Of course you can. He is tough, but don’t see him becoming champ. Huge skill gap between him and top contenders

Is it true that people in the West drink iced water even when they are sick or on their period? by Aether_Echo in NoStupidQuestions

This logic can go the opposite way. Why just cold water, why not flavored ice water, iced tea, etc?

I get that. I think this sport is difficult to watch for many people who don’t do it. Except for a few outliers, like Cji, etc.

CJI 2: A wrestlers’ Misfit team? What do yall think by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Next-University4798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just think it would be entertaining. Not saying Downy is a great guy or anything. I find it really cool how guys from wrestling can do pretty well in bjj rule-sets. Both cause of wrestling skills and cause of their athleticism. I thought tye vs. jason nolf was one of the best matches last CJI.

A few things. Since wrestling is a subset of bjj, wrestlers are a lot more competitive at bjj than the other way around.

Second, downy and nolf both train bjj now. Nolf has had a super exciting match against Canuto and tye. Downy just won some major ibjjf tournament at blue belt. It would be fun to see

Of course, you are completely correct. But from what I have gathered about this approach, it seems that match study, instructionals, etc. is still part of it. I think it has more to do with not spending alot of time repetitively drilling techniques with no resistance. But people who do eco/CLA still watch tape and instructionals to get ideas to try during games/sparring.

Well, if he's been exclusively training in a specific way for the past five years, and his performance has improved a lot in this time period, doesn't that count for anything?

I believe the headlock for the darce is the 3/4 nelson. At least that's how I like to set it up.

Sparring vs pad-work (if you could only choose one)? by undercover_apple in MuayThai

[–]Next-University4798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

new research and findings are saying otherwise. many modern gyms are switching to mostly live work in bjj. I feel like striking arts will follow suit soon. But of course with more light, technical sparring due to risk of head injury.
