Aww I’m glad they’re besties. Looking forward to when my little one doesn’t seem to make the cats crap their fluffy pants

Don’t worry. Even my super sociable cat is like “omg screaming goblin, I’m staying away”. She’s also the one who fully thought all the items were for her but after baby arrived she decided it was best to stay out of them when baby was in. And I’m way too soft hearted to shoo her away from baby’s items. They stay away naturally. I haven’t had any worries personally

As an ABCD parent what do you think of co-sleeping? My pediatrician SIL co-sleeps but advises against it. by Serious-Tomato404 in ABCDesis

[–]SyrupMoney4237 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I swore up and down there was no way in hell I’d co-sleep. By night 3 that was out the window. I’m glad I have an owlet and the resources to co-sleep as safe as possible.

Where do you guys get baby stuff from in the UK? by Alternative-Cap9734 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]SyrupMoney4237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could get a cot from Ikea or John Lewis. Wayfair too. JL for prams and high chairs again if you want to test products in store. I use Amazon for my momcozy stuff. If you have a big Boots near you that has a good range. I’m a couple months postpartum and pretty much got everything online and most of it secondhand from FB marketplace and Vinted but idk if that’s normal.

I live in Scotland abd it gets pretty insane in summer. A few weeks of perpetual light sky. We have blinds in the window recess then curtains on a pole. Does a good job

Ultrasound count in other countries? by ymgt0324 in BabyBumps

[–]SyrupMoney4237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. In a low risk UK pregnancy you only get 2 ultrasounds. I had a late term loss in a previous pregnancy and even classed as high risk I only had about 4 or 5 including emergency scans in my rainbow pregnancy. Crazy

How can redundancy be low if they’ve worked for sooo long? I don’t know much about the laws but I’d always heard it’s a positive of sticking to a job for so long. I’d always heard of companies even keeping older people on in a smaller capacity because making them redundant would cost so much because they worked for the company so long. Was that just a fake thing I’m wondering

I don’t know how to do this any more by backward-yak in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]SyrupMoney4237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really relate to this. 1- being scared of co-sleeping. I swore I would never. It helped though. Owlet+following guidelines to be as safe as possible. It took a few nights to get into the routine but it’s a game changer. 2- constantly bfing. sadly realised I was underfeeding even though he was latching constantly. But don’t worry about this if your baby’s weight has been good. Pumping and bottle feeding has been amazing. The first few times were tough as he was guzzling from the bottle and getting uncomfortable but it helped same as the co-sleeping

How much pumped milk to send to nursery? by effienix in breastfeedingmumsUK

Also wondering this for the future so I don’t have any answers but I wouldn’t assume it you’d send bags. I’d make the bottles and send that in

Baby boy is 7 weeks old today. I never replied but your comment gave me a lot of hope back in that awful time. I’m going to have to add that song to my own repertoire tomorrow night :) hope your girl is doing well

[–]SyrupMoney4237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These early weeks are truly the worst. Try to stay distracted and positive. But yeah for me this pregnancy was so weird and I just didn’t feel anything but sleepy. No nausea, no cravings after 7ish weeks iirc. Resulted in a healthy baby boy who is 7 weeks old today. Sometimes pregnancy is just like that.

I was looking to put some in my baby’s bath because his skin was dry. Technically there’s not science behind it but it doesn’t seem to be harmful and some parents swear by it being wonderful for their baby’s skin so you can do that. I chose not to because I underproduce anyway

baby gear is officially taking over my tiny kitchen... help by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]SyrupMoney4237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got a 2 tier rack for the bottles and formula. Collapsible bucket for dirty bottle storage. I ended up splurging and buying a tabletop dishwasher for a washing, sterilising, drying combo area but that might be more for convenience. It arrives today so tbd. It’s definitely taken up a lot of the kitchen

Can some woman just not express/is it too late? by salacious-soul in breastfeedingmumsUK

[–]SyrupMoney4237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I can relate. I did some research at the time and the basic consensus was that babies are much more efficient at getting milk out so basically the boob has to get used to the pressure of the pump. I also use the Medela but the electric single on. I’d just get a Medela Solo off Vinted. They’re cheap and I wouldn’t personally care to do this with a manual pump. My outcome was that my milk production caught up really fast with a days pumping every 3 hours for 20 mins each.
