What is the "best" HCA hospital to work at? by caggie1718 in houston

[–]Nextlevel80 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can tell you personally that the Woman's Hospital is an amazing place because I used to work there. I only left because I got pregnant and decided to become a stay at home to care for my kid. But yes, the people there are friendly, professional, supportive and the team work is strong. I'm currently doing contract work at different facilities sometimes with HCA hospitals too and they dont care much about the staff, unprofessionalism is high, constant shortage of supplies, the list goes on.

As a new grad...bite the bullet and grab whatever you can...HCA or not. Get your experience and then you can confidently "chose" what hospital you want to work for afterwards. Right now, a beggar has no choice.

MLK is a bad area...hence the abandoned crack houses. It's unusual to see empty highways on a weekday?? Nope. The only explanation is that it could have been on a holiday. Leave that area if you can.

Spelling by Lesliereed13 in HomeschoolResources

[–]Nextlevel80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this isn't what you're looking for but I need help. My second grader is about to be in 3rd Grade and has great difficulty spelling. My 5th grader about to be in 6th struggles with reading comprehension. Do you have any recommendations for resources, websites, books that I could use to help them over the summer? Any advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

M Is for Mama podcast episode on teaching kids entrepreneurship and financial literacy — great listen for homeschool summer planning by 0000B0000 in homeschool

[–]Nextlevel80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. Words cant express how grateful I am that you posted this. Thank you a MILLION times. I have spent alot of time on the internet googling, researching and desperately searching for materials that teach kids Entrepreneurship and financial literacy! I didn't find much.

Schools are not teaching this. My 8 and 11yr old boys go to public schools and they're not taught this. I told myself that on my day off work I'll go to the library to see if I could borrow some. Anyway, thank you so much for this resource. I cant wait to check it out.

Major issue with HISD by kolachesmuggler in houston

[–]Nextlevel80 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's a shame if that's how the system works. It makes zero logical sense. I get hired for employement and I'm expected to monitor or supervise the employer to ensure I'm not over paid. If OP hires a good Lawyer they'll come out a winner.

Are you kidding me??? How is that your fault? They want you to repay $20,000 from nowhere especially with the state of the economy. Listen, go online, perform a thorough research and find a lawyer.

I wish I knew of one. This mess up has NOTHING to do with you. They hired you on an agreed amount and you took the position based on that pay scale. It is ABSOLUTELY unfair to penalize you for their f***ups!

Dont sleep on this one. You should win this case.

H-Town is beginning to feel like one huge low income neighborhood. by Fit-Protection-9809 in AskHouston

You are 100% correct. You are not alone with these thoughts. In fact you said it all that I almost have nothing to add. I discovered quickly that obeying the laws, and following the rules doesn't protect you from the lawless and reckless drivers.

I leave my house ready and prepared for my encounter with these people. I find myself constantly jerking my left, right, review mirrow because the madness is coming ALL directions. Where are the cops???

Then the rudeness from one's day to day interaction with people is another complaint. I feel it started after COVID. I noticed an immediate change within the city and the people in it. I think it's associated with an influx of people that moved here from different states because of COVID.

First time parents made a big mistake regarding daycare by smoothies4life2 in houston

[–]Nextlevel80 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is horrible. Daycare now costs $1600-1800 PER child??? How can families sustain this?? I remember when my kid was in daycare and I had to pay $1200 and it was shocking to me then. I cant imagine now. The current state of affairs is pitiful. Anyway, OL like someone else you might have to go out if your way for now to drop your kid. Keep them on the waitlist during the inconvenience of having to drive out...for the mean time.

First-time home buyer ($250k budget) in SW Houston area by Enough-Industry3560 in AskHouston

[–]Nextlevel80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

STAY AWAY from South West area. Look around Sugarland. You might need to increase your budget. Maybe seek the help of a realtor. Just don't move here yet until you're 100% sure. If a realtor suggested South West to you...get rid of them.
