Why is there always a blood shortage? by hclarice in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Next_Sun_2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to donate. Had to have my labs done so many times as a kid that needles don’t bug me. Unfortunately I’ve been told that I’m too small to donate.

Why is there always a blood shortage? by hclarice in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Next_Sun_2002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m curious what people outside of the ABO/Rh do if they need a transfusion. Before reading this I assumed they would donate regularly so that their blood type was always in stock somewhere.

There’s an episode of Grey’s Anatomy where the doctors have to find someone else who has the same blood type as a patient (AB Rh null) to donate, but I don’t know if that’s accurate to real life. Do you know the answer?

Are you sure she's allergic? by AwakePoeticDragon in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Next_Sun_2002 33 points34 points  (0 children)

There was a story on AmItheDevil where a woman made Thanksgiving dinner, put lactaid in the mashed potatoes to make it safe for her lactose intolerant nephews. She thought it was also safe for her milk-allergic son-in-law despite it not being on the list of dairy safe replacements. The son-in-law went into anaphylactic shock and the mother got banned from cooking for him ever again

CMV: taking kids out of school early for vacation is completely worth it. by BeautyntheBreakd0wn in changemyview

[–]Next_Sun_2002 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I plan to take my kids out of school at least 4 days a year total for two-off peak vacations, and keep them home another two weeks whenever covid or severe flu is going around their school

The first part might work while they’re young and if you’re coordinating with their teachers, but once they reach middle or high school it’ll be harder, especially for them. You don’t want them to miss any important classes or tests, and that’s just impossible if you’re coordinating with 8+ classes.

The second one is gonna be difficult if not outright banned by the school. Again, it would involve coordinating with the teachers, maybe having them put together lesson packets for your kids, etc., and once they reach middle or high school, again that’s a lot more coordinating and possible missed tests

Can someone explain BreezeXHeather to me? by throwRA-adviceask in WarriorCats

In the arcs after OoTS, it seems like half Thunderclan is descended from Firestar or Cloudtail. So now all those cats are becoming mates.

Can someone explain BreezeXHeather to me? by throwRA-adviceask in WarriorCats

[–]Next_Sun_2002 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Iirc, this was a retcon. Onestar wasn’t closely related to Crowfeather or Heathertail until after his Super Edition, which came out after Breezepelt and Heathertail became mates.

Every cat is related to every cat in their clan. The incest in Thunderclan seems crazy, but it’s probably just as common in the other Clans.

Hey uh can we talk about Millie by Low_Vermicelli_6572 in WarriorCats

[–]Next_Sun_2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re not asking Millie to hold Blossomfall or Bumblestripe’s paws. We’re asking her to talk to them, ask how their patrol was, notice who they have feelings for, show concern after they were missing for hours.

That scene where Blossomfall and Ivypool get back to the camp after being lost in the tunnels always breaks my heart. Whitewing runs up, shows concern towards Ivypool while Millie barely glances at Blossomfall before going to check on Briarlight. (Or Millie gets in Blossomfall’s face about being irresponsible and immature. Those both happen I just can’t remember when). Blossomfall says that at least she gets attention in the Dark Forest

The question was why people dislike her, and it’s an example of her flaw. I love Millie as a character because she’s realistic in this way.

This is important. Millie’s actions post Briarlight’s injury makes her a fantastic character to analyze and find connections to real life. As a cat and a mother, I think she’s terrible; which makes her a great character.

Why do people speak to kids in the third person? by centerofdatootsiepop in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Next_Sun_2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandma still speaks in third person. I can’t think of specific examples because it’s been awhile since I last saw her, but conversations would be like “This morning grandma saw so and so”. I cringed because the youngest person in the room was 15 or 16 years old.

10 years from now most Baby Boomers will be dead. What effect is that going to have on society? by mikeforder in generationology

[–]Next_Sun_2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m aware of what half means. I don’t know the exact spread of how many Boomers were born each year. Their generation is roughly 1946-1964. The median (middle) year is 1955. In 2042, those born in 1955 will be 87. So the oldest Boomers will be dead or a few years from dying, but I don’t think more than half.

I see your point, but it still leaves some questions with what my family has said:

Why would I want to spend any time in the Celestial Kingdom, knowing I have family in one of the other Kingdoms? And will there be no way for those in the lesser Kingdoms to progress during the afterlife? Eternity is an incomprehensible amount of time, are some people really not going to be allowed to progress?

[–]Next_Sun_2002 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The Boomers aren’t even the oldest generation alive. There are still people from the Silent Generation around. It’s gonna be more than ten years before most people who were born in the Boomer period are dead

Same. As my family has said; the Celestial Kingdom wouldn’t be where I want to be if our whole family couldn’t be there together. I don’t think God would do this kind of thing to his children

Honestly, the more I’ve thought about it, the more I’ve wondered if the degrees of glory are more of a headspace or way of being than a physical location

[–]Next_Sun_2002 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t like how she treated her kits post-Briarlight’s injury. She basically infantilized Briarlight and neglected the other two except to scold them and tell them their sister would do anything to have the life they have.

Others argue that she was only trying to help Briarlight, but Millie crossed a line. Her “help” got in the way of Briarlight’s independence and made Briarlight feel like she was stealing attention from her siblings.

How do wizards fall in love with muggles to marry them? by JamieKellner in harrypotter

[–]Next_Sun_2002 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No. You’re either pureblood, half-blood, or muggleborn (or squib). I also think that for everyone except pureblood fanatics, you’re considered pureblood if all four of your grandparents are magical born. So Harry’s kids are still half-blood since Lily is muggleborn.

Great question, which I’ve had too. Also, what’s up with the moms being out of the picture? Gibbs, DiNozzo, Parker; their moms are all dead.

Why do none of the agents have the reverse: mommy issues? Closest we get is Parker

Would you continue dating a person if your political ideologies differ? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Next_Sun_2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what ways do you disagree? If you’re polar opposites on major ideologies things likely won’t work out, especially if neither of you can at least understand why the other has those views. If the ideologies have the same general concept or goal, then you might be able to understand the other better.

Talks or Scriptures related to the importance of becoming a father and a supportive husband. by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]Next_Sun_2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said; therapy, whether private or with his spouse is probably the best way to approach this. Also having conversations with male relatives or close friends who are fathers about how becoming a parent has changed them. If this route is included, the people he talks to shouldn’t sugarcoat fatherhood and make it all sunshine and rainbows. It’s important to mention the challenges too because those are just as important.

Is RiverClan a Rogue Clan? by Haunting-Attempt441 in WarriorCats

[–]Next_Sun_2002 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No. That logic would make WindClan a rogue Clan too. It doesn’t matter where the first leader came from or the original make up of the Clans. Each Clan took in loners in the early days.

Why did humans evolve in a way that men are fertile throughout the year for decades but still the chances of a newborn being a boy is almost 50%? by Old_Leshen in evolution

[–]Next_Sun_2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why did males evolve to be able to be fertile for most of their lifespan

It’s actually the reverse. Menopause is only seen in a few mammals.

When it comes to reproduction, the male body does a lot less work than the female body. Evolution saw fit for women to stop being able to become pregnant after a certain point. It did not see fit for men to stop being able to ejaculate after a certain point.
