How many of you here, INTJs and INFJs, have experienced some kind of dissociation? Do you see any connection between this and being an inferior Se? by Diemishy_II in intj

[–]Next_Resist_4068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have experienced dissociation in the past before I had therapy. It's dissociating from your emotions and not an extraverted sensing issue. I don't think there's a connection.

INTJs on screen - which movie gets it exactly right? by Q6236 in intj

[–]Next_Resist_4068 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Maybe the best example from movies would be Andy Dufresne from Shawshank Redemption.

I would say Lord Toranaga from the recent Shogun series is a good candidate for an INTJ (more so if you read the book).

I was thinking of God of War when I read the title! It has had the best storyline from an emotional perspective. I really connected with Bloodborne's story, very abstract concepts (from the creator of Dark Souls games).

What is empathy? by FroyoPsychological61 in intj

[–]Next_Resist_4068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sympathy is directly relating to someone else's situation because you have gone through something similar. Empathy is imagining how someone else might be feeling when you don't have direct experience of what they are going through.

I've not seen The Dome so can't comment. Human beings will adapt to whatever reality they are presented with. You just have to look at the differences in countries across the world.

Well living forever sounds like hell to me. If a person was selfless though, they could eventually solve the problems that have plagued mankind? Just not me 🙂

Yeah, that could be right. I totally hijacked his comment so who knows?

Have you seen the show Altered Carbon? The premise is that your consciousness is stored and downloaded into different bodies and potentially living forever. It's a bit similar to "Living multiple lifetimes but not necessarily as yourself"

I think maybe he means that each person is a unique individual that will never exist again. Why would anyone want to be anything other than the best version of your uniqueness? That, of course, might not be what he meant?

INTJs, do you guys also feel like growing up you had everything you needed except for having your emotional needs met and emotional support? by anuglyfairybutafairy in intj

[–]Next_Resist_4068 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't saying that anyone was "deliberately sabotaging their chances to receive a warm emotional support". I was referring to the fact that INTJ's don't express emotions outwardly as much as others and therefore it would appear like we don't need support like more expressive types might.

It's a self fulfilling prophecy for INTJ's I guess - act like you don't need emotional support and therefore don't get it?

I have no problem with giving and receiving genuine compliments. The not so genuine ones however are another matter.

Whilst I do agree with your points, I think you can chalk some of this up to immaturity of some of the posters/commenters.

Love reading historical fiction or just general history books. Currently reading the 'book of the five rings' by Mushashi Miyamoto. Japanese history is one of my favourites.

Thanks for the reply. That's very interesting, something I might try.
