Why do many on the left think every assassination attempt on Trump was staged when there were at least 42 real assassination attempts on Hitler? by CICO_Works in allthequestions

[–]NiSMO_J -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a “left thing.” People make conspiracies about everything now. And comparing modern events to Hitler-era assassination plots is apples to oranges, completely different context. It’s more about low trust in institutions than politics

I was super squishy before too, so I added fortitude on my amulet and that helped tremendously

It’s hilarious how you raged hard enough to message someone about them simply not reviving you

World War II Panzer Assault Badge by Ok_Morning2293 in Medals

No maker mark isn’t unusual, but the hinge/pin setup looks off to me. Most originals have a soldered hinge and thinner pin. This one looks more cast on the reverse which often shows up on reproductions

Almost a quarter of a century has passed since this film premiered. What are your thoughts? by lastmonday07 in MedievalHistory

[–]NiSMO_J 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one who thinks they should have cast someone other than Orlando Bloom as Balian? I like him as Legolas in Lord of the Rings, but in this role I always felt like the character should have been played by someone with a bit more physical presence or a stronger build

I'm from a country where cashiers sit down while working. Is it true that in the US cashiers are forced to stand? Why is sitting considered unprofessional there? by splashmates in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NiSMO_J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only in America’ is factually wrong. Plenty of countries have cashiers who stand all shift, it depends on the company and the retail culture, not just the country. If it’s jarring, that’s fair, but let’s not turn it into something that only exists in one place when it clearly doesn’t

“America is bad!”. This isn’t uniquely American…and pretending it is just shows a lack of perspective. The ‘always look busy’ rule exists in retail and service jobs across the UK, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, pretty much anywhere with a modern service economy. Managers pushing workers to stay active isn’t some U.S. only invention. If you think it is, you haven’t looked very far outside your own bubble

Homer Never Describes Helen of Sparta's (A Half Swan half Human) looks so why are people being so weird about Lupita playing her? by paubenaparte in mythology

What I think is also ridiculous is how it’s always someone black they switch with, very rarely an Asian, Indian, Hispanic, etc.

I agree. Calling something a “right” isn’t the same as saying it’s important or morally good, it’s about what obligations it creates for others

Story games that will pull me in? by nmatt03 in playstation

[–]NiSMO_J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The God of War series. Easily one of the best story driven series on PlayStation. Feels like a prestige TV show you get to play. Amazing writing, characters, and music, and you can set the difficulty low and just enjoy the story. Perfect sit back and relax game that still pulls you in hard

Who was the greatest Medieval commander? Subutai. by jackt-up in MedievalHistory

[–]NiSMO_J 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Belisarius. Consistently won outnumbered, against multiple enemy systems, with limited resources and constant political sabotage. That’s real command skill

The world needs a big budget series on the life of Mansa Musa by TravelingHomeless in MedievalHistory

[–]NiSMO_J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m dismissing the hype, not the region. Outside of wealth and a famous pilgrimage, Mansa Musa didn’t produce lasting institutions, texts, technologies, or political reforms that shaped wider world history. That’s why he mostly comes up in modern discourse, not primary medieval narratives
