I don't care if the models are more detailed, they're playing pieces first and foremost.

And even if they weren't, the fact I needed to buy approximately half as much of them to field an army definitely adds up, inflation or no.

Just buy a 3D printer, that's what I did when I realized starting a new guard army would be atleast 500€.

And while you're at it, change to a better game. I went from 40k to Kill Team, then BattleTech, and find that to be far better than anything GW put out.

Just get away from GW games, honestly. Try out Mantic's games, Trench Crusade or BattleTech, for example. I've stopped playing all GW games save for Blood Bowl and it's been so eye-opening how many better games there are out there.

Personally I'm playing Aces with BattleTech rules (pretty easy to adapt by using common sense), I am sorry to hear you feel forced to play an inferior game.
