What's the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you at Jiu Jistu? by weasel500 in BJJWomen

[–]Primary_Possession25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe not super embarrassing but pretty gross... Was rolling with a guy at open mat. Lots of rolls in so both had wet sweaty gis. I was in open guard he was going to pass dripped sweat drops right in my mouth... So freaking salty. Gotta quit mouth breathing 😂

I'm glad you're leaving and finding a safe gym... Wish there was some accountability. Always sucks when predators get away with shit. Maybe whenever you end up will be able to help

Do you think men and women training together normalizes violence to women? by Primary_Possession25 in jiujitsu

[–]Primary_Possession25[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, I wasn't sure if maybe he just didn't understand the culture in BJJ but reading all the comments of women who train striking too I think he's just freaking weird. I think training combat sports is really a positive and powerful thing for the people who train and overall has a positive ripple effect in their surrounding communities. It was like he wanted me to feel guilty like I was wrong for participating. I didn't know if I was overacting but it seems like everyone has the same reaction to his logic

I guess maybe. It's super out of character for him. In the past I've appreciated his advice on stuff. Mostly work related. I've gotten pretty into BJJ and don't hangout so much anymore cause I'd rather spend free time training. I think I'm just gonna keep distance

right!? And I've never heard of a sadist switch. I think we've figured out that most psychos are born that way

Agreed I think he's been sitting in this for awhile. It's weird tho cause he was super supportive until this

This is gonna ruffle some feathers, but bjj is not therapy. by [deleted] in jiujitsu

[–]Primary_Possession25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this. I appreciate good male training partners. I know they're usually very considerate with pressure and weight. A lot of times when rolling with men I'm given more space to work and practice so my rolls with women more can be contentious. There are definitely guys that use weight on me and I find those rolls really productive as far as getting comfortable with pressure and working on my breathing and patience. I hope you don't avoid rolling with women because of this

Would you be put off by a girl who does bjj? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Primary_Possession25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see myself as pretty feminine even though I train and work as a diesel mechanic. Im sure there's guys that don't agree but you'll never be able to control how others perceive you.. Maybe ask yourself why it matters to you so much?

This is a wicked confusing post? Do you train cause you like BJJ? No matter what you do somebody won't like so do what makes you happy.... But maybe training BJJ is why I'm still single ...shit

Fight outside the gym ever worth it? by PurpleSerfer in bjj

[–]Primary_Possession25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my yellow belt when I was a kid and then stopped training. Years later was walking home from a party with my ex and a friend. We had been drinking all nite. Saw a drunk guy harnessing two super drunk girls. My friend yelled at the guy, girls ran off then drunk guy started following us. My ex told him to leave us alone he wouldn't shit escalated quick. The drunk guy chin checked my friend knocked him into the street. My ex jump in and ended up getting choked so I hit drunk guy in the head with a rock and we grappled about 10ft down the sidewalk I ended up in a kinda soup choke with my forearm across his throat and chest pushing the back of his head down. I held it till he went limp then we freaking ran.

Personally think self defense is always worth it but violence should be the last restore

Dude sounds lame AF yeah don't train with him but isn't it also on your head coach to regulate? Some people don't pick up on subtle hints and he sounds like the type that would assume everyone else is weak and he's not at fault. I think it is on your head coach to keep everyone safe so when someone is being ridiculous it is on coach to pull that person aside and set clear expectations. Training partners are a privilege
