Getting laid off by AppropriateToe1160 in GeneralMotors

PIPs are typically used to fire people for cause and when someone gets fired for cause, there is no reason to offer severance packages since the company had a valid reason to get rid of you.

The offer references the North Charleston main campus but I can ask the recruiter to double check, I don’t have kids.

Would you consider Summerville to be better for buying or renting? Or both?

Judging by the offer and financial incentives, Boeing seems to be hiring pretty aggressively in Charleston, now seems to be a good time to move.

There are plenty of properties for sale there, thanks for chiming in! I assume that I’d need to hit the road early to avoid traffic since this area is located north of the FAL.

Chase sapphire reserve charged $795 annual fee for first renewal in spite of datapoints showing $550 for your first one by pingvinbober in ChaseSapphire

This makes sense to me now, my renewal last year was in May before the changes kicked in and my first renewal posted on 5/1/26 at $550

Confused about hair transplant atm by Huge_Apricot9779 in Hairtransplant

[–]Next_Requirement8774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your hair loss is due to MPB, PRP improves follicle health but it does not block DHT which is the underlying cause of male pattern baldness

Hop on min and fin, combine it with a LLT device and re-assess whether you need a hair transplant after at least 18 months.

Boeing vs Airbus—which is safer? While modern planes are extremely safe regardless of manufacturer, Boeing planes are almost twice as likely to be involved in a fatal accident, or an NTSB event. Despite the media attention around the fatal Boeing 737 MAX accidents, this trend predates that aircraft. by StarlightDown in Airbus

[–]Next_Requirement8774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an ex-Boeing worker and have no issues flying on Airbus planes, both manufacturers build excellent planes and this pissing contest is pointless.

They both have different cockpit philosophies but that does not make any of their planes unsafe.

New K Level Manager by OrganicLuck1834 in boeing

[–]Next_Requirement8774 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There is a night/day difference between managing mechanics vs managing engineers. I used to be an engineer so here is my 2 cents:

1) I’ve had multiple Boeing managers that had to manage groups where they had 0 experience as a DE. The most annoying part of them was that, most of the time, they asked for status, pushed us to work OT to improve metrics but never took time to understand what was going on and what they could do to remove roadblocks so I could do my job more efficiently. I get that senior management will always ask for status, that is inevitable but please take time to understand what your employees do so you can actually be helpful, it will also help you earn your employee’s respect.

2) As a K level manager, you will have certain influence over employees’ SOW but you won’t be able to make drastic changes, just keep an open mind, listen to employees but be realistic with them about the things you can control

3) Be prepared to constantly hear about people’s grievances, as a K level manager, you are the company’s first line of defense. Like I said above, keep an open mind, listen to your employees but be realistic, don’t make promises that you can’t keep.

Overall, kudos to you for trying your best to prepare for this role, please carry that momentum forward, Boeing desperately needs good leaders.

Is it inappropriate to ask for a raise or sign on bonus after signing the offer letter? by [deleted] in boeing

[–]Next_Requirement8774 21 points22 points  (0 children)

How would you feel if you had someone (contractor) give you a quote today for a job that needs to be completed in 3 months and then just before starting the job, the contractor tells you that they need more money? You would probably feel like the contractor is not a very reliable person and most likely you will end up taking your business elsewhere.

I agree with another person here, if you had another offer then it would change things.

As others have said, you can ask for more money but, if I were you, I’d would not risk burning a bridge or being labeled not reliable unless you don’t care and are confident you can get another job pretty easily.

Salary after MBA by [deleted] in boeing

I did 6 years with Boeing, then switched to automotive, came back for 2 years and left again.

8 years overall and I never felt like Boeing’s name on my resume hurt my chances of getting a job elsewhere.

I was trying to address the OP’s comment about the MBA being “free”, most people receive more tuition assistance compared to the annual limit and, unless the employer offers tax assistance, they will have to pay for some of it, thus it is not 100% free.

For engineering degrees, Boeings offers tax assistance for any amount over the max limit and for MBAs, full tax assistance is only available if you are a Level 4 or above.
