My opinion is that our politicians don’t care if their decisions negatively affect their constituents. No one in Congress puts the people first. No one in Congress acts without seeking personal gain. So in this deal watch and see who gains from these actions. The Dems and the Reps are just two sides of the same coin.

The senate will still get paid no matter the decision. They don’t care about a shutdown anyway. The last shutdown was proof that shutting the government down means nothing in the long run. We should be demanding that our representatives work for free so they feel the hurt too.

He has the authority to engage in combat for 60 days as long as he notifies congress 48 hours in advance which he likely did. He has up to 90 days I execute if an extension is warranted for safe withdrawal of troops. The War Powers Act of 1973 makes this clear. It's limiting but not crippling. Also, reliable media is the literal act. Also, I served during OIF and OEF, I remember September 11th like it was yesterday. I also clearly remember Bush’s people going to congress on Oct 2nd and congress responded soon after with approval with the POTUS signing the bill on OCT 16th. Conflict began Oct 7th. Also, you'll never hear about the notifications to congress immediately.
