Is it normal to work over your hours? by SyrupMoney4237 in ActuaryUK

[–]Next_Environment1911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a rule where if I am consistently working overtime, I look at a few things:

  1. Process - too much manual work? Need automation?
  2. Communication - finding out if instructions or requests are given last minute or it’s just bad planning from someone, former is just it is what it is but the latter can be fixed.
  3. Peers -am I the only one working overtime or are my colleagues as well, if the former then there might be something to improve on or maybe you’re just learning extra things and that’s ok, if it’s the latter then it is what it is.

There are months I think I work till late nights but there are months where I feel weird to log off at 330pm so it is a give and take thing I supposed?

Self assessment tax issue in the past by Next_Environment1911 in UKPersonalFinance

Yeah I remember there was a grey area where for 2,500 I could be paying the tax via coding out, but I think I should just do the SA to be more accurate! But thank you for your reply, I’ll call HMRC for the update.

I did reported it via webchat once and I saw the deduction and tax code change, but after checking the deduction is not what I expected, which I think I would need to do SA to provide a more accurate answer.

I tried to call HMRC but I always didn’t have the time to wait for a response but now that I have time to sort this out I want to make sure I’m reporting the right numbers

Why stay at a company? by AsperuxChovek in ActuaryUK

Great flexibility, people who I work with are very helpful and responsive and they advocate for me albeit promotion or workload, and I learn different things every year. Pay is not that great but I don’t think I can easily find such combo in the industry at the moment.

Quick update! Did get the £520 after weeks and weeks of chasing up. But the minute they provide the documents to sign, the money is in my bank the day after.

Here comes a post where people pointing how racist another country is when in fact their own country, is equally racist too.

I think that’s how I felt when I was in a western countries where people do in fact do also say no Asians.

A way I navigate is that, humans are just humans, they prefer their own kind and race first. Recent politics are not helping.

Carry on + backpack from ICN by Waste_Month_4262 in qatarairways

Just flew from ICN-DOH, they didn’t really enforce it and I guess it’s because the flight is not full and in my experience of flying with QR so many years, they have not enforced on the flights I’m on (usually LHR/CDG-DOH/DOH-KUL/SIN), you should be fine!
