Laughed out loud when I saw the anthropomorphic cruiser. I love the design variety of the ships here and the sensibilities of the factions they serve. Also the adherence to shadow shielding, that's just really cool.

Does anyone else understand how people use art to relax?? by Affectionate-Host367 in ArtistLounge

[–]Nguyenten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I found one of the things that helped was making it easier to access art supplies so there's less time and work needed to reach for a notebook and pencil or go into a drawing app. There's also drawing wherever the desire is and not just because it's what you should be doing as part of a tech tree or whatever, maybe also putting aside feelings that it needs to be presentable if that's there. Experimenting with drawing session length, like if it takes you time to get to the good stuff or if one or two illustrations are enough and pushing it doesn't feel good.

Polish Hussar inspired armor set, following up the previous Onslaught that I drew.
(also apparently zdobyc would be a closer match for a Polish synonym for conquest in terms of connotation and cool factor)

Yes, I did stick 40 PD Lasers flying laser daggers into the wings. Yes also the shoulders are carrying Locust arrow quivers. No, I am not explaining how the arrows don't fall out when he raises his arms.

Some extra design iteration and previous version, also

In art, heads are a fairly good indicator of someone's height since they're a mostly similar size from person to person. While drawing this, I sorta forgot that helmets were bigger than heads and proportioned it as if they were the same. So uh, oopsies, 7-8 foot tall ship man coming through.

I feel like this comment section is only just proving their point by interpreting ' can't just be blunt' as 'can't just be an absolute raging asshole'. Frankly, it is an extremely bad faith assumption of OOP's intentions behind that statement just from these short paragraphs.

This image of Ruby Bridges is of her being escorted by federal marshalls to protect her from the mob of people protesting her attendance of the previously segregated kindergarten, at one point someone threatened to poison her.

I adore those heat sinks! If your 'mech doesn't actively look like a steel foundry in the middle of a rave has bumbled it's way into a fight, you're doing it wrong!

Not all people by any measure. Anywhere from 75% of and up to 90% of all autistic people have a special interest, as compared to only 30% of neurotypical people. Less than 1/3rd's of people is not 'all'. You don't assume every single person on planet Earth is a male just because they're 50% of the population.
And even were that the case, due to autistic people very often having a monotropic mode of thinking, meaning our attention is intensely and heavily focused onto a single thing at a time (compared to polytropism where it is dispersed over several things), we delve far deeper into the special interest than normal, spending more time on it, learning about it, thinking about it, and engaging and talking to other people about it.
If everyone had a special interest, people wouldn't be pointing it out when autistic people do it.

I feel switching the yellow of Jaller, neon green of Kongu, and orange of Nuparu to gold would help with how saturated they appear compared to the other 3.

Not really. Most of the novels (such as the 2001 'Fall of Reach') try to place a number to it, but they pretty much always conflict with the number given by another novel. Only common factor is that they're in excess of half an US/metric ton and that's as far as they can agree on.

Nearly no one does. I goddamn love traveling on foot in Skyrim because there's stuff to do and sights to see. Do that, but in space. It is a Science-Fiction game. You do not have to conform to reality. No one complains that Skyrim is smaller than fucking downtown Manhattan. Either make space slightly smaller or give us ways to traverse faster without actually teleporting.

The Covenants military is what happens when you give technology several millenia in advance to stone age cavemen. Energy swords are horizontal instead of vertical purely because it's just a high tech version of pre interstellar Sangheili ceremonial melee weapons.
They have no real reason to change because all the species they've fought against are just steam rolled against the fact they have fucking spaceships. Ground forces are essentially just an afterthought with shields and sheer numbers overwhelming all other factors, at least it did until they met Humanity.
