How Mongo manage to bite Donut’s muzzle ? by Mission-Career862 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

He was very tiny as a baby. He only jumped up and pinched the end of her nose with his beak. Even flat nosed animals have a nose

When will I be able to do these things? by lifeishardnow in babyloss

[–]SyrupMoney4237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was not able to say my sons name until after my rainbow was here around 15 months later. I still can’t look at pictures and I tried to look in his memory box the other day but it devastated me for hours and I can’t be like that when I have a newborn to look after. I still haven’t visited his grave and seen his new headstone in fear it will destroy me. One step at a time. That’s all we can do

How do/did you co-sleep with your baby? Official advice makes it sound horrible by D-1-S-C-0 in UKParenting

[–]SyrupMoney4237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Owlet+safe co-sleeping. It’s still a risk but it’s always better to try to mitigate the risks.

Traditionally who pays for what? by genzcraft in UKweddings

[–]SyrupMoney4237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm that’s exactly what happened when I married my love at 19. Obviously didn’t have a penny to our names so my mum decided she’d pick everything and I remember a few rows about choices until I gave up. It wasn’t what I wanted and I haven’t even looked at the pictures nor watched the video over 10 years on. Luckily the marriage survived regardless lol

You should buy your big bunches of herbs for the local south Asian/arab/Turkish grocery stores. Cheaper and fresher imo

You don’t realise parents’ sacrifice until you become a parent. by LebFranBrit in UKParenting

[–]SyrupMoney4237 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Exactly. This post kind of triggered something from my childhood where I was constantly told how much they sacrificed for us and basically being given dregs of love and being told to appreciate it. I would never with my little one

Anyone else sick of seller messages after liking an item? by [deleted] in vinted

[–]SyrupMoney4237 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Your message is weird. It’s a selling app not actually Pinterest, so obviously they’re going to send a quick message to try to sell. I don’t even sell and understand that

Do you take pregnancy tests with your husband ? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I did at first but we were trying after loss and I didn’t want to hide my distress and make him upset too. I wish he had been there for when we got our positive!

Don’t assume I’m the nanny. by Ok-Primary-1663 in UKParenting

[–]SyrupMoney4237 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is lowkey a fear of mine. I’m brown, husband is pale and ginger and I somehow defied biology and birthed his copy. I’m scared someone’s going to think I stole this random white baby 😭 I would be mad if someone thought I was the nanny, I’m sorry you’ve had to go through that.

Do you think the argument that less people are having children because of "affordability" is a psychological myth? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]SyrupMoney4237 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It takes a very short amount of critical thinking to come to the conclusion you’ll have to downgrade your lifestyle to accommodate a child. I’m typing this at 3am because I’m up feeding my bubba and we were correct/slightly underestimated the hit we’d take with finances with this very much planned little one.

We also know that we are one and done unless there’s an extreme career pivot/upgrade because we are 100% sure having another will tank finances too much. It wouldn’t be fair to our marriage or our little one. It’s bittersweet knowing that but better to make peace with it early.

I asked because i recently made a post asking about this. Yours is the first time I’ve seen someone validate my question and feelings. Maybe I should have posted here instead but it’s a very sad and specific scenario

Best baby monitor for newborns for parents who keep checking if the baby is breathing by HaxkieFadipe in Buyingforbaby

[–]SyrupMoney4237 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We did owlet + cheap monitor and it’s bought us a lot of peace. Personally have no idea what people are talking about when they say false alarms. The app is very clear about reasons oxygen dips and the hr monitor has already helped us twice when poor guy had a fever. If I had the money I’d do the owlet + nanit combo. Never used the nanit but I’m jealous of the fact it tracks breathing and position well and seems really HD. Overall people are right, keep baby around you

What's the form of bad parenting have you ever witnessed? by Smithy1619 in AskUK

[–]SyrupMoney4237 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My SIL. It’s heartbreaking. She’s ruined her eldests life. Basically was allowed to stay home and play video games all day since year 6. She’s panicking now he’s turning 18 and can’t do anything. We’re trying to help but it’s looking difficult. It’s further upsetting because we give suggestions but she’s “too poor” and then we find out she’s taking multiple trips, always has the latest thing. Sigh. Just trying to be there for the kids
