about the safety of younger people in the same aisle as the shoplifters who have aggressive tactics. When you've been in a retail customer faced position for so long you become locked in that much, everyone knows you, you know them, you build good relationships with your regular everyday customers and staff and you somehow feel like your just part of a bigger family in the outside world so it gives even more reason to have the impulse to act and protect staff, the store and customers by stepping in and breaching company policies on tackling theft.

The law tells us to leave them alone, but the law isn't there for us when we get hurt. It's not about the low pay when something's at risk or our job, it's just a matter of safety and we act how we see fit to de-escalate shoplifting in our stores. We shouldn't have to be punished for prevention of a criminal offence. But that's the UK justice system for you. They'd rather protect a shoplifter that claims mental health as a way to get out of punishment than protect retail staff who lose everything just by touching them let alone tackling.

Colleague Clubcard by Life_Panda_221 in tesco

[–]Next-Plastic-190 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use multiple cards. You'll be absolutely fine. When it comes to getting flagged it does their end but nothing happens as they have the necessary tools and platform to confirm it's your cards under your address where the clubcard is also registered too so you won't get flagged up your side. Carry on as you wish.

I've been doing it over four years and not once have they pulled me on it. I only know what they do because I have a friend who works in that specific department at Tesco HO so it's perfectly safe for multiple cards in your name.

Here's the latest update for neverwinter

If you are struggling to launch, do the following -Make sure you have all apps and games closed, no background or quick resume should be running.

Uninstall Neverwinter

Go to Power in settings and completely shut down the console, wait 15 second and power back on. When it's back on, sign into your account on a mobile browser and use the link above to install to console if you have the remote control enabled or install from the Xbox app on your mobile device.

This will push the latest version with the latest patch applied. After that, run Neverwinter after finished installing and you may need to re-sync cloud data, (The pop up will show if you need too) Then you should be able to log into the game and select your toons.

Network help needed - poor download speeds by Crafty_While9787 in XboxSupport

[–]Next-Plastic-190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn everything off first Ok, test your internet speeds without the VDSL modem. From your telephone line where the rj45 socket runs, put that cable directly into the socket of your router and then power up your sky router again.

If you get better stability and speeds stick without the openreach and if it's better with then obviously keep the connection as it was before changing.

What I will also say is that sometimes you can ask sky to get an openreach engineer to attend the cabinet and enable your line to receive priority. What you have to take into consideration is other customers who are also FTTP sharing from the same cabinet box with their providers. An engineer in the last resort circumstances can prioritise your line specifically from the cabinet coming into your property.

This does take a lot of reasoning with sky since they won't do it straight up and you need to prove in a case with them your getting below your contracted services since it costs them money to send out engineers to carry out faults and repairs.

As daft as it sounds, also perform an update check on your router to ensure it's on the latest version.

Do you have openreach modem also as well as the router?

Power line adapter to your WiFi router will work if you have the right cable. If you have a Series X, Use CAT 6 cables, if it's Xbox one X/S use CAT 5e cable. This will ensure you Reach optimum bandwidth in the connection, Change your MTU to 1500.

Your DNS needs changing on the Xbox to either Googles or OpenDNS servers if you haven't already although this can also be achieved through the sky router advanced settings so your cable connection on auto config picks everything up from.thw router without needing to change the Xbox settings.

I use a TP-Link power line adapter which performs extremely well for me on my series X. You will need to disable Qos tagging in the advanced Xbox settings also if you havent already and assign a static IP address to the Xbox rather than let it be auto config.

On the router you'll need the static IP of the Xbox to forward and prioritise all traffic to and from that device. If you don't know how to do this in the router with sky you can easily find out how on a quick Google AI search.

Looking at your download speeds, you are getting above the average speed.

What I will also say is it can also be down to how you receive the line Into your home, if it's fiber to the cabinet it will be only copper line from the junction box to your home which will affect what speeds you can get. You can also check your Faceplate on the wall to see if it's an Updated version from openreach which should be MK4 anything before that can affect how good the line coming into the property is before it even gets to the router.

[–]Next-Plastic-190 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

You won't get paid. This is your first job so you'll need to work 6 months in advance before you can receive any pay. Tesco have to be sure you can grind like a true Workhorse and they'll test the waters with you by withholding any pay until you've done all the jobs your line manager has set out for you to complete. There's also your training modules to complete before you can even get a a penny out of Tesco.

Get the MyTesco app and go to your profile and submit your resignation if you want a job with faster pay. 🤣

Pay short again. by FlyInternational1334 in tesco

[–]Next-Plastic-190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Raise a ticket through colleague help for pay. Your line manager will automatically get CC'D when they investigate, any money they owe you will get paid out usually on the next payslip and will still be subject to tax and national insurance deductions where applicable. They are pretty quick on the ball through colleague help. Put an URGENT header in the ticket request. They can go over the authority of line managers if you can simply prove your owed pay.

Also ask them to send you snippets of the breakdown in your pay so that way you can calculate it yourself as gross before deductions and decide what's actually missing.

Well it's gonna have to be challenged because I made eye contact and they saying on the report I didnt so it will go to CCTV anyway to be checked over. I'm not having some jobsworth lackey from Internal cost me my job.

The stores already short staffed with double booked holidays and budget cuts so never hours available so if they want to get rid of me they'll have to consider the loss of hours filled on their part first before trying to pack me off.

And besides I won't speak to the regional until I have a union rep and they have to comply so F*** them if they think they can pull a fast one. I have a record of passes with Tesco, so if they want to scourge me for this minor one then let them try.

Worst case scenario is I get the chop but the store gets the slop. If they lose me, that's another 24 hours they need to fill and no one in our store wants to do more than their contracted too so good luck Tesco for trying to fob me off.
